Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

Thanks for the advice, but I was hoping for a response from someone who had actually tried it themselves.

yeah im going on what people said earlier in the thread someone said there vest was getting smudgy from coloring it and i think kyle said for the vest breaking loose you have to sew it back on.

I have done it with my very own sheriff, and I will back-up YouAreAToy’s thoughts. The stitching is apparently just temporary to keep his vest looking good in the box, because everyone’s Woody’s vest comes undone.

I just took some white thread and a needle, and carefully stitched the vest to his shirt. That was months ago and I have had zero trouble with it since then. It is a very simple job for someone who knows their way around a needle, but you just need to do the front, in between his buttons. The neck and the bottom of the vest will be fine, and you’ll still be able to tuck in the flap for the batteries without any issues.

As for the coloring of the black areas, I personally never had a big issue with it in the first place, so I didn’t bother with it for fears that I would wind up messing him up. But do NOT use sharpie markers if you want to try it. Like Kyle said way back, it’s very low grade ink. Perfect for paper, terrible on fabric. I have never used sharpie on fabric and had it end well. It bleeds everywhere, and turns a blue/purple color, and winds up on everything. You would wind up having blue-ish smears on his hands/sleeves and the pull string.

For anyone interested in colorig the stitching, go to your craft store (Joann’s in my case) and pick up a black fabric ink pen. Mine did not come in a box, just off a little display rack. They run about $1.20-$2, something like that. They cling to fabric and don’t run or bleed after they’ve fully dried which only takes about 15 mins. If you really want to try, I would HIGHLY advise kicking in a few bucks for one of those. OH, and of course the 1" pull string ring if you haven’t done it yet. Same store, plastic rings for windows. Very easy to swap, and makes a huge difference.

Love looking at all the pics (& hate u for having them all  ) Does anyone in the UK know anywhere I can get the aliens, either online or instore? I can find everyone else from the collection but not them and I keep getting destroyed on eBay whenever I bid.

Welcome, Mark24! My aliens came from Toys R Us, plus shipping online if you order. I feel that is your best guess.

However, this is from the US site, so I’m sorry if I didn’t help a lot.

So I just tried to fix Woody’s arms, so they are sewn on streight out, so that his arms have more/better movement. Not the best idea. Turns out there is a lot more stuff in there than I had expected, and the excess is trimmed off anyway, so i’d just make his arms much shorter, and the left on mine is too short as it is already.

On the plus, I fixed his collar so that it rests OUTSIDE of his vest now, but I have to re-stitch his vest on. Again…

Just got my woody tsc toy yesterday!!! so now i have Woody and bucket o soldiers and im gonna see if i can get a black friday deal on rc if not im going to pick up buzz saturday will try to post pics soon cause i noticed my woodys vest the spots that u guys colored in are already colored in on mines not complaining just wondering if thinkway toys fixed it.

and … after seeing this pic,i realize …if thinkway use this facial expresion to their TSC woody and buzz, with minor change…check it out

^I could totally see that, nice find.

Now, this was overall a bad week for me when it comes to Toy Story. Seeing a really nice Toy Story Collection Buzz at Toys R Us, I bought it for the average $50 (they ain’t getting cheaper), only to have a pristine box crushed in an electric door. Other than that, it was an okay figure QC-wise (paint was excellent, but there’s still little dings and scratches everywhere). But still, seeing it first-hand is really amazing.

I also ordered the Thinkway Karate Action Buzz online. They gave me the 4" action figure. Now I’m going to have to go through a lot of trouble just to send it back. And I don’t even know if they’ll give me the right one at that point or just give my money back.

How did that happen? That sucks though. If I were you, i’d get really pissed with where you ordered that Karate Buzz and make them just send me the right thing. “It’s not my fault that YOU sent me the wrong order”, Because if you have to pay to ship it back to them, it’s not really fair for you to pay for their mistake.

Thanks for the tip. And as for the explanation, I was walking through an electric door, because I had a lot of stuff, bags, food, a drink. Then it just closes right after I walk through, but still snags the bag with Buzz in it. It didn’t crush it too bad, but I’d still rather that didn’t happen.

Great… :unamused: That sounds like just the luck I would have. At least it’s not too bad, but it still sucks that the bag that got snached up was the one with Buzz in it.

I just received my Bullseye and Jessie for my birthday! Yes! However, their faces seem off, but I just can’t put my finger on why. Can someone please explain my thinking?

One thing I noticed is that the Buzz Lightyear box didn’t mention Zurg being sold seperately. Then again, they might not’ve had many plans for the line back in Wave 1.

And they still may not for all we know.

I’m asking for a recommendation. For Christmas, my aunt is offering to get me a present of my choice. So, I’m contemplating between the TSC Lotso and the TSC RC for my collection. Which one would you guys recommend?

rc he has more features out of all the collection im gonna skip lotso and belted buzz they seem useless to me i will only get them to complete my collection but they are not really ones i am dying for.

I like RC more than Lotso, but Lotso is very important in TS3. I recommend RC

While both are cool, I definitely recommend getting RC. He is definitely more with his price than Lotso. Plus, if you are nostalgic and the first movie is your favorite, you definitely want to be closer to completing Andy’s collection. But definitely, if the money is going to be spent, definitely RC rather than Lotso.

So I feel like going mroe in-depth with Buzz now that I actually own him. The sculpt was truly perfect, and they got things like the fingers and decals right. The face looked really good, but it still wasn’t the toy we saw in the movie. Don’t get me wrong, it really embodies Andy’s Buzz. The poseability was good, but the arms seemed to be the only issue with that. With hinging AND pivoting joints everywhere needed. The shoulder articulation should be a ball and socket joint (I might draw up a diagram of it). The upper half of Buzz’s body should also be able to pivot at the waist.
One of the final notable nitpicks is the wrong laser sound effect is used. And that brings us to the last major issue; the wings. Again, these were done really well on this figure, probably the best on a Buzz Lightyear figure, but there’s still ways that it could be improved. The length actually isn’t that bad, seeing as how they trimmed it down to a more realistic length in Toy Story 3. where it can be improved, however, is in the second segment, which looks like it could be and should be longer. In addition, everything should be really skinny to slim down Buzz’s backback. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it looks like wings themselves could be a little shorter height-wise. For a better fit, the light part could be smaller.
The karate chop action and retracting helmet are all possible on their own, but it looks like it’ll take some time to implament it with everything else. Most other issues are just related to manufacturer’s choices, and safety issue, and not that difficult to make.

Now, playing Toy Story: Animated Storybook, I’ve got a listing of Buzz’s phrases. Not in order, but still there. For the most part, it all lines up with what was presented in the movie (does anyone know what button Bonnie presses to make him say “to infinity and beyond?”)

Blue Button:
Activate glider wings!
Do you glow in the dark?
All in a day’s work for Buzz Lightyear.
Danger, young friend.

Green Button:
Buzz Lightyear is here to protect you.
Look out, space ranger, the One-Eyed Horse of Goth! Agh!
Look out, space ranger! Evil Zurg at four o’clock!
Let justice triumph and evil beware!

Red Button:
Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!
It’s a secret mission, in uncharted space. Let’s go.
To infinity and beyond!
Time for adventure, time for excitement; time for Buzz Lightyear.
