I’m still waiting to hear. I just want to know one way or the other at this point i’m just scared my application arrived late seein as i sent it from the UK and sometimes us customs are a bit mean
I haven’t heard either. Although I really don’t know if they got my application. Kicking myself for not sending 2 copies, one to the actual “attn” that we were supposed to send it to - at least for some peace of mind. That’s what I get for waiting til the last minute before it was due!
anyone hear anything about the publicity internship?
so…are these rejections coming as email or snail mail? a masochistic question, i know, but i’d like to brace myself.
email.
(Thought I haven’t received anything this year either)
I’m currently watching Paths to Pixar from The Incredibles bluray. There was a guy at Pixar who worked at an insurance company for a while before he ever landed a job in the industry. He would take long lunch breaks just to drop in on some art houses to try and get jobs there. He eventually landed a job at Warner Bros and then later ended up at Pixar.
Their advice for those struggling to make it would be to learn how to pay your rent and be a creative person. Which basically means you’ll be living 48 hours a day if you have to.
Although this was for story artists I think it applies to a lot of people struggling to make it.
seems odd so many haven’t heard yet! is anyone else waiting for PUP?
I think they contact those who they have interest in first. Then contact those on their maybe list. After all that is said and done, they reject the rest who didn’t make the cut. So that might be the reason why many haven’t heard anything. They can’t get back to each applicant individually because there are just too many. It’s just easier if they take note of those they accept first since there aren’t that many in the first place, then go into the computer to send the rejection emails to those who weren’t on the acceptance list.
so… does that mean your work is bad if you got your rejection letter back on March 30?
You shouldn’t take it that way. Many many MANY people apply and not everyone can land an interview. Getting a rejection letter early on doesn’t mean you are bad. Plus they don’t just take your portfolio in account as many may think.Your background (cv) also has a lot to do with getting you an interview or not. I know that’s how I got mine 2 years ago.
I don’t think your work is necessarily bad if you don’t hear back. I just think there are just better people in line. It reminds me of a math class I took. Everyone did extremely well on the exam, but it was curved so even though my percentage was a 95%, it was a C because I didn’t do as well as the others who scored 100%.
Hey, guys. Long time reader, first time poster.
So, I applied for the camera & staging position, but after finding last year’s “winning” entry, I kind of feel like drinking bleach. So, I’m 98% sure I’m just waiting for a heart-felt rejection letter.
For those of you who are starting to get feedback, when was your original due date? Just curious about a time frame.
Has anyone been successful with traditional film submissions? My entire reel is, as was such-and-such’s staging reel from last year. Just curious.
And lastly, how have you been submitting your reels? Just a DVD in a jewel case, or did you mail a presentation? I built a portfolio book, complete with magnetic clasps, because it’s a visual company, but now I’m afraid I just appear crafty. Pfft.
Good luck to everyone!
I got another email 2 days ago. (My initial phone interview for PUP was about 3 weeks ago) They told me that I am still in consideration and would be making final decisions sometime in the next couple of weeks. I was glad to get something because in waiting for so long, you begin to lose faith. To everyone else who applied, good luck and keep your hopes up!
Good luck, I hope things work out for you.
Hmm, not really what i was asking; I was asking; what did it mean for people like me that got rejection letters early on? (March 30) Does it mean our portfolios were by chance reached early on, or does it mean I was kicked out on the first round of judging?
One thing I currently adore Disney’s career website for it their application status bars, they are heaven-sent; I only wish pixar had the capability or man-power to do so also. Then there would not be the hordes of worried masses They would be slightly more assured worried masses XD.
Oh good question…hrmms…no idea.
The status bar is a nice feature and I used to constantly check it until I received an email from them telling me to stop checking constantly. Just kidding!! But they did email me to let me know that they will be reviewing applications in a few weeks which I’m guessing means next week.
Sorry to be derailing from pixar stuff, but how long did it take you to hear back from disney in the past, Joro?
lol, you and your teasing. you almost had me going there; ALMOST XD
I never applied to Disney before so I wouldn’t know. Sorry!! This would be my first time, but I at least have a recruiter I can email this time.
