I just watched Secondhand Lions. It’s a very good film, and I hadn’t seen it in a while – maybe three years, actually. I highly recommend it. It’s one of the great recent family films to date in my opinion.
Humorous?? Seems what most people find as humorous, I find depressing - like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - I think it’s just because a comedian is in it that most people expect humor. Sure some parts were funny but mostly it was depressing, and Dan’s family was so happy-happy-joy-joy that you just wanted to club 'em. xD Seriously.
Yeah, seems I can’t be serious with movies when my brother’s there. Especially since the little bugger’s a pervert and mentions gross things that could be easily misconstrued and he just ruins a whole serious scene because I wind up laughing my butt off. xD
I should watch Sweeney again without him. nod
Especially, he didn’t make things better when they showed blood - he mentioned it looked like Chef Boyarde, and then went on to say it was Campbell’s tomato soup “Pos-i-bill-a-tees!” xD
He’s definitely going to be a comedian someday, or an actor … I know the above isn’t much proof but seriously the things he says …
Anyways, I watched bits and pieces of Titus on youtube which I don’t recommend to anyone unless they like blood and gore … I don’t, but I like to see dark movies every once in a while.
FONY - Well, I’ll let you be the judge, since I’ve never seen the film (Dan in Real Life) myself. I’ll just have to take your word for it and watch the darn thing one of these milleniums. (snigger)
Ha! I think I could probably imagine some of the stuff your brother thinks up, if his jokes are anything like me and my sisters’ gags (which can go pretty far off the sanitary road at times). The only difference is that we don’t swear or anything.

My brother told me he was going to watch the movie with Jackie Chan and Jet Li in it. I hear it got bad reviews, but I like both actors, so I just might want to go see it after him.
For future reference, the Jackie Chan/Jet Li movie is called The Forbidden Kingdom. It’s directed by Rob Minkoff, the co-director of The Lion King, and the director of The Haunted Mansion, among others.
The next film that I’m going to see in the theaters will probably be Iron Man.

You should watch it someday - it’s not the best but it’s worthwhile.
Lol! I’m working on the ‘no swear’ thing - it’s a nasty habit. And, apparently if you work for Disney, you can’t swear (go figure!)
Anyways, I just watched Martian Child with my brother last night - not a smart thing to watch it with my brother of course but I got really into it - great source of inspiration for my novel. Of course, it’s also another thing to stray from - gotta make sure I don’t mirror the thing!
Oh those are familiar titles. Thanks Bill.
I saw the movie The Forbidden Kingdom last night. I thought it was a really good movie. THe action scenes were great,. THe actors were amazing. (the Chinese people were good, but there were some parts where I couldn’t believe the white guy). But anyways, I found it very enjoyable. I would see it again If i wanted to. I probably will get the DVD.
I just saw Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. I totally recommend it - Ben Stein has the right attitude for everything, going from humorous to dead serious when the time calls for it.
Next movie I’m going to see is Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian. Oh, I’ve been counting down the days since I saw they were making it! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif” alt=“o_0;;” title="You
Whaaa…" /> (24 days and counting…)
I agree with Star Swordsman - superhero movies are awesome, and the special effects for Iron Man look fantabulous! (no, that is not a real word, so don’t go looking in the dictionary )
Firefly: Join the club. You ain’t the only one counting down to Caspian.
My family and I watched Cloverfield (on DVD) not a night or two ago. Yeesh. It was just as awesome as I remembered it… and just as unnerving…
And, apparently if you work for Disney, you can’t swear (go figure!)
Yeah, it kinda sucks. (snigger)

Mitch: At my school, there were a lot of mixed reactions to the movie Cloverfield. Some of my friends liked it, some hated it.
I can’t wait for Cloverfield to come out! Though a film like that is never as good at home than in the cinema. I found the same with I Am Legend, and Sunshine- big epic movies that need a big, epic screen ideally.
The Star Swordsman - Yeah, I guess you either love it or hate it. I thought it was downright incredible, but that’s just me.
lizardgirl - Exactly! There are some films which are only meant to be seen in theaters, like Ratatouille…

My friends and I wanted to see the new Harold and Kumar movie, but I saw a little bit of the first one so I thought I would get confused.
I watched a bit of King Pin the other night, but was too consumed by the book I was reading to do more than glance at it whenever I got a little restless.
I also watched some of Secondhand Lions on the plane ride back, but found it pointless to do so because of the garble-ness due to turbulence.
Oh yeah!! And Cars was on the night I got back from Route 66!!! xD I found that to be ironic.
My sister has been watching 3, 2, 1, Penguins! episodes over and over again for the past millenium; henceforth, my other sister and I now know them all by heart. It doesn’t seem to bother me as much as I thought it would, however. I guess it’s just one of those shows that you can watch a billion times without getting completely sick and tired of it. (snigger)

Ha-ha! That’s awesome.

I am so old school…
I prefer all the movies of old and yore. Like the good ol yesteryear, to be exact. I am not too partial for movies now. Some things now just plain bore me or are just repeats. Or they try and be “better” than everything else. And all I can really do is yawn at them. I know that seems rather harsh to say that all movies -now- are bad. But that’s not what I mean.
I know there are some good movies now. But I just ain’t interested in them. The last movie I saw in theaters was “Happy Feet” and that was it. I don’t do theater any longer since I can probably watch all my favorite movies on my computer, as well. And I’m such a nerd when it comes to my computer, hehe.
The only movies that seems to interest me are things that doesn’t have a human as a main character. Like Ratatouille… or something. I can admit I have watched some odd stuff. I prefer horror, sci-fi, and fantasy stuff. Occasionally some kid stuff… but my tastes have matured since I’ve been growing up.
I am not an avid movie buff, though.
I’ve just watched the documentary film, The Hand Behind the Mouse: The Ub Iwerks Story. It’s one of the few documentary films that I’ve seen, actually, since I will only view those kinds of films if the subject matter interests me.
I loved it immensely. It’s a great film in my opinion.
Mitch - I don’t think that counts. This thread is for movies, not episodes of televsion.
Bill - Heheh. Yeah, you’re right. I guess the show must have gotten to my head… (snigger) I’ll refrain from mentioning television shows from now on.
