One Man Band

Well, when/if the shorts are brought up.

I went to Colorado and it was AWESOME!!!

Although, Denver has a weird art style.
Denver is really exactly like Pittsburgh, but it tries to be artsy and it REALLY fails (sorry to everyone who lives in Colorado)

Anyway, I climed some of the Rocky Mountains and that was freakinā€™ AMAZING!

Oh! That Boundinā€™ sheep is awesome on her shirt!!!

Interesting, TS2.
Climbing the Rocky Mountains sounds exciting!
Good to know you had fun.

Back on Topic: I wonder what that girl was going to wish for.

Oh that is a good question. I guess maybe happiness, or some special gift.

Hereā€™s a random theory:

She wished for cheerful entertainment, then she heard the one-man-bands and felt like her wish was already granted so she didnā€™t need to put her coin in the fountain. But after they started fighting, she wasnā€™t impressed. After all, she wished for happy entertainment, not violence over her money.
Then, believing that losing her money was those menā€™s faults, she demanded them to pay back. After recieving the bag of money, she wanted to taunt those men first. Next, she threw two coins into the fountain, secretly wishing for one, them to find better business, or get along, whichever is easier, and two, to never run into them again until that has happened.

Thatā€™s awesome! Do a fanfic!!!

i canā€™t see the shorn sheep in that picture :{

but, in other news, i think this is probably THE strongest pixar short. my definite favourite. then again, i am a sucker for music & animation sync.

this short is probably ranking 3-4 in my list.

1-Presto
2-Lifted
3-Jack-Jack Attack
4-One Man Band

Welcome to Pixar Planet HollieTree

Wow itā€™s really hard to distinguish the little sheep on her cloak ! :open_mouth:

Does one of the musicians from One Man Band represent the guy from Tin Toy?

I donā€™t knowā€¦

As for my thoughts on One Man Band, Treble is winning the tone war here. As for the Bass, his Jazz number is cool.

In a few words, Cool Short fiilm. It was my favorite before the release of Lifted and Presto.

I really like the combined music played by both the musicians [spoil]when they used their full instrument sets and fought for a coin at the end.[/spoil] It sounds pretty fun and exciting.

What made it funny is in the end, [spoil]both not only failed earning the coin, but the little girl got herself a whole bagful of them.[/spoil]

I watched this short last night before i watched Cars. I loved it. [spoil]The look on the 1st musicians face when he sees the other musician appear is so funny.[/spoil]

I am glad you liked it CMB. It is one of my favorites too.

Yea, i still want to purchase the Pixar shorts dvd!

Hi

I really love this short. It soā€¦ haha, no words. And Brass rules, although I laughed very much with Trebleā€™s violins ensemble.

I agreeā€¦ Brass rules! great short, the intensity build up from editing and music together is excellent. Very well done

I love how this was a cooperative effort with Mike Giacchino the whole way through. Since I saw Up, Iā€™ve completely fallen for his work. I did a halftime show my junior year of high-school with the score from the Incredibles, which was really awesome to do, so Iā€™m pretty familiar with his music. He did great in this short as well.

I also love how the directors decided that [spoil]the stereotypical ending of cooperation wasnā€™t as near as entertaining as the one they came up with![/spoil] The ending is pretty great in that regard,

@ CMB, yeah, the Shorts DVD is really great! It actually really helped influence my decision to pick up graphic design and animation as a career, and start working toward a job at Pixar one day (well, the short DVD and watching Up). The features and commentary is great, but thereā€™s not too much of it. Thereā€™s not too much content, but whatā€™s there is great!

Coming late into the discussionā€¦

One Man Band and Presto are my two favorites. This oneā€™s whimsical tone is very appealing, as is the music. Thereā€™s also a lesson to be learned here, in a twisted way!

The artwork is also very appealing, and I liked the backstory on the Pixar Shorts DVD
