At last! Just got the last part if wave 1, the bucket of soldiers. They look very nice indeed, perhaps to nice. I would have liked a little ‘flashing’ on them. It’s how they looked in the film and when I had them as a kid.

Well it just would be nice if they could make new and different toys, even not in the Collection line but just in general, rather than going back and taking something that a lot of us on here have already purchased, and making it a little better, or a little different, just enough so that they can mark it as new, and so that those who already have it will want to buy the new improved versions. I know that it’s just business to them, and this is their way of staying afloat in the hard economic times, but they already overcharge us for extra things with the Collection toys, and then they go and re-do a certain aspect of them to make it a little closer to the movie and make a cheaper version, which makes ours less than the closest replica to the film versions.
With this line being touted as the “Exact replicas of the toys on screen”, and they are just going to add something to it and slap a label on it that says “NEW FEATURE” 6 months down the road, knock off 10 bucks, and before you know it we have the 7th or 8th version of the “Definitive” Buzz Lightyear. I guess what I’m getting at is that while I know they’re a business, I just wish that we, the collectors who are fueling a good portion of their TSC sales, could get a little loyalty from the company just the same as we have given them.
Oh yeah, that book is sooo totally worth the money! I actually got it on a discount over at amazon.com for $15.
By the way guys, I took apart my Mr. Potato Head and now his shoes are removable. Here’s the process of how to take apart your Mr Potato Head
start with the five screws on the back of him. Open him up like this:
on the right hand side you’ll see the part that connects the feet to the potato. simply unscrew this
once you have the feet removed, start unscrewing the bottom of the soles. You’ll need to use a specialty triangle shaped screwdriver though, but if you have a metal file and an extra screwdriver, you can DIY.
unscrew these last ones, and now his feet are removable!

Kickass Luxo lamp!!! Great work on that man. What sort of base lamp did you use, if you dont mind sharing? I wanted to pick up that pixar plastic lamp with ball key chain, but if I can make an accurate one to scale etc, I would love to.
And regarding that double dipping! Damn! $5 for 2 ARMY MEN??? The buckets ARE $10!!! I already bought 2 buckets, just to get 2 extra parachute men, and most places have the buckets on clearance at $7. This will go on all year, for years, like the poster above stated.

Thanks TylerHaslett! I actually took the base for the lamp from another lamp I found at my local Goodwill. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but it was pretty much a standard pole-based lamp.
And I agree, who in their right minds would pay $5 for two army men? I’d rather spend my money on their new aliens.

Can you link me to the larger lamp? Not sure what oversees place your talking about Ive never seen one that looked accurate enough. Usually their the clamp versions without a base. I would love to get that lamp if it was like the one in the movie in every way. well, except for color. I wouldn’t mind if it was white/grey instead of red.
As for that other custom lamp, I remember seeing that on flick a while back now. it definitely looks great when facing the camera, but profile view makes it clear its not quite right. Its still a great looking lamp though.

I just called my local TRU and asked if they had gotten the new toy story stuff in and the lady told me they did but there were a few items that wouldnt be put out until sunday. Im thinking thats the new collection toys since last time i was there i saw TS3 stuff but none of the new TSC
Mr. Potato Head actually has a great looking box. The illustrations and sample pictures are awesome. The busy design also makes the TSC logo blend in.

Yeah, like i said, that one isnt at all like the one in toy story, it has a clamp design. the one with the base has a very differently shaped head.
I saw the utiity belt buzz. He says one line i wish the normal one had been given. Theres a secret mission in uncharted space. Maybe they will add some dialougue to the rerelease of woody.
