Movies - both new and old

Back to the future = Class film

Who’s with me?

I just re-watched Treasure Planet, for the first time since theaters, and wow- that movie was REALLY underrated. It had beautiful animation, and was a great twist on the classic. I liked it.
Adds on “Overlooked Gems” list, next to Atlantis

I’m with you Wall-e !

I agree with you that it’s a true classic in the way that everyone remembers it, but I don’t think it’s a great movie.

Just saw a film called Traitor.

It is a greatly written and very well-acted film. It’s a very detailed slow-burn thriller, so I won’t reveal the plot. Look it up. It’s a great film. It’s got Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce!!! They’re great in this film. Go see it. A+.

Recently, I managed to see Bottle Shock. Alan Rickman plays the lead role of Steven Spurrier, an English wine expert, who travels to the not-yet-famous Napa Valley lo learn about Calfornia winemaking. The film tells the story of the events that led up to the Judgement of Paris, when Californian wine beat French wine in a blind taste test.

The film was quite good. I enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend it.

Movies I Am Looking Forward To Watching
Jurassic Park 4 - III was corny, but hopefully IV would return to the unique story lines the JP films once possessed.

Transformers 2 - The first one was a joy ride. It might not have the deepest plot ever, but it was fun, and hopefully, “Revenge of The Fallen” would get better than before.

Hostel 3 - I just can’t get enough of this horror slasher, and despite its direct-to-video status and its change of director, I am willing to take a chance if it means I get to see “Elite Hunting” being pinned down once and for all. May good triumphs over all.

2012 - From the description given by Wikipedia, the film totally sounds like a copy of “The Happening” with a different setting. Nevertheless, I would like to see how Hollywood takes turns this catastrophic event into entertainment.

Alien vs Predator 3 - I know that the previous two films were… a dread, but this series is the only entertainment I can get out of the Alien/Predator franchises (I don’t prefer to read their comics as it is just not the same entertaining experience as watching a film). Who knows, maybe they’ll introduce Ripley this time.

Another Cinderella Story - Loved the first one, definitely catching the second one, especially when it’s starring Wizards’ Selena Gomez!

Bolt - Are you kidding me on this one? Not watching this is like slapping my butt with the back of Morkupine Porcupine. Go, Miley!

Cars 2 - 'Nuff said.

Final Destination 4 - Always loved the “Final Destination” series - regardless of what the critics said - and the fairly interesting methods of killing concocted by Death. At least this slasher is creative.

Crank 2: High Voltage - Somehow, Statham’s acting seemed appealing to me, so much that I would watch a film starring him no matter how corny it gets.

Friday the 13th (2009) - Always a fan of the “FT13th” film series, and I’m not going to miss this one. Though it is claimed to be merely a remake, the citations and reviews given seemed to put it under a good light… so far. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Hannah Montana: The Movie - I’m merely just watching it because it is part of Disney. I was never a big fan of the television series (thank god, coz it is soooo a chick show), but I am interested in finding out how the story lines turn out (as I had managed to catch some of it now and then).

High School Musical 3: Senior Year - Three things; the music, the passion, the fandom.

Iron Man 2 - Is it better to be true to the adaptations or entertaining? I say, is it too much to be both?

The Avengers - screams like a little girl This. Is. So. Great. Avengers, assemble! Major Marvel fan I am.

Thor - Watching Marvel’s thunder god of lightning, the son of Odin on screen? Are you kidding? A must watch.

Phew, that’s a lot of movies, and I’m barely done yet. Will update later…

Amen. I actually thought that Jurassic Park III wasn’t as horrible as it could have been – in fact, by today’s standards, I’d say it was pretty dang decent as compared to other sequels. The Jurassic Park series is one of the few films that seems to be successful in that area.

So, yeah, I’m looking forward to the fourth installation in the franchise, as well. I hope they bring Jeff Goldblum back…

– Mitch

Jurassic Park 4? NOES!

I love the trilogy as it is- first film, uber awesome amazingness with all amazing characters, second film, Jeff Goldblum-a-thon, (god, he’s attractive) and third film a bit more rubbish but quite amusing at some points, such as the dinosaur eating the mobile phone. I was afraid of the Nokia ringtone for ages after seeing that.

Well, as Mitch said, if they’re gonna make a fourth one, it’s got to have Dr. Ian Malcolm in it. He was just such a cool character, both in the books and the films, that him not being in the third JP sort of made it a bit rubbish. The banter between him and Grant is just so funny in the first one.

lizardgirl - Yes! Continue the tradition…!!

Nice to know that I’m not the only one who fancies Jeff Goldblum. He looks his best in black, I think. Heheh. The way I see it, Jurassic Park is not Jurassic Park unless either Sam Neill or Jeff Goldblum is in it.

So it’s the Nokia ringtone! I hate it. My sister wants it for her phone, but I’ll be satisfied if I never hear it again. (snigger)

Speaking of Jurassic Park, I’m hoping that Ellie’s husband gets eaten in the fourth installment. She was meant to be with Grant. I bet Spielberg had her marry some other dude just to annoy us… so as we’d look forward to him getting devoured by a T-Rex or something later on… :stuck_out_tongue:

One thing I can say about Ian:

“I really hate that guy.” - John Hammond.

