Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

The stickers on my Buzz have been peeling slightly. Elmers has a gel blue glue that works great for carefully gluing them down.

While ont he subject of Buzz… If anyone from Pixar is taking a look, I hope they can produced the Buzz Lightyear from the second movie with the anti gravity belt. As a bonus, it would really be great if they could make the box for that figure more accurate tot he movie shelve boxes as well, move the figure feature circle and collection logo to the back of the box. Hint hint hint… really make it screen accurate for the collectors out there.

Still have not found the Deluxe Rex anywhere locally yet.

Funny about Potato Head’s size. Judging from the movie with the aliens and Potato Head and that the aliens are like 5 inches tall, I’d say he’s about 6 to 8 inches tall, but the thing that really worries me is that will Mr. Potato Head have the opening back compartment?! It would be a huge inaccuracy, especially since he has his angry eyes now! All he needs is the compartment and an extra pair of shoes and you got practically Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story 2 (Excluding the individual eyes!)

Well Ive heard he doesn’t have the compartment in the first toy story, so if true (I honestly cant remember, too lazy to verify) you could just say he’s a replica of the first version.

About the scale, the thing is, anytime you have an animated movie that doesn’t use real world objects (like stop motion) your going to have variants of size all over the films. Andy’s desk was the size of a football field at one point, I have no doubt that they scaled the toys as they saw fit from time to time. They have a size chart try try to follow, but it often gets broken when they can get away with it, it helps them compose shots better. There is techincally no actual size of these toys since they don’t exist. They are whatever size Pixar says they are.

Just checked; Mr. Potato Head doesn’t have a compartment in Toy Story. Although I really hope the toy version will have one, because I assume that the lack of a compartment was just a mistake in the first movie.

Agreed. another reason for the lack of a compartment could just be they never wrote any shots for it to open like they did in TS2.

I just noticed that in toy story 1 and 2, toy buzz has a different expression. In the first, his toy face is more of a scowl. In the second, and now third, he has a big grin. I just found that interesting

you might also notice woody’s expression varries as well. his mouth does remain mostly closed, but if you look closely it is slightly open in some shots.

Also, his expression changes completely when Andy spins around with him on the chair in TS1. His eyes become less open, and his mouth becomes more open.

As for Buzz’s expression, he does look different in TS1 than he does in TS2, but in TS3, his expression is a hybrid of his expressions in the previous two movies: He has the TS1 wide open eyes, and the TS2 smile.

Has anyone ever purchased from ToysRUs.com? They have the collection Woody back in stock and I was just wondering on how they ship their items. I want a tear, crease and dent free box! Thanks for any input! -Mark

I’ve only ever ordered two things from Toys R Us and one came in great condition with excellent packaging while the other didn’t have bad packaging but the actual box to the toy had some dings. I think it’s 50/50.

Kyle, here’s a pic of how clean I was able to make my Woody’s eyes:

Like I said, pretty much perfect. His left eye had excess paint, so I removed it.

As a bonus, here’s a small modification I made to my Woody to make it more accurate:

I colored in the white seams that go over the cow spots on his vest with a Sharpie, to make it more like the real Woody vest:

Here’s where the confusion comes in: we also have these
dcp.smugmug.com/gallery/2730334_ … 2995_2wMvB
which are listed as being about 35. that’s a pretty big price difference.
are these cheaper versions of the same toys I already posted? or are they exactly the same, with an updated price point?

It depends on your intention in buying–play toy for a child or a collectible…the ThinkWay products are more highly valued than the Matel products…also beware of counterfeit products.

all I really want is to know that the Buzz I buy will be in scale with Woody and RC.

You have to look at the model numbers they are in sequence for the items that scale together.

nice. but its hard to tell how it was fixed without a before shot. not your fault really, it just doesn’t help me much. it was his left eye you say? it looks to me like the excess paint was on his upper lid. Like the paint machine was misaligned/crooked. So if I hadn’t known better I wouldn’t think any was removed. Unless maybe some splashed?

Nice touch with the sharpie by the way, I went ahead and did that to my own.

The excess paint was indeed on his upper lid. How can you tell?

Because its still there. heh
compare the two lids, one has some on his upper lid, the other is perfect.

I think because your excess paint was on the upper lid and mine is on the lower means what worked for you might not for me. The concave I would have to get to to correct mine seems much harder to get to without removing paint I want to keep. The upper lid pops outward, while the bottom goes inward. My blade would need to be impossibly thin and sturdy I think.

LOL, where do you see remaining excess paint? The little spot of white in the right side of the left eyelid is a reflection of light, not paint, just so you know.

it just occurred to me that this isn’t his left, its mine. still, this extra paint stands out to me.

That’s the eye I meant.

You’re right, he does still have a bit of excess paint (although you can barely see it in person), but he had much more splatter in the center of that eyelid, which I removed.

Whatever. Thanks.
