Now that it’s beginning to happen, now what people are getting accepted and rejected

Story I imagine that’s just how HR/recruiters/hiring managers get through the applications as is similar with other studios. If I recall correctly from a previous year’s thread, someone said Pixar interviews candidates in waves for the same department/position.
Really? Ok. Didn’t know that.
So there’s still hope! ![]()
Well. Someone is working late at Pixar. Got rejected for the production management internship round 11PM.
Just checked and saw that profile was updated yesterday.
So I checked my portfolio and I see have a page view from the USA.
I don’t really think I have a chance but I guess the story internship is next…
so hang in there!!!
Hi everyone, you can call me Dana. I’m a new poster here, but I’ve actually been reading the summer internship forum since 2013, and this is the first year I’ve ever applied to Pixar so it’s been nice seeing everyone just as nervous and on edge as I am ![]()
I go to school and work in the bay area, and thanks to a producer on one of the projects I worked on I got to visit Pixar a couple of times already. I never got the full tour but I sat in the conference rooms and ate at the Luxo cafe and cereal bar enough to know that it is indeed all that you’ve ever thought it would be. The environment is so friendly and collaborative and amazing! Sorry, maybe that’s not what we want to think about until we get accepted…
Anyway, I applied to the editorial internship and haven’t heard anything back yet. From what I remember in past years, sometimes you get notified in mid-May (and in the worst cases not at all)? Although I was looking through some of the old internship postings that they put up (and that I had been saving in on my computer in a word doc) and for summer 2014 editorial it said they would make final decisions within 6-8 weeks of the deadline. I can’t remember if it said anything like that on this year’s posting, but did any other department give a time frame like that? Looking back on it I’m kind of surprised that they did. My profile has never been updated since I applied and this is the start of the 8th week so if it’s true then I don’t think I got in, but like someone said, we just have to keep swimming!
Hi all!
My name is Molly and I applied for the Publicity internship at Pixar on March 27th, and still no update. This is actually the second time I applied, the first time was a few years back as a production intern i think? I was on the forum when I applied then and figured I’d introduce myself once again! I’m graduating in a months time so this will be one of the last times I actually have a chance at interning for Pixar… womp womp womp. ![]()
Hello guys,
New here, I’m happy to meet you all.
I have a question for you, according to the experience of the previous years, how much time passes from the time you have the interview and the response?
Thank you very much.
FD
Wow so much has happened since I last checked out this forum…I applied for production and haven’t heard anything but I guess if they are already sending out rejection emails they have already interviewed people. Good luck to everyone still in the process!!!
Just checking…where do you check if your application has been updated or not? Is it where you login as a former applicant on the careers page on pixar.com? Just curious!
Wow welcome to all the new members!
Momo, I applied for publicity too! Finally, someone on the same boat haha.
Retrogecko, yes! You login and it should redirect you to where it says all the positions you applied to. On the bottom, it says “last updated” and “Date applied”
Teabat & Dore Fair point about not getting an interview with rejections being e-mailed. Looks like I’ll be joining y’all soon. Best of luck for everybody still in!
Found out today that I am no longer in contention for the production internship. Oh well, if I get one somewhere else this summer I can come back next year and try again with a better resume.
I updated my vimeo demo reel this week. Since my application hasn’t been updated since I submitted it the first time…would it be safe for me to exchange the existing demo reel link for the new one? Or would that possibly mess up the application somehow? Just wondering if that’s a good idea. I have better stuff in the reel now
d0hhhboy & Teabat Actually, if y’all don’t mind me asking: when you log into your Pixar account, when does it say your application was last updated?
Hi everyone!
I’m new to the forum and I think it’s pretty awesome that there is a resource like this for potential interns. You’re all awesome.
I had a question about the Story internship: I recently received an email from Matthew Luhn stating that he would be reviewing the story submissions for this year’s internship. He also mentions checking out his Twitter for more info about what to include in a Story portfolio. Does anyone know what this means? Is it a general formality or is it a notice to create an updated story portfolio?
I had figured that because I hadn’t heard anything, I didn’t get an internship. So this is a pleasant, albeit confusing, surprise. (I also applied to the PUP Tech Artist and Animation internships, I read that PUP was done, any word on Animation?)
Thanks!
Ali Hey, welcome to the gang! I actually follow Matthew on Twitter and saw that tweet. I would take it as a pre-emptive expression of, “This is what we’re looking for,” for Story applicants… That being said, were it me, I would definitely take the opportunity to update your portfolio if possible with work that best fits their criteria.
As a side note, since this is a public forum, I heavily advise that you omit his e-mail address. Best of luck!
Hello everyone. Happy Friday. I just wanted to tell you guys that my website did get a hit from Emeryville yesterday, so I assume it was Pixar, but my Pixar profile was not updated. Just another indication that not being updated doesn’t mean you are not being looked at.
Cheers!
So production applicants…you got a rejection email or is the NLIC on the status update site?
DoreAlleyNW Prod applicant here. I haven’t received a rejection e-mail, and my account says last updated today at 11 AM. Waiting to see if this means I’ve been rejected and should expect an e-mail (currently in limbo) in my inbox later, or if it is good news. Waiting on d0hhhboy and Teabat to enlighten us!
