The Incredibles BOOM Comic Book Series

No,I have NO money, especially now. They sliced our food stamps in half :frowning:

oooh, ouch, that sounds bads.

Ohh that sounds terrible.

It is :frowning:

I read the latest issue of the Incredibles comic book series from Boom. I have to say that this issue was fairly good.

[spoil]It turns out, roots have been springing up all over Metroville and have been capturing its citizens. Bob and Lucius don their suits and start their search. I’ve noticed that there were a few references to the Tise of the Underminer game. For in order for the readers to understand what Bob and Lucius were reminicing about, you have to play the game or be familiar with it.

Anyways, we see Violet and Helen being lowered into the Underminer’s lair. They had a chance to break free, but Helen decides to wait and see what is really going down. We end the issue with tow things: Bob and lucius comes in to the rescue, but Helen and Violet about to be dropped into danger, and a whole bunch of Super Villains from the past issues just about ready to mesmerize the whole city.[/spoil]

Over all, it was an enjoyable issue. THis really goes deeper into the real plot of the story. And this could only set up for something bigger and better down the road.

I got the most recent issue. [spoil]Appearently, it’s the second to last issue of this story arc before it’s conclusion. We start out with an epic fight scene where Violt, Helen, Bob, and Lucius gets a lot of action. in this. I really liked it. i felt that it excited me the most. We learn that The Underminer is using a giant robot with the Incredibles i on it’s chest to wreck metroville. While Bob tries to stop the Underminer, we meet another villain, the Ungorilla, after apperently being injected by a super serum, or a lot of steroids, and we conclude with the Underminer about to fight the Ungorilla.[/spoil]
overall, I really enjoyed it. It’s been about 14ish issues, and I’m still folowing it.

Okay, I know it’s been a while. Sorry  . Anyway, I’m gonna keep the reviews short from now on. I think TSS has got the stories covered  . I’ll just cover highlights, overall review, and of course my favorite panel.

[spoil]Anyway, issue 11 was pretty good. I loved the part with Xander and Violet, but I found the conclusion with Mrs. Incredible kinda disappointing. But I loved the art! My favorite panels were the one of Violet just after they were swallowed by Tronasaurus, and the one of Violet and Xander after Dash found them out. I‘d give this issue 8/10 (extra points for the better handling of Xander). But TSS is right, Violet’s getting a little over confident. The overall story, I give a 7.8/10. I was disappointed. But, I took notice, Mark Waid‘s not writing anymore. It‘s someone else entirely: Landry Walker. That might be it.[/spoil]

I’ll save the next arc for later. I’ve gotta get to bed. Just one thing: [spoil]Anyone else think that freaky weird red-head dude is related to Syndrome <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif” alt=“o_0;;” title="You

Whaaa…" /> :exclamation: He looks just like him, but thinner![/spoil] It’s freaking scary :open_mouth: !

Personally, I’d like to see something major happen. Hopefully it’ll come in the next arc. As I said before, [spoil]I think something is gonna happen to one of the kids, and Helen’s gonna go ballistic and keep them off the field. Consequently, they’ll turn vigilante.[/spoil] It just needs something more provoking, and that makes the characters seem less “untouchable.” And, Violet has yet to have her own arc  …. Well, all in good time.

Man, new issue is a pretty shocking lead-in for Unforgiveables. The frame-job the villains were working towards with that red Iron Giant-esque Omnidroid and that hypnotic amplifier succeeded in turning the city against the Supers and Underminer got freaking shot dead by Xerek after he objected to being treated as a pawn like so many others Xerek’s been pawning.

Dude, I just read the comic, and I have gotta say that it was such an intense ending, probably the best ending I’ve ever read.

Well, the two month delay is growing even more concerning now. Diamond Comics cancellation list seems to be listing the delayed issues of Incredibles, Toy Story, Cars and Muppet Show. However, it could be that all these series are just being held back until sometime next year considering a blog entry by the writer of Muppet Show explaining just that, though also announcing that said delayed Muppet arc would be his last.

It’s nice to see Boom releasing all this classic Disney comics content, but not at the cost of fresh new series.

I noticed there has been a long delay as well. I’m not sure if the series has been canceled or postponed. BUt I’m really hoping that they didn’t cancel. It would be a bummer if they left the reader hanging just like that.

