Pixar Summer Internship 2015

Underwood Thanks! I figured it was something along those lines, but I wanted the check and see. Sorry about that, I fixed my original post.

Ali Not a problem! I didn’t mean to sound rude, I just figured since anonymous lurkers can view these boards, it might be best. I applied for the Story internship last year, but with all the proactive reviews and meet/greets, I think Matthew and the Story department in conjunction with Recruiting might be trying really hard to put a new face on outreach. My experience with Pixar’s college campus relations has always been that they’re very promotional with PUP. Good change to see!

Underwood You didn’t sound rude at all, I totally get where you’re coming from. You never know with the Internet. How did it go for you last year? I don’t mean to pry, I’m just curious about how your reviews/meet/greets went over. I can see why they want to push PUP, from what I’ve read it seems to be a really solid program (not to mention tons of fun!) and it helps them as a company promote and eventually hire graduates with the skills they need.

@ Underwood I was updated on the 1st this month, then I was updated again when I got the reject email yesterday.

Hey, story applicants:

Did you just get an email thanking you for submitting?

Not a rejection email, just a regular thank you. Seems like the process is starting now.

I’ve got nothing in my inbox–and I can’t get into the stats check page.

Story applicants Word from Matt says to update the online portfolio only if there are additional storyboard examples to include (hand drawn boards over animatic reels preferred). Final decisions for Story interns will be made by May 5th. Best of luck!

Thanks for the response, Teabat! Best of luck with your other summer apps.

Ali I’m glad to answer! I don’t go to an art school but rather a liberal arts university in a huge college city, so the Pixar recruits that came around the circuit were interviewing mainly for PUP and technical internships. Unfortunately, I’m way more artistically-inclined and not the best computer scientist: a year ago, I was a lot less informed about different positions in animation, so I applied to Story and Art, not incredibly sure of the difference – I have definitely advanced since then, haha! One of the recruiters spoke briefly about some production openings, but her advice was mainly to check the careers site. This past year, I was part of the staff at CTN, and helped specifically with the exhibitors – it was Pixar’s first year with a booth. I spoke to some of the recruiters after assisting them throughout the weekend and dropped by their table several times to hand off my resume and speak about their Production Management internship. I believe, but I’m not sure, Matt was there several times to critique boards. They were expending a lot of their energy answering questions and going over work; it was super great!

Thanks Underwood! That is some good information to know.

What about other internships?

Hi everyone! New to the forum, so very cool to see such a great community here! Just thought I’d let ya know that I got a view today on my reel (applied for the animation internship), so I guess they’re starting with animation internships now too! AHH

HEy guys!

I’m also new here. I was also a finalist on the BlueSky Visdev internship. Just got my reject today…oh well ! Did anyone apply for the DreamWorks summer Art dev internship? They just removed it last Friday from their website. I had applied but didnt get a response that they got the email.

Anyone know if WDAS sends out rejection notices or any other updates like that after you apply? Or what the normal turn around time is?

I just got Matthew’s email

Teabat Unfortunately, I don’t have much news on the deadlines of the other internships. You can google the career dashboard timing if it’s a WDAS position through Disney PI’s. Otherwise if it’s a WDAS through their own site, it’s different.

Prem I didn’t apply to that DWA position this year, but I was the Art Dev intern last summer at DWA! : - D I can tell you that from last year, they started interviewing last week of April and they didn’t used to send notification of receiving e-mail applications. Good luck!

Guys sorry if I ask you again, but from the previous years experience, do you know how much time it takes from the last interview, to the acceptance/rejection?

Thank you.

FD

@ToyStoryShark Is Mathew sending out emails to all the story people with updates? I feel like the people waiting to hear for other internships are sitting off to the side with hungry eyes for updates 8D

@firedraken I think it just really depends on how many applicants, how many positions are available, and what internship. From my understanding, I think on the 2014 summer thread, at the mid to the end of May, people just got phone calls of acceptance and didn’t even have interviews (or that was what I gathered from the thread).

Story applicants Word from Matt says to update your storyboards by e-mailing him! Short, completed stories over moments from longer features. Boards over animatics. Deadline to update is May 1st. Looks like you guys won’t have any interviews! Best of luck on the portfolios, guys!

Underdog That’s super cool! Recruitment events are always a blast. Also thanks for the info on decision dates, so glad the final submission date is May 1st. Hopefully I can finish fixing up some of mine.

So Awesome!! Good luck story applicants!! :]

I wonder if that decision deadline will be similar to the Animation one? The suspense is killer!
