Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

Does Hamm seem easily breakable?

I did see the Peas-in-a-Pod plush on DisneyStore.com for about $8 and they look pretty good and not much money, so I would probably get a set if I ever see them at the actual Disney Store. I’m hoping Thinkway makes a Trixie in the same manner they made Rex.

And I agree about Wheezy and Lenny… I’m not going out of my way to try and hunt down the ones that are currently available, but I would buy them if accurate versions started showing up in stores. (Same goes with Bo Peep and Rocky Gibralter, although I doubt we’ll be seeing any of those four anytime soon.)

AND about Hamm… he seems like he would break IF you dropped him from a good height onto a hard surface. Maybe a leg or ear broken off if you dropped in the right way. However, he’s pretty solid and sturdy and the stuff he’s made of is pretty thick. If you’re just displaying him, he’ll last forever, but if you’re playing with him (like a toy) then I’d be careful with him. He’s an awesome figure though, and I would highly recommend him as well.

I agree, I feel that that would be nice tip of the hat, and they could even put on the package “In memory of Joe Ranft”.

As for my official list, here goes:

  1. Woody and Buzz - As stated above, it is almost impossible to have one without the other, and for me this actually was my first purchase. I watched Toy Story about 3 times a day when I first saw it as a kid, and my love for it has never ceased. I remember first reading about these two and getting really excited when I heard they were going to have all of the bells and whistles of their on-screen counterparts, but most of all, I was excited for Woody. The '95 one just didn’t cut it for me, because it didn’t look like the movie, and to my knowledge there hadn’t been an accurate one until now. Then, seeing them in the store, I was the happiest, most excited kid in the world. I literally felt like I was 5 years old again. These two hold special childhood memories for me, as I grew up with Andy, just like so many others, and so these were no-brainers for me, even at the price tag.

  2. Jessie - I don’t know what it is about her, but I feel myself drawn to her in a weird way, even though she has slightly larger proportions than her movie counterpart. My only conclusion is that perhaps subconsciously I want to “save” her, show her that her owner won’t abandon her, even though this would be a completely different toy than the movie one and they don’t really come to life (or do they?)

  3. Bullseye - I would have to say that this one would seem like a no-brainer for me, as it would complete the main foursome of characters after Toy Story 2. I would have to get Bullseye to go with Jessie and Woody, and hope that the Prospector came out soon after to complete the Round-up gang as well.

  4. RC - Even though he doesn’t go as fast as in the movies, and he doesn’t have the Turbo mode, I still love how accurate this guy is. The fact that he can move on his own is a cool feature, and plus he can complete the Rocket scene from Toy Story with Woody and Buzz.

  5. LGM’s/ Aliens - The Aliens were another one of my childhood favorites, and I remember going to Disney World and eating at Pizza Planet. I was disappointed when I saw the Crane Game Rocket Ship full of Santa Alien Plush toys, nowhere near accurate to the current ones, just a generic Alien guy from like Oriental Trading Company with a Santa Hat. Well, regardless, I wanted to play the game. After all these teenage kids had tried and failed to get anything from the machine, I got one on my first try, which gave me a little confidence boost, granted I was only 5 or 6 I believe, So anyways, having accurate Aliens was another dream of mine, even thought they don’t squeak >.<

  6. Mr. Potato Head - I agree that some of the things that are wrong with this guy would make it a tougher choice for me, but when I was a kid, my parents bought me a regular Potato Head like the Playskool one that is out now, and I couldn’t stand the fact that it wasn’t like the ol’ spud in the movie (I had the collector mantra down even as a kid hahaha). So, finally having made a look-a-like to the movie Potato Head, this one was one that even though I was somewhat reluctant due to the price tag, I had to buy.

  7. Slinky - I have a lot of stories behind these characters, so I apologize. Slinky was one of my favorites when I was younger, but the one I had got tangled and got to be dangerous, so my parents threw it out and told me they didn’t know what happened, it’s not like he could run away or anything. Well, being a kid and still truly believing that the toys did come alive, I thought he had run away, and I felt really bad because I had no idea why. Having come to terms with it since, I told my parents, and they felt bad, but I had no hard feelings about it. So, for Christmas, they got me another one,

  8. Hamm - Hamm was one of those toys that I never really had. I had the small action figure one, but that was it, and I didn’t really need the bigger one. But, after getting all the rest of these guys, I decided I wanted a Hamm bank like the accurate one in the movie. Plus, for the price, I couldn’t resist.

  9. Rex - This guy was another one that I wanted a full size version, but never got one until now, and I think that even with the lack of an articulated jaw, he is still a nice piece, plus I managed to get him on sale during the holidays.

  10. Lotso - While I understand this guy is 100% a matter of personal preference, I like him because he’s got that cute teddy bear look to him, and even though he’s a tad small, and somewhat off-model to the one in the movie, I still like this guy and his features.

