I never leave batteries in anything that I am keeping MIB. MIB is not the same as NRFB. If batteries are left in the toy over long periods of time, they will eventually leak, and can damage the toy beyond repair.
There are a few of the '95 Thinkway toys that have gone up in value, such as the Poseable Woody, Bo Peep, the original Hamm, the original Buzz (with the yellow stripe box). But their value is more due to their scarcity than anything else. But in the case of each of these, as long as the box is intact, the value has not been diminished.
Grabbed a Bullseye this weekend and I’m very impressed with the size of the figure. I’m also happy that I only had to pay $50.00 (AUS) for Bullseye.
As others have noted, the quality was pretty terrible. From 10 or so figures to choose from, it really came down to deciding between two. One had great eyes, but a slight “wrinkle” on the nose. The other had decent eyes and perfect nose, but there was a large “dimple” in the neck. I ended up going with the firstmentioned Bullseye. The nose “wrinkle” isn’t too “obvious”, but it is a shame that the QC is so very poor on these figures.
I’m planning on picking up Rex this week once he goes on sale (also for $50.00 (AUS)). But I think I’ll pass on Lotso and Mr Potato Head (although I wish Hasbro would hurry up and show their supposedly screen-accurate Mr and Mrs Potato Head).
My Buzz Lightyear had a pretty bad accident regarding his wings. The wings are moved by this coil, and for some reason, the coil came loose. Luckily, my younger siblings fixed the wing pack, and’s he’s ok.
I found the last bullseye at my tru. Couldnt buy him though. By found, i mean someone had hidden him BEHIND a display cardboard piece that could be flippped up. I put him on the shelf. Im hoping he’ll be there in two days, but if not, im hoping he makes someone happy.
I think that it isn’t always a matter of quality control like a lot of you say. Nothing is perfect in this world. The Bullseye figure is a ragdoll, it is fabric stuffed with filling.
Ragdolls are not always going to be identical and perfect. There is too much variation in the fabric/amount of stuffing, placement of stuffing, etc.
I am as OCD as they come and am trying to come to terms with this. I noticed that the length on the stiching from one side to another on Bullseye’s shoulders varies too. On mine, one side has a longer line of stitching than the other side. These things aren’t perfect. Again, they are stitched rag dolls.
I think the main thing to screen is the face. Everything else is somewhat forgetable after you’ve had it for a few days.
Hi I got a question. I got my buzz a long time ago but I accidentally dropped him on soft ground one day. Regardless, my buzz has small chipped parts of the wings most likely because of the fall. Is it worth exchanging him just for this reason? I mean I do love buzz a lot but after exchanging for a new buzz already cause my original had really loose joints I don’t know if I should do it again.
I was talking about one of those buy one and replace with old toy things. I have done that for things that I really wanted to exchange. I was actually thinking of exchanging it since day one since it has an arm problem that me scared of moving it at times cause it seems to get caught with something inside.
No you cannot buy a new buzz from the store, insert an older crappy one, and return getting your money back and keeping the buzz.
That is a form of fraud and I’m sure warrants legal action. Sure you could do it, but morally, could you live with it? Knowing some kid might buy your repackaged crap.
I know but I am still pretty annoyed it ended that way. I think the only thing I can think that will make it kind of okay for the exchange is the tight arm problem that can possibly almost leading to it breaking off issue it has.
I guess it should be fine after all it is just small parts of the wing. It is a marvelous figure otherwise.
I almost did that with my Woody doll but didn’t like the idea of some kid getting my sloppy hand me downs and decided against it. It’s best just to contact Thinkway Toys if you’re unhappy with the toy.
I just got $60 and am debating whether or not I should go big and buy Jessie or just buy the Bucket of Soldiers.
I personally think Jessie needs a bit of modding before it looks really good. But the army men are perfect as is and don’t have quality issues either (that I heard of). Since a Jessie with good quality is a bit hard to come by, I advise getting her if you come across a good one since you might not have as good luck in the future. If none have a good quality, get the army men till you find a better one.
Just watch out for things like the eye, mouth, and hat paint. And button alignment. And if the hair is fine. Of course you probably know that. Also, my Jessie’s one leg is a bit shorter than the other, not sure how you would check that in the box though. The thing that bothers me the most about Jessie is the hair. for one, I want to paint the bald looking spot on the back of her head. second, the ponytail isn’t really long and skinny enough like the movie version. And in the movie it ends more like a paint brush tip, but the TSC one is going in different directions.
The army men are really just missing some poses (not sure how many) and not in a big enough bucket like the movie one. Other than that they are fine. Just make sure your bucket has the picture of Certificate of Authenticity on the side, which lets you know it’s the accurate one.
Okay thanks, I was just about to ask about the different buckets. I want to make sure I got the right one.
Yeah Jessie has some problems, when I was debating on buying her a few weeks ago I put her down immediately when I noticed a sloppy paint job of the mouth and teeth. Then when I saw her again at a different TRU she had a kind of bald spot in between her bangs. I didn’t think to look for the hat issues or the buttons, thanks for the tip!
The bucket if soldiers are nice and cheap but not wholly accurate. There is not enough ‘flash’ on the figures. Their a little too smooth for their own good. That is being nit picky though.
The bald spot on Jessie is a problem. The Mattel version has a painted head with yarn on top. It’s not a perfect solution but there’s little else you can do. I think the Mattel version is a better doll which is why I went for it. She needed slight mods, chaps etc but you won’t find a better head sculpt.
Maybe I just have low standards, but I think my 2 Jessies are great. The hat-bands and faces are painted perfectly. As for the waist-size and thickness of her braid, I would have never noticed a discrepancy from the movies.
I’m not that worried about the whole hair thing with Jessie myself. What does bug me though are the poor paint apps and her fat waist. The paint I can remedy but the body…,
Hey guys, i just came back from the post office with the TSC rex
and here are some pics comparing the 30.00 rex in toys r us from thinkway
to there TSC Rex
Height:
Length
The 30.00 rex can turn his head 360 and his legs aren’t as tight as the TSC rex
but the TSC rex is HUGE just like the movie, he is the most accurate one
