Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

It’s for balance reasons.

the asnwer you seek, from the makers themselves.

Oh cool, a COA for Slink?

I don’t get what they mean about relocating the string. I mean it would make mroe sense for it to be moved to the modern Slinky’s head, since he’s more unproportional, but the old Slinky didn’t seen to have any problems keeping his head up.

I believe the reason why is because little kids could wrap the string around their neck and they could choke. As cruel as that sounds, it’s probably true.

Well, they explained that that’s why they shortened it.

They explained both. The leash was shortened because it was a strangling hazard, and it was moved to the head because it kept falling over when it was on his chest. See, his head makes the front top heavy and lopsided. falls over easily. It needed to be pulled from the head to avoid falling over. This can be addressed by making the chest solid and the head hollow, which is what Tyler says he’s doing with his, but would add to the production cost if the real company were to do so.

I wonder why they made his head top heavy in the first place… It’d make more sense to make his front and back heavier.

That’s the thing about toy companies. They sometimes forget to consider what the target consumer wants. This is an extreme issue with Thinkway Toys, in my eyes. :unamused:

its just where the weight naturally goes. his head hangs over his chest, and the slinky itself doesnt outweight it, so its naturally going to be unstable. making his chest and back heavier is exactly what would need to be done, but like I said that would add more to the cost on their end. more weight means more materials. this is why I doubt we’ll ever see a proper slinky dog officially.

while we’re talking about sense though, a real slinky dog based on the one from toy story doesnt even need a string, its more accurate to the character on screen without one. so they could make it more accurate if they simply omitted the string altogether. but Im sure some people will complain that a pull string toy doesn’t even have a string. it could be able to stand up though, and not have a hole. you still wouldnt be able to stretch it and have him still standing though, which again is where being heavier would come in handy. so you can stretch him out like Andy does in the first movie’s opening sequence. ever try that with the slink out now? you can’t.

I guess that makes sense. Plus, Woody’s hat looks abit… Odd, is it just the pics thinkway does or is it just like that? I’m not sure if it looks better when you see it with your own eyes.

If woody’s hat ever looks odd its because its pressed down too far. a lot of people, like myself put something under his hat to make sure it sits higher on his head. the character in the movie has the hat kinda floating a tiny bit, so its not really Thinkway’s fault. I like to use moldable eraser. it helps keep his hat up high and in place so it doesn’t slide around.

I don’t see why people just stick it all the way down. Sure it’ll stay in place, but Woody just looks goofy now.

I usually tilt Woody’s hat to the side a little bit. It still is up high a bit and it looks like how Woody wears it in the movies. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed him wearing his hat straight.

I just wanted to ask, does Woody look fine to you? He looks a little off to me, but I might just be seeing things

Looks fine to me, btw your Buzz looks nice! How’d you remove his helmet?

The process is actually not that hard, though it can be intimidating.
First, turn Buzz off. Then, pull off his wing pack. This allows you to screw off the 4 screws on his back easier. (I’m talking about the ones on each corner of his back that are deep down)

Removing the 4 screws causes Buzz to get split in half. His arms and legs will prob fall off. (Like my pics) but dont worry, they easily attach back.

You should now be able to easily pull off his front helmet and his back helmet. (The back helmet is sort of hard, however)

Now reallign your Buzz pieces together, and screw him back together. As long as you didnt mess around with the wires inside him, he should still work completely!

Thanks, I’m assuming it’s a complete different process with a 1995/Room guard Buzz, right? Because he doesn’t have the wings that fold in.

Been meaning to do this for a while.

Wow… It looks like it was printed by Thinkway! Great job Kyle!

If you decide to remove his helmet, how do his helmet electronics work? If you put them back on afterward, will they work like they did in the first place?
