rachel - Oh yeah, Toy Story 2 was based in a solid and known location, wasn’t it? Doesn’t the title of the airport give it away or something? (Don’t ask me why, but, personally, I was always under the impression that Andy and his mother and sister resided in either Chicago or Seattle.)
And cha – the word “dude” is fun to say! I hardly ever call my sister by her first name anymore, actually, and vice versa. ![]()
I always thought the airport was based in New York…but I’ve never even been on that side of the country so I wouldn’t know.
Has anyone here started using “dude” more often - thanks to me? ![]()
Actually, you’re right! You spurred it on! Way ta’ go, dude. ![]()
But really, we must get back on-topic… Heh.
I did a quick check of Al’s license plate in Toy Story 2. Where the state would normally be listed, the plate instead says “Tri-County”. So no clues there. But you know, I don’t think the Toy Story movies are supposed to be set in a specific place. In fact, I kind of prefer it that way. It feels more universal, adding to the movie’s timeless charm.
Anyway, back on topic, Ratatouille’s now reached $169.1 in the U.S. and $37.5 outside of the states, meaning that the film has just topped the 200 million mark worldwide, with a current total gross of $206.6 million. Way to go, Pixar, keep it up! ![]()
Woo! Go Ratatouille! I hope it becomes a steady little earner, over the coming few months. I want it to break $300 million, but I’m not that up-to-date on box office figures, so I don’t know whether this would be feasible, or not.
Well, Toy Story is meant to be in an American city at least, but with the suburbs not too far away. The toys walked from Andy’s house to the city overnight. Which wouldn’t be a very long time considering how slow they would have walked. So that rules out New York, I think.
Way to go, Pixar and Ratatouille!! Keep it up! ![]()
Shark Bait - Oh yeah – Tri-County. Hmm. Oh well…
Not bad! It finally exceeded the $180 million mark…
Thanks for the update, Bill! ![]()
I hope nobody’s said this before but, Ratatouille made 10-20 less than expected on its opening weekend, but has exeeded its expectations by more than that! ![]()
As far as predictions go for me:
This week: $10 million
Next Week: $5-7 million
Later: about $200 million over-all
Rank: Pixar #6
Rank: Computer Animation #9 in between Happy Feet and Cars
Only 20 million left before it breaks the 200 million mark. I hope it can do it.
Ratatouille opens tomorrow in France. I won’t be able to see it until saturday though.
I’ll let you know how it does here ![]()
Have a great time, Archibald! I’m sure you’ll love it. ![]()
Nice to have some international people seeing it (finally!)…![]()
You will love it archibald. I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes one of your favorite movies.
Hehe, here in Portugal it’s going to open in exactly two weeks!
jumps off chair I’m so excited!
Another worldwide update: Ratatouille opened in six new countries this past weekend, most notably Japan and South Korea, where it earned $4.1 and $1.9, respectively. I was kind of disappointed in Japan’s opening, since past Pixar films (with the exception of Cars) earned between $50-$100 million there, and it doesn’t look like Ratatouille is going to make it. Mexico is still Ratatouille’s front-runner for worldwide box office, as the total is now up to $14.2 there, passing Car’s $12.9 and quickly catching up to Incredibles $16.
Overall, Ratatouille has now earned $50.9 million outside the U.S., and, added to it’s state-side total of $180.9, the worldwide total now sits at $231.8. As Archibald stated, the movie opened in France today. It should be interesting to see how it does this coming weekend.
Shark Bait - Interesting. You wouldn’t think that Mexico would be the one to contribute the most to Ratatouille’s world-wide release…
Thanks for the compilation. ![]()
crosses fingers for France
I think France will do great for ratatouiile. I ain’t worried.
