Pixar Animation Studios - Role Playing Game

Location: Some distance away from L&D’s office

Occupation: Writer and worried Pixar staff

Action: Flare looked on the ground in deep thought, minding the next few words that would come from his mouth.

“Yeah, I guess. Even though that spirit is quickly diminishing, all hope might not be lost…”

With his eyes glimmering with hope, Flare jerked his head up and looked in woody’s eyes directly.

“…as long as there are staff members like you and me, working towards a better movie future!”

Location: Catching up with Dragon

Occupation: CEO ( A GIRL one, by the way)

Action: Rac fumed. She has been working her BUTT off trying to keep control of the money grabbing board members, and she gets insulted for trying to do some minimal merchindising.

She marched out of the room and spun Flare around.

“Excuse me, but if you EVER suggest I only care about money again, you’ll hear much more then this. You two think you the only ones who care about story, huh!? I’m trying to keep this company alive AND make sure we don’t go on the downfall of plastic, money desparete pathecticness. Who is the one keeping the HSM franchise down? Who is the one who is trying to make sure Mickey is more then the ears on the Disney Channel logo? Who is the one making sure each and every film made by this still recovering company is the best is can be!? Not you!” She took a deep breath. Calm down, she told herself. She started again in a softer tone.

“Just because I want to make a controlled amount of merchindising on a very promising film does not in any way mean I ‘only care about the greens.’ Look in a history book. Walt did the creative stuff, but he depended on Roy’s business mind and merchindising deals to keep his company alive to do the creative stuff in the first place. How do you think they got the funding for movies such as Fantasia and Dumbo? Movies ain’t cheap! If you can’t stay open to do great filmmaking, there isn’t gonna be any! see how that works? Well guess what? There’s only one of me, so I have to handle them both. Beleive me, I more then anybody wish it could be any other way, but this company needs to pay the bills. This is America. The bills don’t get paid on their own. Anyway, if your such a genius in great film making, why don’t you guys get back to work?”

She walked silently back to L&D’s office.

“Sorry about that. Where were we? Oh yes. Only up to two die-casts for each character at most. And also, how about only the main cast? I mean, does anyone really want a figureine of the random car that only shows up for half a second?” She chuckled. “I’ll talk this over with the board. Want to come with? They’ll like to know how the story is going.”

Location: My office

Occupation: Writer

Current Project: Cars 2

Action: L&D finally shakes off what had happened. It was a little weird having people flocking to her office all because the CEO of Disney was with her. She didn’t really need all the extra attention. She listens to what RacRules has to say. “Yes, only the main ones. I mean, I know the last set had the little minivan with the mattress on his head. Who wants to play with that one? But I find don’t feel that we need to re-realease the original characters, like Lightning, Sally, and Mater. That would be redundant, for they are already released. And only up to two of each. Unless Ramone gets like, four paint jobs. I think Ramone should be the only character who gets more than two just because he’s always changing his paintjob. Sure, I’ll come along with you to the board. I mean, I’ll be happy to tell them how the movie’s coming along.”

L&D couldn’t believe that in only the short period she had worked here at Pixar, that she was going to go to the board in charge of Disney. Disney itself! It felt like such an honor. Hopefully she wouldn’t screw up. . .

Location: Still not far from L&D’s office

Occupation: Distressed Writer

Action:
Flare shook his head. The impression Rac had given him about the staff of Disney have grown worse. Shrugging his shoulders while letting out a sigh, he walked away in both contempt and disregard. There’s little he could do now even if Cars 2 was made only for profit - Rac’s final words provided a higher rate of possibility that it is so.

Stepping away from the office, he gave his final thoughts on Rac’s remarks, his voice echoing down the corridor.

“You see what happens? When the artistic aspect of Hollywood is brought up in discussion, the need to pay their bills is often used as an excuse, much like in Hollywood. What am I? Richie Rich? Yet, I don’t whine about paying bills - an usual thing to do in our daily lives. Looks like Disney is really going down the drain… oh dear, oh dear… Would you awake, dear Walt… would you…?”

But no, after some more seconds of thoughts, he wasn’t satisfied. People needed to be reminded what Pixar is really about - to bring people on amazing journeys through both emotional stories and characters, and through their fantastic animation and superb visuals.

