I am not a fan of the TS3 chatter phone, but would like to eventually get the new on in vintage style box when I have money. (in the middle of starting a new career so money is tight)

What? Your Potato Head? If it’s because you have doubts about him, just do it. It cost you a mere $15, he looks a LOT better in person once you get him out of the box, and the popping feature is awesome. 
The only thing is he takes FOREVER to open.
abaci: As far as the new one goes, I’m not a fan either. The TS3 stickers everywhere make it difficult to use as a movie replica, but for under 10 bucks it’s a good toy for the kids. Plus now I don’t have to worry about them taking my 1960’s Chatter Phone off my shelf.
As for the “new” classic phone, it’s made of 100% plastic, there’s no wood base. The wheels are not the same and there are several other problems. If you’re looking for something like the one in the movie, then this ain’t it. This is not even a cheap copy of the original. It’s something new in an old style box.
I’m wonder if Buzz’ head is somewhat off scale, it looks big for some reason to me…
I opened it up and it did take forever to open, but at least they packed it good. I was not motivated because I had the flu yesterday. First time throwing up in 12-15 years.
I dont’ have any kids yet so no need to buy them a toy. I never thoughto f that for the very vintage ones being wood, ect. I know I have seen some on ebay from '85 and those are listed as having plastic base and wheels. I would assume the one in the movie is from the '80s but I have not tried to compare pictures so I guess it could be older. I was born in '85 and so I would assume the new one in vintage box would be pretty close to the one I had when I was little. If I got the new one in the vintage packaging there is a good chance I would just leave it in the box.

Sources say was manufactured between 1967 and 1985. Though one of Fisher-Price’s iconic toys, this guy seems a bit scarce, especially after being produced for so long.

If you don’t have prime or another way of free shipping then no. You have to spend $25 for free shipping, so I just bought 2. Shipping would have been $7 so for a little more then double I got a 2nd potato head
