Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

I’m glad I saved my receipt for the 3 pack. I could care less about the certificate, as they’re online at disney.com free to print off, making them too available to call a collectors thing.
What I do care about is accurate Toy Story toys, and the glow in the dark (sans glow paint) aliens are looking to be better. The squeeze appeals to me, because squeakers are twenty cents.

Is this an assumption, or do you know this for sure?

Hes right Hasbro release a potatohead release schedule
They even have a MR. POTATO HEAD POPPING TALKING TATER Toy WHICH SOUNDS A LOT LIKE THE Toy story collection Mr. Potatohead

hasbro.com/corporate/media/p … PTIONS.cfm

It’s an assumption for now, as I couldnt get through when calling, but I found enough evidence to feel good about holding off until the fall. I know how business’s work. Especially Hasbro (used to be a big star wars nerd 10 years ago) and if they get a chance to rehash, they surely will. The TSc potato head molds were an investment to them. They can sell him without electronics, and that will differ from the TSC. Thats why they have the certificates for us suckers. We “THINK” that because of the label, and paper, its more accurate, but as we’ve seen with the aliens, thats not the case, and will not be the case. The certificates is their way of getting us to pay half a hundred per toy, as opposed to in the fall when the heat has died down. But since they’re a company, they wont just not stock TS3 stuff because the collection is too damn expensive, they’ll put out their product without certificates and junk: ie potato head how he should’ve been.
The only collection I’m buying is Lotso, not even buying the collection RC. Just getting the push one to modify into a true rc car.

I don’t care about the coa. I’m more about getting the best replica. The tsc offers the best chance of that. Plus they have far more sayings than you regular doll. The only one I’m torn between is the Jessie figure as I explained on the replica thread and earlier on this one.

I personally dont care for any talking feature, I’m just after the closest to the computer model replicas and material function. Thinkway now uses models to make their toys with, email them to ask. They dont just have to be the tsc labeled lines, because the twitch sparks and chunk all come from the pixar files. Thats why I think the coa is a joke, becaue they think people are ignorant. Ignorant in that they’ll only buy it if its got some “coa”. Thats not anyones fault but thinkways for creating that false rarity. Because even the “lesser thans” that STILL use pixars files, have EVERYTHING but just conjoined if needed to keep mold costs down.

Why did pixar make the tsc aliens made of hard plastic and then make the ts3 aliens made out of soft plastic ??? dies anyone have a hamm for sale on ebay (uk) for around £20 ???

I agree with what you say. The only thing with the tsc version that you get are better paint detailing and oddities like hat stitching and buttons. That’s enough though to make them up the price. It’s not just about the coa.

Got rex and rc today for my birthday !!! They are great ! The only thing is I need to take rc back to toys r us as the bottom wheel keeps jamming and is making a terrible noise !! Getting a new one tomorrow can’t wait

For most industry toy collectors, the source, a licensed company, along with the product, COA and packaging all plays an important role in the collectors mindset for how it holds its value. There may be inaccuracies or imperfections, but for the collector, that is just part of the issue of collecting mass produced goods.

There are the die hard collectors, those that show up on dedicated forums such as this that look past that for the best of the best in the toys themselves and generally have higher expectations than the licensee or producer. Its all par for the course, that is the reality of most collectible manufacturers.

In the end, I have found it is best that you collect things because you like them. Anything else takes away from the enjoyment of the hobby and collection. Because at the end of the day, in the big picture, these are toys.

The one thing I do wish is that manufacturers would look for those making these to be as finicky as those fanatics out there. However, you have to understand there will always be those that you cannot please.

As I noted earlier, I am happy that Pixar is tackling this franchise again and looking to make a better replica. It may not be perfect, but the TSC series is the best of what is out there and I am happy to be able to add them to my collection. The length of this thread shows that there are quite a few that must appreciate this as well.

I just came from toys r us and target

My toys r us did have some cool stuff like the chatterphone and the tsc potato head and other little figures but no bullseye or jessie (only her sticker)

my target is pathetic, they only have 3 woody’s and 2 bucket o soldiers

I’m not really disappointed because I have potatohead and hamm the ones i wanted the most (thanks again kyle)

Yay!!! I finally got the Toy Story Collection Mr Potato Head! He’s so cool and I love how they actually used Don Rickles’ voice! It was really weird finding him in the store, as I think a lot of people have mentioned. He wasn’t in the Toy Story section, but then I remembered to check in the Mr. Potato Head area (like many of you had suggested) and they had him! I’m so ecstatic!

More pics from me to come.

I was at Target today and i did see the single alien (not gonna get it though considering I already spent my $30 on the 3 pack) and I saw woody’s box had the white collection logo and buzz’s and the bucket o soldiers still had the blue one. I looked around his box and saw no differences. Why does he have a white logo and the others don’t?

thats what im wondering and his arm is in front of his nameplate and it says deluxe

I emailed Thinkway about it but they just seem to ignore

If thats the case
im Want a replaement

I think the white just stands out more, which is what they want. and happens to be the opposite of what we want, but whatever. the point is they dont need some major reason, companies make minor changes to packaging all the time. it all boils down to what they think will “pop” more when looking at them on the shelves.

And I too didn’t spot any single pack aliens at target when I checked today. was kinda disappointed, but I probably don’t have money to spend any way if I want Jessie soon. so maybe its better I didnt find it today.

Hey Kyle, how were you able to shorten the legs of your Mr. Potato Head? Do you open up his entire body or should I start from screws at the bottom of his shoes?

I technically haven’t gotten around to actually shortening them yet, for now the legs are on stand by, the potato is resting directly on the shoes.

You have to open up the potato completely to do it though. its up to you if you want to remove the legs from the shoes, depending on how you want to shorten them. if you plan to cut the bottom off, you’ll need to unscrew the shoes, but if you plan to cut from the top, you might not need to. I planned on cutting off the bottom so I unscrewed the shoes. But Tyler has suggested I do it from the top. if I do it right not only will the electronics still work, but his legs and shoes will be removable like the rest of his pieces.

Im debating waiting till the new potatohead comes out thogh, because I may just end up selling this one to replace it with that.

Then again, a custom one could probably go for even more on ebay. assuming I do it right.

Review of Utility Belt Buzz, parts 1 & 2 (not mine). He doesn’t mention if the belt comes off, but it looks like a no. Sorry guys. He has new sayings when you press the belt, but it doesn’t look like he loses any from before. Still glow in the dark, still interactive flying, etc. Only thing is I think the box is ugly as sh**. It’s crapped up with Try Me signs and I hate the white logo.

I don’t know why anyone ever expected the belt to come off. it never came off in the movie, its safe to assume this is accurate to the movie in that regard. Sure, normal buzz looked as if he was going to try and remove it, but we don’t know if he would have succeeded.

I thought normal Buzz held the belt individually…