WBoon - Actually, it was, “I really hate that man.”

Sorry for being picky. I’m very particular about movie quotes. (eheh)

What is it about Ian that you don’t like? :stuck_out_tongue:

– Mitch

Are you kidding? Ian Malcom’s like, the dude, he’d be the last guy to appear on my hate list. I just find that line hilarious, that’s all.

And sorry for my one-liner; I’m not really in the mood for typing, especially when my browser failed on me just now while I was typing a really long passage of words!

WBoon - Ah! I see. My apologies.

Oooo. Sorry about that. Don’t worry about it, dude. I hate it when that happens…

– Mitch

Alright, I promised that I would update my list (I was really tired when I posted that and I seriously needed some sleep), so here it is.

Movies I Am Looking Forward To Watching (cont’d)
Quantum of Solace - Daniel Craig’s double ‘o’ spy agent was announced to be much darker this time as he seeks for revenge. Always the fan of the recent Bond movies, thus, I’m definitely not going to miss this one.

28 Months Later - Horrifying? Gory? Suits me! The only zombie flick to make some sense to me, the ‘28 Later’ franchise last halted its story line at what appeared to be Paris but later on confirmed to be continuing in Russia; not a very interesting setting for me - I would had preferred LA. Nevertheless, I have watched both its predecessors, so there’s not much reason for me not to watch the third rise of the blood-thirst zombies.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not (2009) - Alright, this seem to an interesting one. I’ve always been intrigued by the oddities of Ripley’s (especially the creepy ones), and now that it’s going to star wacky Carrey Jim, who knows where this movie will go?

Teen Titans: The Judas Contract - A more sinister version of Terra I hear… more reasons for me to watch this direct-to-video film based off my favorite DC heroes of all time. Terra’s gawd… <3

Terminator Salvation - Even though Christian Hit-Wife Bale would be replacing (yet, another one-time Connor) Nick Stahl in this brand new saga in the “Terminator” franchise, I am finally going to see how the future takes place, so, why not be back?

Toy Story 3 - After reading the plot description, however, my interest for this mighty sequel is becoming unstable. It says that the setting will be a daycare center where the aforementioned issue of Andy heading to college comes true. Well, I find that to be a little unoriginal (I mean, they raised the issue in 2 already, why face it again in 3?). Nevertheless, I will definitely watch it; after all, it’s made by Pixar, it would be a bad ‘dream’ if I don’t watch it.

Transporter 3 - Another good ol’ film starring Statham. As mentioned, the actor’s acting is the reason for my attraction to movies starring him. I liked the first Transporter film, but the second was getting appalling. Nevertheless, I’ll stick by and watch how 3 goes on.

Upcoming film involving a comical Holmes without a proper title yet - Always have been a Detective Conan fan, I would definitely catch any modern films involving the renowned detective who inspired the renowned detective. Even though the film takes up the genre of comedy (worse; they cast Will Ferrel in it), it’s still a film about Holmes, and that means I’m not missing it.

W. - Hey, to see the most hated US president’s display of tyranny through his attack on Iraq? Count me in watch this film any day.

The Wolfman (2009) - Cool, a remake of the classic film that fired the bullet - the silver one. Can’t wait to see how this is going to be portrayed, hopefully with cool special effects and, more importantly, good, extensive plot lines in jolly ol’ London.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Not a very big fan of the X-Men franchise. A big fan of Hugh Jackman and Wolverine, however. Besides, all three X-Men films were blockbuster hits, how could I say no to this one? Should be a joy ride, this one.

I think that’s all there is to the upcoming films. I might have missed a lot, but that same tiring feeling is back again, so, till next time!

I’m looking forward to Transformers 2 and The Avengers. I seriously want direct and writes the scripts for these two movies. Stupid directors they can’t even make a good movie. Transformers 1 was very disappointing and very fast pace at the end where you couldn’t even see anything. The Avengers, I got a awesome plot for this movie. Like the pervious marvel directors such as X-men, and Iron-man, they just made the film more boring for me. I don’t want them to screw up this time.

WBoon- There’s going to be a 28 Months Later? Oooh…My favourite zombie franchise by far! I look forward to that one, definitely.

Here’s the official theatrical trailer for Quantum of Solace :

I may see Ghost Town 2nite.

I’ll post a review if I do.

Bill: I’m soooo excited for the new 007 movie, because one of my favortie directors, Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Stranger Than Fiction (y’all know how much I love that one), The Kite Runner) directed it!!! So I’m really super-excited to see this! Also, it comes out 4 days b4 my birthday, so I’ll go see it as a birthday party!!!

I am not as excited to see this James Bond movie as I am with the others I have seen, but I am sure this new 007 movie is going to be awesome.

With Daniel Craig reprising his role as Bond The ‘James Bond’ for the second time, and with his successful portray in the first film, I’m anticipated to see what else Craig has to offer in playing the double 'O agent, especially with a motive for revenge this time.