HE - no, SHE needs to be reminded! Pixar was going well without Walt Disney Pictures in the first place. It doesn’t need some economical beings to affect this spiritual state Pixar once had!

Flare dash back across the corridor, past woody’s shoulders, and towards L&D’s office.

“You might want to get out of here, woody; things might get…” Flare turned around, stared woody straight in his eyes and pronounced the last word of his sentence in a dramatic, Bruce Campbell ‘Evil Dead’ manner, “ugly. Time to get some.”

Once he was in the view of both L&D and Rac, he began firing his words like Ash’s twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington while resting one hand on the door frame.

“Alright, you scumbag, I want you to get one thing straight. Now I don’t care about your little dolly-selling campaign or your money-grubbing desires, but if you and your corrupted Disney operatives decide to turn Pixar into some money-making scheme, you are out of your league, pal. You think you might be huge and grand with your title as CEO? Just watch what I can do.”

With that final warning, he stepped away from the cubicle, preparing to put his plan into action. It’s time people were reminded what Pixar’s main focus is. It’s time Pixar was reminded of its purpose and goal. It’s time Pixar returns to its ‘Zen State.’

Location: The hallway outside of my office

Occupation: Writer

Current Project: Cars 2

Action: L&D decided to see what dragon was up to. He seemed a little PO’d with the CEO of Disney. She had heard what he was saying. “You think Cars 2 is only for the money?” she asked, feeling like she needed to stand up for the movie she was working on. It was practically her movie! “Well, I don’t know what to say, but, somehow, a profit needs to be made. If we can’t make extra money, how will we be able to make movies? Just, think a little about it. Besides, she was talking to me about the merchandising, and we were saying that we shouldn’t go overboard with it. She’s just trying to find neutral ground. And I don’t believe it’s 100% for the money. In fact, I accepted this project on working on Cars 2 because it’s a dream of mine! I’m not doing this because it’s raking in the dough.” She sighed a little before saying, “Look, I know I can’t change your mind, but it’s not all because of the money. You’ll see. Cars 2 is gonna kick butt! With me as a writer, this movie isn’t gonna be another cheapquel!” L&D finished her little tyrade and quickly prayed that dragon wouldn’t snap back. Things could get ugly if he did. She was working on controling her anger, but when it came to something so dear to her heart, it was hard to let it go.

-o0o-

This is getting realistic! And to believe I’m in the center of all the drama! I never thought I’d be this big in the game!

Location: Steps away from L&D’s office

Occupation: Tough-nut writer yearning to change the face of Hollywood

Action:
Flare understood L&D’s need, knowing where she was coming from, but she was missing the whole point.

Staring at L&D as he had stared at woody with those same dramatic eyes, he replied, “I never said that no profits should be earned - you did, honey. Even though your intentions might be pure, you will have to remember that our main focus is not on the dough. We must remain in the thought that even if we are penniless, we are still able to create a great story. As long as we keep on thinking that while still making enough money to support us, Pixar’s spiritual zen will not fail!”

Flare quickly steps away thereafter, only turning around to L&D one final time to give a final statement,

“Later, baby; it’s time Pixar is reminded of its once glorious state, its once majestic glory.”

With that, he walked away briskly, bidding goodbye with a gesture without turning his head.

OoC:
lol This is what acting in RPs is about - making it dramatic and fun.

Location: Still in the hallway

Occupation: Writer

Current Project: Cars 2

Action: L&D was relieved that no flaming came. She did also take in what flare had said. She didn’t mean to say that he thought no profit should be made. She sighed to herself, thinking Once again, I’ve made something unclear. Why do I always leave out some sort of detail? She did know money wasn’t the main focus. She just didn’t need someone else thinking the dreaded “This movie is made for the money!” rumor. If she had remembered the stat correctly, John Lasseter himself thought up of the idea for the international theme while doing the international premieres of Cars. He wondered how the characters would react to the different types of cars and the whole driving on the left side of the road thing, and other stuff like that. He wasn’t interested in money. He just had a little brainstorm in his head. She understood it clearly. She also knew though that this company needed some money. But not overboard. Stories were 75%, money 25% in her brain. She felt lonely in the hall, and looking up to the ceiling, she thought Isn’t this familiar? Oh yeah, Doc alone in the street in Cars. Speaking of which, I better get writing! L&D walked back into her office, hoping to avoid the current situation, and just write. Besides, she wasn’t doing it for the money. Writing was her passion.

