Movies - both new and old

With the new Indy being released (and doin’ spankin’ at the Box Office) I wonder if Spielberg will address the rumor that he is going to work on a 4th Jurassic Park? HMMM…

Watched the Bourne Ultimatum - one of the best trilogies ever made! Matt Damon was born for the “Bourne”! XD

FireFly : Probably no JP4 for Spielberg as a director. As a producer, surely, but he already has many projects to direct in the next few years.

He wants to both shoot and release Lincoln in 2009, and he starts shooting the first movie of a Tintin trilogy in September of this year - he will also probably co-direct the third with Peter Jackson.
There’s also the Interstellar and The Trial of the Chicago 7 projects, so he has enough on his hands already

Archibald - Hey I can dream, can’t I? He had mentioned it several times in the months before Indiana Jones, so I was hoping he would act on it. With all the stuff you’ve just given me though…darn it. :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh well - you win some, you lose some! :sunglasses:

My favorite Film of all time:

THERE WILL BE BLOOD

It really should have won the Oscar for Best Picture.

2nd fav:

STRANGER THAN FICTION (with Will Ferrell)

3rd fav:

FOR YOU CONSIDERATION

I saw When A Stranger Calls. THat movie really surprised me. I really love the person who played Jill. SHe is one of my favorite actresses.

Aww, I love that! I really need to watch that again.

I just watched Wah Wah. Love Miranda Richardson. <3 She only played a small role but it was worth it.

Just got No Country For Old Men on DVD. It’s such a good film, and so intense…

I also saw Gone Baby Gone in the cinema a few days ago. Pretty depressing, but the acting was top notch, especially Casey Affleck. He mumbles a bit, but can actually be quite surprising once he seems to really get into the role.

I can’t wait to see Superhero Movie. It looks absolutely hilarious. Hopefully, it’ll be an improvement on Date Movie, though.

I was watching the special edition DVD of Golden Compass - lizardgirl, you’d love it. xD They said in an interview that they were given a free T-Shirt that read ‘It’s the Materials, stupid.’ xD And, that the title was lost in translation - was supposed to be Golden Compasses (the Alethiometer, the Subtle Knife, and the Amber Spyglass) which really would’ve made much more sense. :stuck_out_tongue: But someone misread the title, and it became the Golden Compass. :stuck_out_tongue: Idiots.

i didn’t like “No Country” as much as I thought because it was sooooo amazing RIGHT UP UNTIL… the last half hour. The ending of Lewelyn Moss wasn’t even shown? I really wanted to see how he died and also, the ending was so inconclusive. I wouldn’t care if Anton won, I just wanted to know what he did after he broke his arm. I got why they finished it where they did and I thought the speech by Tommy Lee Jones at the end was some of the best acting ever! (they finished it whre they did cuz that’s how the book ended.) But see, what works in a book doesn’t always work in a movie, but I could stomach the ending and I didn’t hate it. But I just wanted sooooooooooo much to see how Lewelyn died that that kinda threw me off the train ride of the movie. So… i’d give it a… B+ because once again, the Coen Bros. showed that they will always be the masters of subtle scariness and tension. (but i liked “There Will Be Blood” waaaaaaaay better. It’s my favorite film of all time now.)

I saw a Asain Movie called “Super Noypi”, a cross between X-man, Spy Kids, and the Incredibles. I liked it. THe acting and characters were cool, but the story was unoriginal and direction really sucked.

FONY- Nooo! stab stab What idiots! fumes :stuck_out_tongue:

TS2- In all honesty, I was expecting a weird ending. The Coen brothers love to do that, for some reason. I’ve tried to see why they did that in No Country For Old Men in a more philosophical kind of way, but it’s difficult to understand the meaning they were trying to convey. I’ve never read the book, either.

And There Will Be Blood has always looked like a very appealing film to me! I haven’t had a chance to watch it, but I might get it on DVD sometime.

lizardgirl:  Well, they were angry about the title but seemed all right with the movie - especially since the author had so much input as to how it went - and the movie was really true to the book, but I can’t see the series continuing well … :stuck_out_tongue: I just can’t see the next two books as actual films. :open_mouth:

Anyways, I just watched Falling Angels - an Indie film, watched it for Miranda Richardson, it was really depressing … but I enjoyed it, nevertheless.

lizardgirl:

OH GOD THERE WILL BE BLOOD IS AMAZING! Be prepared for lots of sudden violence, because it’s not really that violent, but the timing will scare the s**t outta you. Also, It’s an amazing character study and a fantastic lesson of greed in business and the acting is phenomenal! (Paul Dano really should have been at least nominated for best supporting actor). (There Will Be Blood, but just at the very, VERY end). There Will Be Blood: A+ from every angle!

wait, there’s a series? does Anton do anything else? Do they say how Lewelyn died?

Edited. I combined both of your posts. – Mitch

Here’s an exclusive update on the production of Spider-Man 4 :

sweet! my favorite film series! thanks, bill!

I think I’m going to see The Happening tomorrow. Seems very Cloverfield-esque to me, in terms of the whole impending doom, ‘aargh, we’re all going to die!’ type thing.

I really want to see The Incredible Hulk. Edward Norton looks fantastic in the title role, and it’s gotten really good reviews so far. It’s a reboot of the 2003 film, Hulk (which I walked out on about half-way through). It’s Marvel Studio’s second independent film as well, the first being Iron Man.

i’m finally gonna go see the new Indiana Jones movie 2nite! hope it’s good!

I finally saw Pride and Prejudice (the Kiera Knightley version) stuck through it 'cause I found the guy cute … and well, didn’t see it all really, because my brother had come into the room and I had to explain to him I was trying to watch a gushy romantic movie and that it would embarrass both of us even if he sat through it anyways.

Then my dad came in the room and I didn’t want to explain again (and commercials are long) and so I flipped to Hallmark’s Alice in Wonderland - can’t believe I know that film word for word - especially since I’ve only just bought it about five years ago and it’s 3 hours long - not exactly a film you can watch on loop, unless you want your day eaten. :stuck_out_tongue:

Spider Man 4 huh? Okay, now I am thinking this is starting to be a little too much, but we’ll never know until we see.
