It’s very possible these candidates got offers from other studios that forced Pixar to make decisions about them earlier than expected. I was offered an internship with another studio in mid-March, contacted Pixar about my app’s status, and had an interview and offer within two days.
I didn’t know we could do that i was offered an internship in New Zealand in february and have been delaying booking my plane tickets waiting for an answer from pixar… Can I ask who you contacted? Was it by phone or via email?
Same, I’ve been offered another one as well but want to see what happens with Pixar if anything. But I also feel like Production Interns don’t have a lot of bargaining leverage compared to other interns lol.
Yeah, I know the feeling. I don’t feel like my showreel is good enough to ask for any favors or specific information haha… But even still I would like to be officially rejected by pixar before booking anything in New Zeland ^^
Sorry if I missed it on this forum, but what kind of internship in Pixar did you applied for? If its art, may I see your portfolio?
Btw, this is really good when you are so initiative!
@Toda I emailed a recruiter I knew personally from SIGGRAPH and an on campus event, but you could try emailing the recruiting address! @IAMATOY not sure how production interns differ from others, but I had to accept my other offer within 3 days, and that’s why I emailed directly. @tory this was my first post but I’ve been watching some of the discussion! I will be a Rendering TD, so not an art role. You’re still welcome to look at my reel here: youtube.com/watch?v=9biHR7qxqPI
Still awaiting a reply, I asked a friend at Pixar who was an animation intern 3 years ago when he got accepted and her said mid April! So as far as art positions, LITERALLY any day now. LITERALLY checking my emails as soon as I wake up every morning!
I’m joining the wait here. I applied for the animation internship all those weeks ago, and the past few days I’ve been waiting very actively, so I found this forum. I think they might be going through the animation applications now. Last week I got an email from a previous instructor who works at Pixar and he asked me to send a link to some shots he liked that weren’t on my reel. He didn’t say why and I didn’t dare ask, but I assume it’s about the internship.
Does anybody know how many animation interns there usually are in the summers? And how many that apply?
I don’t know about how many people apply each year, but there are 8-10 spots for the animation internship (according to the recruiter that came to our university).
