Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

Looks nice. Hope they remember to include his “Angry Eyes”.

It will include angry eyes, fortunately.

Does anybody know if they will make a Toy Story Collection “Zurg”?

I think they should. If I’m not mistaken, Thinkway said that Zurg will be in Wave 2 of the TSC along with Jessie, Bullseye, Hamm, and more.

Our local Toys R Us has the first regular edition Mr Potato Heads in stock. They have two sets of eyes although, not the angry eyes. It has one set of the teeth, not the smile as seen in the screen play. The back does open up for storage.

Given the lack of parts and it not showing the facial pieces that are more iconic, I will definitely wait until the collection edition comes out.

There’s a prop maker I know of on another forum that is planning on fixing the problems of the collection potatohead by making separate eyes and plugging the original hole seamlessly. Whats more is he thinks he can the make the brows separate as well and have them attach via magnets. He seems like a real pro, and might start selling conversion kits. I don’t think he plans to make many though. of course, he cant really start til they finally release it. Think about how cool it would be to be one of the few who owned a proper Toy Story Mr. potatohead.

Found a way to keep Buzz’s stickers down:

Invisible tape.

It works so well for me, you can’t really notice without looking real close.

Link please?

Also, keep an eye out, we might be collaborating on something else toy story related in the future.

One thing I’m wondering about the new Mr. Potato Head is if he’s still made by Playskool, or if he’s going to be specifically from Thinkway Toys (from the look of the box in John Lasseter’s videos it seems like the Playskool logo is still there). I guess for me the toys I would need to be movie accurate the most in the collection are of the characters created by Pixar for the original film: Woody, Buzz, the aliens, and Rex. Mr. Potato Head, of course, was actually a licensed character that was used in the film. So if you’re going for looks the new Mr. Potato Head would be closest with the film, but since Playskool actually makes the toys then I guess the ones their making would still be considered the real thing.

I did buy Playskool’s Mr. Potato Head (which is still designed after the Toy Story character anyway) just in case I don’t come across the new one, but if I do then I’m sure I’ll get that one as well:

Sorry I didn’t reply to the earlier posts on Hamm. We’ve had a bit of an ice storm problem here and have been out of power since Thursday afternoon, but the electricity is finally on again and we’re back at home!!!

Anyway, about Hamm, the old one was waaaaaay too small. I’ve seen it sold online before, but never bought it. Recently the Disney Store released one that I did go ahead and buy because it wasn’t too expensive. It’s the exact same proportions as that old one: About 4" tall and just over 6" long. He does come with a working (but not real) cork. He’s actually a beautifully done figure, but nowhere near the right scale. Next to my Toy Story Collection figures he looks just plain silly. Still hoping they release one for the Definitive Colleciton.

From what I’ve heard, that original one didn’t sell very well, but I think it had more to do with him being so tiny. A full scale version sold along with the other Collection figures would probably do much better especially with collectors that have been waiting since the first movie came out for an accurate Hamm figure.

I wonder if something like that would prevent them from releasing one though. I mean, take our main characters, the crappy versions of them probably flew off shelves, which eventually led to better versions. If the bad versions of Hamm didn’t sell, maybe they’re not convinced a full scale version would be worth the investment.

Sure you could argue why they didnt want the smaller version or why they would want a full scale one, but until the numbers say for sure the fans (casual and hardcore alike) would buy one maybe they dont want to risk it.

Has this been seen already?

WHOA! That’s really cool (in a bizarre kind of way- he’s kind of weird when he moves). Is it just me or are his parts a lot more loose on him than in the film? I love how his posts are blue this time and it’s cool how you can “scare” his parts off! I’m also very glad that even though the eyes are unfortunately combined, they each have their own separate pegs so the Mr. Potato Head has two eye sockets. Definitely want this.

anyone else notice the two eye holes?

Whoah, the best part about this to me is that despite having fused together eyes, he still has two holes! meaning we wouldn’t need to patch or drill any extra holes to add proper eyes. Anyone that wanted to make their own separated eyes could easily do so without damaging it.

One thing I’m not a fan of that I didn’t realise til this video is the side to side swaying motion, that means there’s going to be a side ways slot in his crotch doesn’t it (I could make so many jokes here but I’m not)?

Also, does this mean you in fact cannot push him down all the way? seeing his legs like that looks beyond weird. I think we did see him pressed down in John’s videos, but maybe it wasn’t a final prototype? I’m hoping pressing him down is a function, maybe its even how you turn it off and on to change modes.

i know what u mean it does look really wierd with his legs like that, hopefully u can push them down

It does irk me a bit that those blue legs are more and more noticeable (cause in my mind Mr. Potato Head should not have legs), but I guess that’s the only way he’s able to move around like that. I do like the way that he moves around and that you can scream off all his parts. The voice is great, except that “Watch it, buddy!” sounds nothing like him. It also looks like Playskool and Thinkway are both making the toy together. Really cool toy, but I guess an electronic Mr. Potato Head will still take some getting used to.

OMG… I can not wait for Mr. Potato Head to come out!

No worries. First off, notice how when the toys on commercials come to stores, they’re NEVER 100% like the one in the commercials. Second we’ve already seen images of Mr.Potato Head with his legs pushed in all the way. Besides, there are some feint moments we saw him have legs on some moments in the movies. I know he’s going to be AWESOME and sorry if i sound like I’m defending him, I’m just mega stoked to find him in stores!