Hey guys! You’re not the only ones experiencing a delay. They don’t even have it here! I got all excited when I heard you guys talking, went down, and the comic store guy says it didn’t even come out, or the it was canceled till June!!! I was upset. Can someone please tell me more? How’s Violet?! Don’t be afraid of spoilers! I don’t care! Please, just let me know how good it was.

Really? June? That’s gonna be a long annoying wait. At least the other titles they suspended all had self-contained arcs.

June? Really? That’s a long wait dude!

I know. But he said Disney might be taking back the rights, and handing it over to Marvel. I hope that’s true! I’m kina disappointed in the direction the story’s taking. So it will hopefully be in better hands. So what else happened in the story? What’s Violet up to? Spoilers, please!

Marvel? Doing the Incredibles comics? Oh my Grvy, I might read them now!! If I can get some money…

Hey Vi,

If you want spoilers, feel free to PM me. I’ll be happy to answer what ever you want to know.

Hi there. I’m the writer of the comic. I’ve actually been trying to join this forum for months, but the security code for joining was color based and I’m color blind. I kept meaning to have someone else create the ID for me, but I’m incredibly lazy. So anyway…

The book is currently on hold. I don’t know for how long. The next arc (16-19) is written (many months ago) and the first issue of it has long since been drawn. I actually started mapping this storyline out back around the time we did the first issue of the series. This arc is kind of the crazy big finale, where elements dating back from the initial mini-series and even the film all come together at once.

Anyway, I’m sorry the book is delayed. It kills me a little bit to see the series stop on the penultimate chapter. It’s kinda like if the film ended with the plane blowing up. Everything stopping on a dark note, with all the plot lines left unresolved. I’ve also been playing a long game with the title. So theoretically, if you have been following the entire run you get the advantage of a slow build to the absolute insanity that is this last arc. But without the last arc, it just kinda… ends. Darkly.

That said, it gets alot darker before the end.

If anyone has any questions about the series, please feel free to ask. And for the record, thanks to all of you who have been following it and have been reviewing it. Comics based on films are a surprisingly thankless job, not considered as “real” as a movie and usually held in comparison to something that has motion and audio on it’s side. So again, thanks. Being able to follow the reviews and reactions to the series as it has unfolded has been awesome.

Wow, the actual writer of the TI Comic book series… here on Pixar Planet? Oh my God, it is such an honor to meet you! Glad you’ve decided to join Pixar Planet. I’m The Star Swordsman, or TSS for short. As many members can verify, I am the biggest Incredibles fan in this entire planet! And I’m so excited about Boom’s Incredibles Series. but enough about me.

I’m glad to know that the next arc has been delayed instead of canceled. It’s very comforting to know that you guys are still continuing with this. Just reading your post about what to expect in the next arc only makes me very excited to read it. I hope to read it soon.

I just want to know why the long delay? I remember that the Incredibles comic issue was released on a regular basis in every comic store I go to, month after month. but why the delay? Was it the holidays? Or some other reasons that would be too tedious to go through. Any idea when you guys are gonna release the next issue?

Comics are a thankless job huh? Well, let me thank you and the rest of the staff for creating these issues. I swear, people take comic books for granted. Making these must be hard work for you guys. For that, i just want to say that I appreciate the hard work you put into it. Keep up the great work you guys. You guys, not Marvel or Dark Horse, are the reason why I started to get into comic books.

I’m just glad to finally manage to get my forum membership through. And no need to verify anything. I’ve seen evidence of the dedication that members of this forum have all over the internet. I tend to keep an eye on what vocal fans have to say. Interaction with readers is one of the more rewarding aspects of the job.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any specifics in regards to scheduling plans yet. But I’ll absolutely post any new info as soon as I am able. I know that it’s very frustrating to get to this point in the story and then have to wait. Well… it’s frustrating for me. I assume everyone else in the world must automatically share my pain. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that myself and the staff at Boom haven’t just vanished and that the Unforgiveables arc isn’t just a myth. Scripts and art have been produced, Xerek’s master plan will be revealed, the history of Bob and Helen will be explored, a member of the family will suffer terribly and everyone born on the 7th of June will…

Well, a bunch of stuff will happen. Everyone from every previous issue (that hasn’t been killed already) has a part to play. Lots of stuff. Sadly, I just don’t yet know when it will be released.
