Movies - both new and old

I don’t love Carlito’s Way, as it’s not without its flaws, but I say you should definitely watch the whole thing. Not enough violence is no grounds to turn off a film 8D

:open_mouth: Wow! another person has seen my favourite non-animated movie!

Madagascar: Europe’s Most Wanted: I saw it yesterday in 3D. I liked it alot. It had a story that was interesting, even though it ended a little predictably. I thought the new circus characters were great. I think the film has a charm to it. But it wasn’t without flaws. My main gripe with it was the electronic pop music used at times, because I intensely hate that type of music. I think I preferred Brave, which probably has more to do with the music than anything else. Although I do think this is better than the previous two Madagascar’s (particularly the second). So overall I would recommend it.
7/10.

I guess you’re right. I will try watching it again if I get the chance.

I love Stuart Little! That’s a great one.

The Dictator: I thought it was awful, there were only a few actually funny moments, and most of the film just seemed like attempts to make people laugh at dumb jokes. 2/10.

I recall seeing a poster for that movie and little to anything else. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.

I’d read some people putting Sacha Baron-Cohen up with Chaplin and Sellers after seeing this film.
I think that’s absolute nonsense after having seen it.

No one should be compared with Chaplin though.

I haven’t seen it, but I saw a preview of it where a guy was in a running race and starts shooting people. I thought that was kind of funny. (not that I think shooting people in general is funny)

There were a couple of funny moments^^, and they were mostly crammed into the trailer.

This Must Be The Place: I really enjoyed it. Great acting particularly from Sean Penn. It had a story that kept you interested, which is most important in a film. And had an interesting end result. 7.5/10.

I’m so excited, today I received two cyborg franchises from Amazon.co.uk in the mail today. Both the Terminator Quadrilogy and Robocop Trilogy, giving me a total of 7 films. I am looking forward to watching each one I plan to watch The Terminator and Robocop (both released by Orion Pictures) in a double bill tonight, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Robocop 2 tomorrow night. However, I heard later instalments in both franchises (Terminator 3, Salvation and Robocop 3) are not as good as previous ones.

I heard Robocop 3 is especially terrible but I’ve decided to watch them anyway and form my own opinion.

Just watched The Terminator (again) and Robocop in a double bill like I said last night. Again, Terminator was a thrill ride that was full of action and suspense. I give it a 9.5/10 overall. And Robocop was not quite as good as I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I watched the Director’s Cut making the violence very gritty in some places (such as when the ED-209 riddles an executive with bullets and of course Murphy’s shooting death). The final scene was very enjoyable, including the part where Emil gets covered in toxic waste turning him into a deformed freak. As far as Paul Verhoeven films go, Total Recall was better. Still a great film though, I give it an 8/10.

Tonight I’m watching both Robocop 2 and Terminator 2 in a double bill. I’ll be watching Robocop 2 first this time since it’s considered inferior to the original unlike Terminator 2 which is considered superior, as well as being released earlier than Terminator 2.

I love All Dogs go to Heaven. Charlie B. Barkin may be the coolest German shepherd of all time

(Scratch that, he IS the coolest German Shepherd of all time.)

I watched Frankenweenie yesterday, and I loved it! Of course, my favorite character was the teacher Mr. Ryzkruski.

I love that movie too! I love the time and setting.

Cool. What’s your fsvorote song? I like You can’t keep a good dog down and Let me be Surprised.

Haven’t seen that film in years. I remember loving it.

I very much want to see Frankenweenie. Possibly also Hotel Transylvania.

I’ve never watched All Dogs Go to Heaven! I have a bunch of Netflix links to Bluth movies bookmarked…

I liked Hotel Transylvania too!

Got back from seeing Frankenweenie with my family. I liked it! It’s not a cinematic masterpiece, but it is enjoyable in lots of little ways and I like how it moved forward at a good pace. It’s a highly simple story—you can see how it started as a short film—in some ways maybe it works better as one—but it was told well and I thought Victor’s relationship with Sparky was really touching because I’m very closely bonded with my pets too and know what it’s like to lose one. I didn’t really like the climax though, it was kind of stressful and unpleasant (but I probably won’t feel that way about it the next time I see it). But anyway, the animation, voicework, etc, gets an A from me. It’s good seeing Tim doing a movie like this again.
Plus, I love that they casted Catherine O’Hara (aka Sally) as the creepy cat girl. Saw it coming. 8D
If I were to grade it, I’d give it a B. It’s very charming even if it’s not terrific.
