I think that’s kind of the point of his character in the film, though. Mr. Potato Head was a toy for very little kids as well, but thanks to his character in Toy Story even adults think he’s cool.
One question I do have is this: is the Lotso toy going to speak to kids in Ned Beatty’s voice?
You’re right now that I see it. There’s no way (within the film) a purple teddy bear could be marketed towards anyone older than 5, haha.
I believe Lotso TSC will be voiced by Ned Beatty or at least a Ned Beatty soundalike. I mean all of the other Toy Story Collection Toys: Mr Potato Head and Buzz Lightyear are voiced by their respective voice actors (with the exception of Woody by Jim Hanks).
Bullseye looks incredible. If they don’t end up releasing a Zurg or Twitch, I’ll probably end up buying him. Does anyone have any information of the cost of him?
I was wondering the same thing, as weve already seen a picture of him last year i really cant see why they wouldnt give us the correct size Hamm we all want seen as the other main characters have pretty much been made already. i know Slinky is not great but atleast he seems inscale to what he is in the films
Add the fact that my 4 year old constantly bugs me about needing a Big Hamm im getting desperate !!!
Thinkway actually did have a Hamm bank when the original film came out, which looks pretty accurate and about the right size. Only problem is, you wouldn’t be able to find this one now unless they make a new one for the collection.
Probably, but I guess it looks big from the picture. I read that it’s supposed to be about 8 inches. If it really is as small as the one in the other post, then I’m just gonna wait until they make a newer one.
Anyone notice how the TSC Woody box in the new pics from Toy Fair is slightly different, because the drawing of Woody on the box has his elbow going over the nameplate? This isn’t a new change, I actually saw this version for sale a couple of months ago, I wonder why they made that change…
Old Version (with elbow under nameplate):
New Version (with elbow over nameplate, slightly different nameplate shape, and it also says “Deluxe Film Replica” on it, which is something the old box didn’t have):
Hmm, I guess their to up the appeal with these minor changes. They probably figure the “replica” mention will make it more attractive to the collector. and showing more of Woody might make it stand out more on shelves.
Though personally I’m not a fan of the change. while its true we havent seen his box before in the movie, we do know that stinky Pete didn’t appear on his box. and while I’m okay with having woody on his, he now overpowers the name plate. the old way had less of Woody, making it closer to Stinky Pete’s on screen box.
Also, I wonder why if their going to change it, why they didn’t replace the old STC logo to the white one they now have. or maybe they’ll re issue the design yet again.
Edit: anyay, if anyone finds another good gallery of Thinkway’s booth or something from the toy fair, let us know. Im dying to get a better look at jessie, bullseye and Mr.p. I mainly want to see Jessie from a more head on angle. trying to figure out how much she’s changed from the prototype, if any.
I think they have changed her face sculpt, but cant be certain. it looks less square. still looking chubby around the waist though.
Anyway… I think RC has to be my favorite in this series so far. It just feels right – followed by Buzz. I bought RC for my son for Christmas, and then started collecting the others for myself.
I’m saving now to get RC for my collection.
Any idea about availability of these toys? They don’t appear to be limited edition, but it was TOUGH to find Rex other than ordering him online. Now RC is starting to show as sold out most places – and some places no longer list him at all anymore.
Looking at the Prospector’s box in Toy Story 2 I noticed a couple other differences from the ones for Woody and the others:
The lasso window in front now goes over the top of the box (though it’s probably smaller in the film because of his size), and the cactus is larger and always on the left side of the box instead of the right. I also think they’re going to add an illustration of Stinky Pete on the front since they did for the others, so I’m hoping they use that silly design of him on the back of the box.
If they do add the Prospector to the collection it’ll be a good excuse to leave him in the box, even for those who don’t care that much about keeping toys in mint condition.
