I hope the next Disney’s next 2D film is ambitious and a little risky.
Same. It may pay off.It has happened before.
Yep. I hope it’s risky like Atlantis and Treasure Planet were, but those were killed off by the excecutives.
Well some people think Traure Planet didn’t do well since it was releashed the same time as Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers were, not sure about Atlantis. Releash dates are always important as you don’t wanna open up on a weekend with another movie you know will do better.
Disney does that a lot.
Well, at least you’ll get an animated Frankenweenie 8D
Don’t forget the bad marketing too… Treasure Planet was one of Disney’s biggest bombs although it did well on home video.
Both of these comments are full of win. and that video is great!
I’m not sure what I even want to see Disney do now, honestly. Sometimes their edginess is successful in terms of quality (Emperor’s New Groove) and other times it isn’t (Chicken Little); sometimes their ambitious adventures aren’t bad, either. I’d like to see them do more films along the lines of Lilo and Stitch. It has some edge that undoubtedly defines it from other animated films, but its foundation is rooted in strong characters and surprisingly complex but relatable relationships. So basically, I don’t want to see Disney do all fluff and no stuff. I want a good heart to every film they do. They’re getting a little better with that. Princess and the Frog could have had a little more “stuff” (and yes, better music), and Tangled was pretty balanced between fluff/stuff (I can’t believe I’m still using these silly words, but you get what I mean).
I wouldn’t mind seeing that with a good story.
Would anyone like to see another 2D animation/live action movie?
Aren’t we getting that with Phineas and Ferb next year?
In a slightly related note, I’ve JUST finished the shooting script from the hand-drawn animated short film that I wrote a couple of weeks ago.
Awesome! I would love to see it when it’s finished.
I hope you can. The problem is how.
What’s it about?
Sadly, we aren’t in the liberty to discuss about it since we’ve made a non disclosure agreement
But it’s Fantasy.
That sucks. Hope it turns out good.
No idea how long info stays available on Facebook entries, but here are some from Disney’s Animation Research Library:
Just in case time does away with the entries, they mention a possible upcoming hand-drawn feature by Ron Clements and John Musker, as well as a short (“Paperman”) that blends 2D and CG animation and will play before Wreck-It Ralph.
My guess is either Mort or Fraidy Cat as the next hand drawn film from WDAS.
