Movies - both new and old

Some of the crappy movies I’ve been watching on MST3K recently are Monster A-Go-Go, The Wild World of Batwoman and Hobgoblins. Monster A-Go-Go and The Wild World of Batwoman are really confusing and go NOWHERE, making them painful to watch. Hobgoblins on the other hand, is an incredibly bad Gremlins rip-off with fake puppets and cheesy 80s music. It comes with a laughingly bad fight scene with garden tools and must be seen to be believed. It’s the ultimate trashy 80s movie in my opinion.

My thoughts on the TinTin film: they should have kept the original “Secret of the Unicorn” title. It would have brought more people in, especially teenage boys. 8D

The Hobgoblins episode is hilarious!!! 8D

I think they kept it everywhere but in USA, is that right?

Anyway, I don’t know if it would attract audience. “Unicorn” has the problem of sounding kind of girlish, because probably people wouldn’t think it refers to a ship’s name and not the cutesy mythological animal.

I think they should have used Red Rackham’s Treasure, the title of another of the books adapted into the film. It’s still relevant to the plot and a little more appealing for audiences.

LOL! She was probably being sarcastic.

I had a hunch, but I couldn’t tell for sure 8D

Batman - Mask of the Phantom.

I’ve been getting into watching Batman latly so I watched this on Youtube.

I liked it. It told everyone how he became Batman and more about his early life. I also like the villain for the most part. I kinsa wish Robin had a part but I guess this takes place before he comes around or after he quits. Alfred is also funny like he is in the series. There was also no Harley. Batman’s love interest was a likeible character too. It could of been better but if still a masterpiece combared to something like Batman and Robin. B.

The Five Year Engagement- This film was funny, but extremely long. I really like Jason Segal. Defintely woth the $3 ticket.

Maybe I should have posted that in The Worst Movies thread.

I just saw Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961). I’d been wanting to see the movie for a long time. I really loved it! I liked all the characters, the score, and the ending made me cry a bit, which I was not expecting. I love how Audrey Hepburn completely embodied her character, it was very enjoyable. 8.5/10

^I adore Audrey!

I love that film! Blake Edwards and Audrey Hepburn are both great.

I haven’t seen that one, but I love My Fair Lady.

I’ve started watching the Narnia trilogy, only the first of which I’ve already seen. I’d rate the first a B and the second a B-. Not sure how the third one will be, but I’ll watch it in a few days.

Other movies I’ve seen recently: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, which I’d rate a C+ for being somewhat uninspiring and too gimmicky, and Miss Congeniality, which is still cute and enjoyable.

The Descendants: I thought it was great. It had some good moments and the story kept you interested throughout the film. 8/10

Shrek 3 I know that I’m going to be I’m going to be in the minority on this one, but in enjoyed this movie. I don’t like the first two Shrek movies, and I can see why people who like the first two don’t like this one. But those reason are why this move wasn’t a chore to get through for me like the first two. I know u fans didn’t find it fun seeing Shrek sitting around going through a mid life crises. And the story did feel lethargic. But I didn’t mind one bit. What I found exhausting about the first two movies was the constant use to fairytale parodies and pop culture references to move the story along. This movie didn’t do use them as much so I was ok with it’s flaws.

Shrek 4 I thought this one was great. It was way better than the third movie. Again, I loved the fact that the story didn’t rely heavily on fairytale parodies and pop culture references to move the story along, and I loved the message of the story. It was touching. I enjoyed the dark sad tone of the film. I’m a sucker for a bleak alternate universe.

I bought the Shrek Complete Story blu ray set so that I could give the first two movies a second chance and watch the last two. It was on sale for a good price. I was thinking about giving the set away after watching the last two movies since I still hated the first two and not expecting much from the last two. But now I’m keeping the set.

I thought Shrek 4 was just ok. The story seemed kind of unoriginal and I didn’t really care to much for the villain.

I liked it better than #3.

I think both 3 and 4 are among Dreamwork’s worst.

Yes, probably 4 is a little better than 3, but still not a good picture.

I forgot to mention the villain in part 4. I really enjoyed him. I thought he was fun to listen to and watch. But I think the final confrontation was kind of weak. But not even close to how weak the ending was for part 3. While watching part 3 I kept thinking about how I couldn’t believe this was made but I still had a good time. Thinking back I realized another thing that made me enjoy part 3 so much was a lot the princesses.