woody couldn’t believe it. Whenever he dreamed of working at Pixar he never thought that people were going to take such a stand in front of such a powerful person. He was definitely proud of Dragon for standing up fro what he believed in. As he walked down the hall to his office he thought things are about to get interesting

Rac felt on the verge of tears. She worked so hard to keep the board under control, and she got called a “scumbag” and “money grubber” right by her employees. She could fire him on the spot. She should. But somehow she felt that would only make it worse.

“Dragon.” She said softly. “Do you remember when the first Cars was made? Hundreds of die-casts alone were made. They were made of extras, cars that no one knew or cared about, and were hastily given backstories and names. Not only that, but main characters were given as many different forms as possible. Disney put in ‘dusty McQueens’ and ‘Bug-teeth McQueens.’ Why? Because it would make money. And it did. They put Cars on sippie cups, clothing, costumes, tissues, and even fabric. Why? Because it would make money.”

She put a hand on L&D’s shoulder.

“What we’re trying to do is stop that from happening again. If we don’t talk about this now, the board will go crazy, just like last time. We’re doing this to make sure the point of Cars 2 isn’t just to make money. There are people, like her, that are doing this because she loves Cars and wants to continue the story. Saying it’s only for money is a flat insult to her talents. I find it funny that there is an Incredibles 2 right in this very building and no one gives me greif about that. Why? Because Cars 1 made money? You’re saying that something that makes money can’t be good? That’s not true at all. You aren’t the only one is this building, sir. This girl is working her butt off on something she’s passionate about. And the best you can do is waltz on in here and call her hard work a money plot. If anyone is lacking in character here, it’s you.”

She beckond L&D to the door.

“Come on, hun. We shold talk to the board before they get restless. I think everyone in this room knows the way they are.”

Location: Long gone from L&D’s office, too far to hear Rac’s last comments which she had assumed he had listen to an word of

Occupation: Writer - and soon to be, his own campaign manager

Action: Snickering - and sneezing, while on his way to the main hall of Pixar.

‘Hm, somebody’s talking behind my back.’

Location: My office

Occupation: Writer

Current Project: Cars 2

Action: L&D watched as RacRules tried to get through dragon’s head one more time, noticing how far away he was. There was no way he could have heard her statements. But she didn’t feel like pointing it out. She just felt that this was going too far. “Sure, let’s get down there. I feel like I need a break from this place anyways. Too much drama. I need to have this place cool off for a while.”

Location: Right outside the office

Occupation: CEO

Action:

“True that. I think these people are so used to hating Disney, they don’t know how to think any other way. I’m glad to have employees like you, though. I don’t know how I would manage without you guys.”

She stepped out and led L&D to the Disney studios.

“It scares me sometimes how some Pixarians think they’re ‘the only hope’ left. It’s like they won’t face the fact that there are others out there who care about Disney. Lassiter is a good friend of mine, for example, and he knows we need to work togather to fix this place.”

Opening the board room, she walked to her seat.

“Sorry for the wait, everyone. I brought a writer from Cars 2 to talk about the movie. We also have ideas on limiting the merchindising. L&D, would you like to begin?”

Location: Board room at Disney

Occupation: Writer

Current Project: Cars 2

Action: L&D tries to keep herself cool and collected as she first decided to tell the board about the progress on her current project. “Well, for starters, Cars 2 is coming along nicely. We’ve just gotta add a little bit more of a subplot into the story and it should be ready for getting a script started. Now, for the merchandising, me and RacRules were talking, and we’ve both agreed that the die-casts got a little out of control last time around. We have a few basic rules: One, only the main cars. Who wants to play with a car that we know nothing about and was in the movie for two seconds? I know I don’t! And we’ve limited the amount of cars for each character to have two models. Other than Ramone since he’s always changing his paintjob. That’s the only exception. We don’t need more cars like Bug Mouth McQueen. You wanna take it from here, RacRules?” she asked, proud about herself. She couldn’t believe how well of a job she had done. She had never in her life been in front of a more important group of people, and she didn’t screw it up.