  11. Utility Belt Buzz - This guy was somewhat a buy it to complete the Collection guy, but I also liked the fact that they did include a Utility Belt. Plus, if Zurg ever comes out, I would need his son so they could play catch.

  12. Army Men - These were simply a buy it to complete the Collection purchase for me, and luckily I got it for Christmas, but I still like that they are more accurate than the previous ones. Plus these are the most widely available, so getting them could have been an easy thing to do.

While I have them all listed here in the order of which I would buy them again, I still treasure them all. I’ve said it before, but I truly think that even though these guys have their flaws and quirks, I would rather have them flawed but mostly accurate rather than not have them at all. I’m a bit of a complete-ist, so I had to have the whole Collection, plus all of the others, like the Disney Store plush versions of Bonnie’s toys, Lotso’s gang, the accurate Barbie Ken two pack, Chatter Phone and Jolly Chimp eventually. But more than anything else, these guys were my childhood, just like Andy, and I know I’m not the only one, but to be able to have each of these characters in my hands has fulfilled one of my childhood dreams.

Yeah, it still throws me for a loop when people say, “I don’t know whether to get Woody / Buzz or one of the other figures.” I’m always thinking, “You don’t already have a Woody / Buzz… How is that even a question? Of course you’ve gotta get them first!”, but again… to each his (or her) own.

Thanks. After looking at prices, features, and availability in the U.S., I think I’ll settle on the Playtime Sheriff Woody. It looks good, isn’t as expensive as the TSC version, and only has one feature I don’t want. I guess I’ll just try to keep his hat on.

Out of all the Toy Story Collection characters announced an released so far, I only want RC, Rex, and the Bucket O Soldiers, in that order.

What really GRINDS MY GEARS is that i am a collector and i research months and months on a toy like the TS Collection, i study the flaws, and figure out which to buy and which not to buy and learn how to find limited TSC or a rare one THEN out of no where someone who knows nothing about TSC goes to TRUS or Target and buys something i have been searching for months and they get the last one for their kids who probably dont even know what TSC is … :frowning:

The one thing that would keep me from even considering that Woody is his hat. they put the 2 holes (for safety) in the worst possible place, right on top, plainly visible. that combined with the lack of stitching around the brim makes it a definite pass for me. n guess I’d rather over pay for quality than tolerate those glaring flaws.

Does anyone know if they sell the regular Buzz in stores? Cause at TRU, they loads of Buzz’s, but all have utility belts. Just wondering

Yes, they still stock Classic Buzz. I’ve seen that happen too, they have many of Utility Belt, but don’t have the original. They should get more in. I was at my local TRU yesterday, and they had about 15 of Utility Buzz in the Display section, and about 4 or 5 of the original on the regular shelves. Be patient, and they should start poping up soon.

Last weekend my TRU looked like the Buzz Lightyear aisle in Al’s Toy Barn they had SO many.

Exactly. The shops need to seriously stop ordering so many of Buzz. Every time I walk through Target or TRU there is at least 3-5 times more of the Buzz equivilent of everything. TSC, Basic Mattel figures… it’s almost like they assume that kids all like Buzz better than anyone else to the point that they order so much more of him.

They need to stock on Rexs. Havent seen TSC Rex yet.

I do remember seeing Rex at a Toys R Us once but never again.

Fact is, Buzz is the most popular, its their best selling Toy Story character. and with the TSC, he’s easily the best bang for your buck. I can see why they order as many as they do.

I think they should stock less of the irrelevant nonsense. You know the type of toys Im talking about.

Anyone else think woody’s TSC mouth looks just TERRIBLE?? hahaha i splurged and got him (despite him being overpriced and poorly made), as i figured he’ll only increase in price as time goes on.

But seriously, i don’t understand why pixar wouldn’t let them use their closed mouth prototype. It looked pretty good.

How is it terrible? Its not accurate to his toy mode, but it is on model. My only gripe is that the inside isn’t painted.

idk haha just doesn’t look like his mouth at all. It’s way small, the corners of his mouth are sunken into his face giving him dimples that he doesn’t really have, and it just doesn’t look right.

Can’t tell you how much cooler i feel now after criticizing a little kid toy lol

Pixar Wikia says that Wave 3 has been Confirmed to be in production :exclamation:

It is unknown which characters it will include, however it will probably include Hamm, Slinky Dog, Mrs. Potato Head, some more toys from Sunnyside Daycare, and some of Bonnie’s toys. Some also think that it will include Stinky Pete, Zurg, Wheezy, and Bo Peep. Yay!!

I have a hat from an old Woody that’s in good condition, and it doesn’t have any holes. It doesn’t have the stitching either, but that’s better than no stitching and two holes. I’m optimistic that it will fit Playtime Sheriff Woody’s head.

This is a link to the Woody I already have with the hat.
