Movies - both new and old

Yes, I have to say I like Corpse Bride better, as well, but Nightmare is definately another favourite  And I completely agree with what you said about it already looking 3D. That’s one of the reasons I love stop-motion animation so much. It gives you the feeling of actually being there, and it’s got just the right amount of un-perfectness about it :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, instead of watching NBC in 3D, since I’m not sure if they’re showing it at the local cinema, I went to see Beowulf in 3D. It was actually amazing. The 3D effects worked really well without being intrusive, the animation was stunning (though the dialogue scenes still aren’t completely human) and it had a strong, simple storyline.

They’re a lot closer to animating real life humans now, in comparison to something like The Polar Express, which was just plain creepy. Seeing famous actors in CGI form, such as Angelina Jolie in particular, was still a little weird but they just about pulled it off.

I watched most of Titanic just to shout at Victor Garber … and I’ve been in a strange Wizard of OZ mood, so I watched that as well. x3

Ha! I just recently watched Titanic with my sister, as well. I kind of regret staying up until midnight now, though… (snigger)

I forgot just how powerful and depressing that particular film was, as I hadn’t seen it in years. So far, it’s the only straight out “mush” movie that I love, although I do have to admit that all that mush left me feeling kinda weirded out the next day. Too much kissing…! :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw Shark Boy and Lava Girl. I have to say that if you are a kid, you will find it adorable, but I didn’t like it.

I just watched Big Rock Candy Mountain yesterday … I wonder if anyone here knows that or was a Wee-Sing kid … Anyways, I feel all acid-trippy, but it brought back memories.

I haven’t seen Beowulf, but I’ve seen ads/posters/trailers for it, and I thought the exact same thing. Imagine being one of those actors, and seeing a kind of “virtual” image of yourself. I’d imagine it would be kind of strange to see :stuck_out_tongue:

Hah, I didn’t even go to see that. It just looked a little too weird for my liking  From what I saw, it reminded me a bit of the Spy Kids movies, but it probably wasn’t very much like it at all…

Speaking of Beowulf, i am just a little hesitant to go watch it. Now my teacher is offering extra credit to those who watch and review it, but the movie seems like it is gong to stink.

Extra credit for going to see a movie? Hah, wow, that would be cool :sunglasses:

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned before, but is anyone excited for Sweeney Todd this Christmas? I sure am, I can hardly wait!

LBER- Yeah, Anthony Hopkins was talking about it and he said that he wasn’t complaining because they made him look slightly more handsome than in real life.

TSS- It’s an AWESOME movie! Even without the 3D effects, it’s amazing. It’s based on a tale hundreds of years old, and is steeped in tradition. The characters are impressive and the whole movie has that ‘wow’ factor. If you like something like TI, I’m sure you’d like something like this.

I heard that Angelina Jolie called up her family to warn them that they made her costumes to revealing, or whatever. Haha, I forget exactly what the article said.

LBER- ‘Revealing’ is one word for it…

Hah, I didn’t see the movie myself, so I have no idea what she looked like in it :stuck_out_tongue:

LBER: The reason I am getting extra credit is because we read the old english epic Beowulf wekks ago in my English class.

LG: Well, if you say so, I’ll see if I can watch it.

LBER- Well, she’s pretty much naked. Actually…yep, she’s naked. Oh, except for a pair of high heeled shoes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh man, I want to see Beowulf . I’m a fan of Robert Zemeckis (not as much as Tim, but he’s my second favorite film director) , and he’s joined up with Disney (His production company, ImageMovers got bought by Disney and reincorperated as a performance-capture/MoCap CG animation studio, now called ImageMovers Digital) . That’s got a perfect cast : Ray Winstone , Crispin Glover, Anthony Hopkins, etc. In fact, ImageMover Digital’s first film comes out November 6th, 2009. A Chirstmas Carol sounds really good, especially with Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge.

Speaking of which, I should probably start a thread for the Tim Burton fans on here. It deals with what actors you would like to see in a Burton film. I think Anthony Hopkins and Crispin Glover would be perfect in a Burton film.

I am watching the movie “Hello Dolly” with Barbra Streisand, Walter Matthau, and Michael Crawford. This spring, my school is gonna do Hello Dolly for our musical and I am going through extensive research and preparation to get the character I really want.

Aww – what a cute little film…

My sister and I just finished watching the original The Love Bug on tv a few minutes ago. What a charming little film! I can’t believe I never saw the original until now; I could almost kick myself for viewing the “Fully Loaded” version (with Lindsay Lohan) first.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Herbie, but now I love him even more! How dare I visit the Peterson Car Museum and pass by the real love bug in person before taking a nice, healthy sip of the delicious production in question. I’ll think better of myself next time I attend that Peterson car show…

So…ehem…yes, very charming. Very charming, indeed.

I saw Hello Dolly for my own musical research! I am getting myself familiar with the song so it won’t be a surprise when we rehearse. In addition, to find a character to portray.

The first teaser poster for Indiana Jones IV.

It looks great if you ask me.
