Pixar rules. Dreamworks drools. Hahaha.
Haha! Totally!
I’m really happy TS3 has crossed over the $1 billion mark! Hurray! Although it doesn’t come to much of a surprise…
Anyone want to guess DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital Movie sales peeps?
It might pass up finding nemo as best selling dvd of all time.
I think Toy Story 3 has definately done its job, and finally gets the regognition it deserves as well. Well done Pixar.
Katzenberg initially interfered with the first movie in 1993 while working as some sort of Executive Producer by insisting on an ‘edginess’ in the characters that was interpreted as an obnoxious Woody, umm, more like sandpaper. Then He viewed the movie and asked the guy sitting next to him “Why is it so bad?”. Disney dumped the idea of funding anything more with the production, so the Pixar peeps rewrote the story and I suppose gave the bigwigs a storyboard of the reworked film. I don’t think that J.K. had anything more to do with it, altho what I’ve read doesn’t address this.
Here is a good link from TheHollywoodReporter.com, which is a rehash of what we been saying here the past 3 weeks:

“We are truly witnessing history being made.” Well, I thought that when I saw that Alice had topped a Billion. It was the first film in that club that I thought didn’t deserve even half the audience. Also, when Ice Age 3 passed up Nemo with its immense overseas take of $690M, 3rd highest in history, a number that our toys can only approach, but won’t be able to surpass this year, I thought “Wow, all that money to make even more bland movies”. For me, in retrospect, history was being made in 1995, with the 1st CGI animated film, and again and again and again (esp in 2008, tee-hee) since. Thank goodness for that.
As of today, Toy Story 3 has officially grossed over a billion dollars. It becomes only the seventh movie in history to do so, the first and only animated movie. Toy Story 3 is now the seventh highest grossing movie of all time and is expected to pass The Dark Knight tomorrow and Alice in Wonderland in the coming week, placing it as the fifth highest grossing movie of all time and the number one movie of 2010. Toy Story 3 now sits among the ranks of Avatar, Titanic, and Pirates of the Caribbean as a groundbreaking, blockbuster film.
We are truly witnessing history being made.
Congratulations to Lee Unkrich, Pixar Animation Studios, The Walt Disney Company, and to the world, for supporting such a critically acclaimed movie. Animation as a whole gains more respect every minute.
So let’s go on out there and cherish this film “to infinity and beyond!”
All the better knowing that most all of us made a contribution to this achievement!
See ya Dreamworks!!!
Toy Story 3 now has $1,000,519,000 worldwide.
Do you think it could past Lord of the Rings: Return of the King? It’d need another 119 million.
It’d be cool if it did, but it’s like chopperface said, the gravy train only lasts for so long.
If it passes LOTRs 3, I will be truely amazed.
I haven’t done it yet, so I have to officially congratulate EVERYONE at Pixar for this astounding achievement. I’m absolutely thrilled for everybody here, at Pixar, and in the world. YAY FOR TS3!!!
I feel the Dreamworks-taunts here is not good sportsmanship, but massive congrats to Pixar! Performing the impossible seems to be a regular occurence for these guys.
New total: $1,012,126,000
Only 12 million behind Alice In Wonderland which will be surpassed easily by next weekend making TS3 the biggest movie of the year.
What I said was in jest. I love some of Dreamworks films and Shrek 1 and 2 crack me up every time I watch them. However Toy Story 3 has heart and soul. It made me cry, laugh, think and it deserves every last penny for the wonderful story that has captivated millions of people across the world.
Actally The Dark Samurai it will still have to beat movies after Alive.
4.Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest- $1,066,179,725
3.The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King- $1,119,110,941
2.Titanic- $1,843,201,268
1.Avatar- $2,741,640,721
‘‘Only 12 million behind Alice In Wonderland which will be surpassed easily by next weekend making TS3 the biggest movie of the year.’’
I wonder if it will get in the top 5.
