Surf's Up

PV - Join the club. We had

a tornado watch in effect until midnight last night. I’m just glad your okay.

It was a pretty big storm system. It hit here just after

I got out of the movie and took out some seriously big trees in detroit.

Wow - we don’t really get tornadoes. Just rain. But I’m glad your okay

PixarVixen.

That was totally awesome, dude. Seriously man, I haven’t had so much fun watching a movie

since…Finding Nemo came out in theaters. It was so radical, dude…

So

yeah – I loved it!

Wow, so many positive reviews! I

really gotta see it now! :stuck_out_tongue:

okay, positive review, maybe i’ll watch it.

Gasduude - You should, especially since your screen name has the word

“dude” in it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Are there

any female characters in this movie?

The Star Swordsman - Indeed, there are. There is Cody’s mother

(whose name escapes me) and Cody’s love interest (who goes by the name of Lani). I particularly like Lani. She

has a very cool personality.

Lani is the female lifeguard.

I’m glad everyone else who had storm trouble is

okay.

~~=oP

Lani

is the lifeguard
Katey is one of the little kids
Edna is Cody’s mom

Ah, how is the animation and the surfing?

Beautifully done. Best water rendering I’ve seen yet. And in the credits there’s a

list of surfers they consulted with, apparently.

Glad you’re okay PV.We were going to get storms, but I didn’t

really notice them.

Pretty much the only TV warning we got was not even for our state! My sisters heard

some beeping and ran into the living room. They saw a warning and started to get a little freaked out. Not to

worry though, it was a channel from New York, lol! :stuck_out_tongue:

( I don’t live far from NY,but I’m not giving you

the exact location,obviously.)

I still think that was an omen

The weather didn’t stop me

toda-aay. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, what a unique animated movie. Surf’s Up is set up like a

documentary. A camera crew (one of whom is voiced by director Ash Brannon) follows Cody Maverick from his

hometown to film his trials and errors during the surf competition. The interaction between the characters felt

so real to me.

~~=oP

I really liked the

mockumentary style too. Definitely made up for the crude humor used in there and really was a unique method of

telling the story. Sets it apart from other animated films and helps it get past the narrow-minded "Happy

Feet goes tropical" mindset some people have been getting about it…

I think lots of people feel that way about that movie. At least that the reason the newspaper

is attributing to it, since it only debuted at #4

PV - I agree: the interaction between the characters felt smooth and natural, as if

they talked like that to each other every day. It didn’t sound “rehersed”, so to speak…

I

must also admit that this film seemed rather “refreshing” to watch…compared to all the other flicks

that have hit theaters so far. It paused during specific moments and allowed the audience to

just…relax for a bit.

The concept of the film being played out like a

documentary feature was also rather intriguing and unique. Again, it felt natural and enjoyable instead of

pressured and stressed; one of those rare films that doesn’t give you a migrane head-ache during the action

sequences… Heh.

Welp, I’m glad you liked it, PV!

Well guys, here’s the opening weekend gross.
