Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

^Wow! Awesome deal on Mr. P! Man, I really have to start furthering my small TS collection…

As a way to pay back for the TRU coupon, I went to the Disney Store today and they gave me a coupon that’s good in store and online.

your welcome. i still have yet to use mine.

thanks for the dinsey store one.

Since getting my Toy Story Collection Woody in late 2009 (I think) I’ve made some improvements I thought I’d share here. Some of these are changes only a real Toy Story nerd (like myself) would notice or care about.

The first thing I did was replace the buttons on his sleeves and shirt. Compared to the movie, the buttons the TSC woody comes with are too small and not nearly flat enough. I took buttons from a regular talking Woody that looked much more accurate and put them on the TSC one as seen bellow. I also used the vest from the regular talking Woody. It fits much more accurately, leaving some space between the vest and his pants, while not covering up too much of his chest. I did however cut the badge off the TSC vest and stick it on this one.

As seen bellow, the smaller vest is able to tuck under the back of his collar like in the films. I cut the thread holding his collar in the front to the body and put the collar over the vest (as seen in the first and second pictures). This is how it is in the films. As you can see, I also replaced the pull string loop with a much smaller one I found at Michael’s crafts based on info someone posted here a few years ago (I forget who exactly).

Here’s a comparison showing the regular talking wooding with the former TSC Woody’s buttons and vest next to the TSC Woody with the talking Woody’s former vest and buttons (Sounds confusing!).

“And yet… still a good lookin’ guy!”

Very impressive modifications!

Thinkway need to hire you as a consultant for future Toy Story releases (if any).

intruiging.

Great work! That’s an awesome attention to detail.

Very nice. One thing I wish they’d get to is giving Woody a badge as shiny as it was in the movie. While metallic parts aren’t used anymore, it’s still possible to achieve the look through a good paint job. So far, I think the Christmas Woody came closest (but could still be more gold-tinted).

Enjoy.

Woody’s RoundUp Gang Toy Story by ToyStoryFan1, on Flickr

Did you decide to keep your collection Toystory21?

Great photo of the Round Up gang Toystory21. If only that prospector was slightly easier to get! This means you rethought outgrowing your collection I assume? ;-p

I sold almost half of my collection only kept the main characters for obvious reasons not being able to make any profit out of them. I did buy Stinky Pete only because I always wanted it and had the fund and the opportunity to buy him relatively cheap. When I get a chance I’ll take another photo of my collection as it stands now. I won’t be adding any new toys. I’m still selling some on eBay like Ken and Barbie, and a few of Andy’s toys.

hey- all the toy story collection is 40.00 at TRU.

Here’s a small update I made to my Toy Story Collection Woody.

If you look in the last pictures I posed further up the page, you can see I managed to get woody’s vest to fit under his collar like in the films. I was not able to get his collar to stand up and fold over like does in the films (rather impossibly). Thinkway tries to solve this issue by sewing the bottom of the collar to his shirt making if fold over, the problem is, they do not put his vest under the collar. i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo17 … G_0573.jpg this is how he comes from the factory. It looks alright, but is inaccurate.

When I managed to position the vest under the collar, I had to cut the threads holding the collar to the shirt and couldn’t figure out how to make the collar fold over again. Since the ends of the collar now sat over the vest, I did not want to superglue them to the vest, because then I would never be able to remove it. I ended up folding the collar over, and super gluing the actual fold so the fabric hardened in that shape. Now the collar is folded and the vest is still removable.

Here’s the finished product.

I think that’s as close as the collar is going to get!

It’s a lot of effort to put into such a minute detail, but I’m just insane like that. :unamused:

After seeing your Woody I feel like doing the same modification to mine… It may be a small detail but in my opinion it makes him look so much better.

I’d like to try that thing with the collar, but I’d be terrified of messing with superglue. I’ve ruined a number of things with that stuff.

I’d surprised after all that modifying you still haven’t done anything to blackin the inside of his mouth.

Just for kicks, I Photoshopped it.

It looks interesting, but I’m not sure I’d commit to painting it.

Just do what I did, go with a temp solution like putting a C shaped piece of black paper (glossy works best) in his mouth. If you cut it just right it should stay in place as long as you don’t handle it too much. It wont looks as good as paint but its better than nothing and there’s no risk.

Heh, never even thought of that, thanks.

that is a good idea.