Location: Near the entrance of the studios

Occupation: Writer

Action: Finally, the broad, wide opened thinking space. This should be a nice place for Flare to make his announcement. Walking to the counter, Flare gestured towards the secretary kindly with a smile.

“May I help you, Mr. Dragon?” she asked in curiosity, wondering about Flare’s intentions.

“Yes, may I borrow the mike for a moment? I have something significant I believe would be helpful for the entire staff if they hear it.”

Naturally, she was doubtful of his decency at first, especially with him being relatively new to the industry. She had also heard some suggestive rumors about him recently, about how he has given harsh remarks to his fellow colleagues, rendering them mentally distressed and annoyed.

Nevertheless, despite his civilized dressing, his face gave her a strange feeling that there was some threat to him, like her life would be put in harm’s way if she was to reject his request.

Yet, he just merely stood there, smiling warmly, and waiting patiently for her permission without a groan.

“Sure,” she replied and briskly moved away from her seat and the counter.

Flare replied with a smile and a friendly nod, his hands kept tucked behind his back this whole time. Casually, he stepped behind the mic., ready to give Pixar his gentle and short reminder that seemed insignificant, yet essential in totality.

“Attention, Pixar staff members, this is Dragon of Omnipotency. This is a small reminder to all staff working on Pixar sequels, and I mean all of them; Cars 2, The Incredibles 2, Toy Story 3, and Monsters, Inc. 2. Our main focus at Pixar is to create heartfelt stories that would invoke the human emotions of the audience as they journey through amazing adventures through our grand visual mastery. Unlike certain individuals who might have misinterpreted my actions, of whom their names I shall not reveal coughRac_Rulescough… Sorry, my throat hasn’t been well.”

“As I was saying, unlike certain people, please do not misunderstand the reason I reemphasize this very point. Earning sufficient profits to support our cause is a major factor that we must not disregard, but my hope is that while you are working, please remain in a state of concentration that keeps you focused on our goal; to connect with people with our movies, not to earn a huge amount of cash. Money is important, but forget about that when you are working. I could not make this any more simpler, other than to tell you not to possess any greed in every moment of your life while you are here, in Pixar Animation Studios.”

“This place is holy as it is sacred. It is this Zen State, this numbness towards the thought of earning profit that had kept our staff members focused on writing a good story and making the characters believable and touchable. Please do not let such temptations render your skills otherwise.”

“Thank you for your time. I hope you have yourself a good morning. This is Flare, signing out.”

With that, his heart was rested. Some people might have different views towards his, but even so, that was perfectly fine. With that same smile, he turned towards the secretary, gave a nod of confirmation, and stepped away from the front desk. His goal has been met in this arc of his movie.

woody had writer’s block. No matter how hard he tried he just couldn’t come up with anything. So he paced down the hall, which usually gave him some ideas. As he was walking, he saw Dragon making his speech, Again, woody was glad somebody was taking a stand. As he wandered down the hall, he found a door he had never seen before. It was blue, and had the Monsters Inc M in the middle. The weirdest thing about it though was that it wasn’t in a wall, it was a door that was disconnected from anything and just leaning against a wall. There was a small light (which was off) which was connected to the door, over top of it. Curious, woody tapped the light a few times. It glowed a bright strawberry red. He opened the door and was sucked into one of the places he always wanted to go, Monstropolis. The weirder thing was, he was a monster. He must of changed when he went through the door. He looked behind him and found a door, the same door, although this one was white and had the Luxo lamp on it. This is going to be fun woody thought to himself.

Nexas opened one eye, stareing at the door to his office. With a light chuckle, he folded his arms behind his head, murmuring “Have a fun time Woody”.

Location: Disney Board Room

Occupation: CEO

Action:

Rac_Rules stood, smiling.

“Good job, L&D, couldn’t of said it better myself.”

She straitened her suit, taking a deep sigh. Here comes the controversial part.

“It has come to my attention that some of our employees are still unsure of our attempts to improve this company. Though many of us are trying to keep everything tasteful, there are many, including many Pixarians, who don’t realise that. I think it would be wise if we made a presentation to the entire company. I understand with so many this would be very hard, but in order to keep Disney togather we must work togather. I’m thinking of composing a speach to make sure they all understand our good intentions. That making money is important, but as long as we all sit in this room, story comes first.”

Occupation: Director of M.I. 2

Location: Office

Nexas eyed the door. the now opening door, to his office’s file room, which apparently had nobody in it. Nobody stepped through, and in effect, nobody closed it. Of course, it was either nobody or the floating stack of folders in mid-air.

Nexas sighed, leaning up ffrom his chair. “Somebody could have been in here you know” he said, running a hand through his hair, despite knowing the entrance door was locked.

“Oh please…who else comes here but me?” replied a raspy voice.

“Tuche”

As he said that, lines around the floating folders shivered and connected with each other rapidly into a scaley pattern, forming a purple violet strand with hints of blue and green. Accompanied by four feet, four arms, and a tail, Randall Boggs gave a grin at his retort. Of course he would have kept it longer if it wasn’t for the dawning headache of a cut on his forehead.

“Find what you were looking for?”

Randall murmured a chuckle, flapping the folders. “Just the bare bones…really all you get with paper” he said, straightening. With another chuckle, he rose up one of his lower hands, albiet a bit shakingly. “Found these too…guess Petey used them for toxicly-inclined guests” he chuckled.

Nexas eyed the two cigars in his hand. “Well I don’t smoke…” he started, leaning back. “And neither do you…and don’t even think of starting…those things can kill ya”

Randall blinked, looking at the folders. “Better by my own design than someone else’s” he said, tossing the cigars in a metal trashbin in front of Nexas’s desk. He didn’t say anything further, just taking a “seat” in one of the spare blue cushioned chairs in the corner behind the desk, near a palm tree in a pot that he pushed out of his reading sight.

General Notice: There will soon be a set way to open up the individual Pixar worlds mentioned. Please refrain from unlocking any of these worlds manually. Any worlds that have already been opened may remain open, however.

Preliminary Warning: Despite the fact that this is a role-playing game, and one which is meant to be played out in a realistic format, no verbally abusive language is to be uttered in this thread. Questionable behavior is also prohibited. Thank you in advance for adhering to these rules and regulations.

My apologies for neglecting this thread, everyone! It’s high time I returned to the game…

Location: Personal Office (entitled “Cougar Canyon”), Hallway 23-19, Second Floor, Pixar Animation Studios.

Occupation: Technical Lighting Assistant

Currently Working On: Toy Story 3

Action: Mitch hurriedly shuffled around a hoard of loose papers on her desk, desperately searching for something she had misplaced. Papers flew here, pencils flew there; cupboards were opened and drawers were closed. Distraught, she made for Hannah’s cubicle…

“Hannah! Oh, Hannah!” Mitch called, as she sprinted towards Hannah’s cell, earning many a curious glare from passer-by in the process. “Hannah!” she panted, as she reached her co-worker’s cubicle at last. “Hannah, have you see-. Have you se-,” Mitch gulped, trying to catch her breath. “Do you know where my Cintiq pen is? I swear, I th-think I lost it!” Now full of oxygen, Mitch extracted a thin piece of string from her pocket and began twisting it in her fingers. Adding idiocy to nonsense, she added rather clumsily, “Oh, umm, my apologies for rushing off so suddenly back at the Luxo Cafe, by the way. I got a call from my supervisor and I had to dash off unexpectedly.”

– Mitch

OoC: I’m pretty sure you were talking about me, Mitch, so you could just have went and posted my name instead of hiding about it. It was all in good fun, and I had thought role-playing is something like acting, and that it was alright to ‘play the role’ of the semi-antagonist in this game, but I guess it was not acceptable in accordance with the mods’ standards.

Ah, well, don’t worries, I won’t be causing anymore trouble in this thread; I’m quitting. Pop your confetti and drop your balloons, guys. :stuck_out_tongue:
