I should probably have said more how happy I am to see that there is an accurate Hamm somewhere, but I just wish it didn’t sound like it would be so hard to find. The older one I posted from 1995 is also referred to as rare (understandable cause of when it was made) but I guess wasn’t the right scale. I really hope there’s a chance that some more Hamms like this one will be out around the time Toy Story 3 is released, but unfortunately this one seems to be a Disney Store exclusive. I can understand the lack people have of wanting to make a real version of him since he’s not really a toy and more for display, but since Hamm is one of the film’s popular characters and a main part of the cast someone was expected to do it eventually.
BTW, I checked Disney’s store website and couldn’t find anything on him.
Maybe if these ones sell well (assuming they become easier to find as the TS3 movie draws nearer), Thinkway will rethink their decision to not release one for their collection.
By the way, my sister just informed me they had four of them at the Grapevine Mills Disney Store (Grapevine, TX - just north of Dallas). She got me one, so they should still have three left. I don’t know if they ship products directly from the stores or only from Disney.com, but it might be worth given them a call.
Sorry, that actually is the one I have. I have had him for so long, that I forget which versions were available, in fact I didn’t know until just now that only the first ones released were poseable. I think I had used the coathanger just to better support his legs because they had a tendency to either buckle when I tried to stand him, or they overextended forward…but he is poseable. I mainly had him leaning on the Bullseye from Mattel (I think) that I had painted a darker color.
The hanger thing is pretty ghetto…here is a picture…but his back was always to the wall, and it served the purpose of keeping him upright.
Hey guys I checked a Disney Store here in Oklahoma for Ham and the lady told me they had them but couldn’t sell them until later this month when a new display is put up.
Wow, that works out perfectly, I would’ve never suspected that from the front.
Bendy Woody is also very scarce nowadays, some dude wanted around $75 for a beat-up one out of box. I also never noticed he had spurs. They left that out on the second edition for some reason, and just put holes there instead.
Probably not a part of the original line. I also have a Woody from around Toy Story 2, who is as far as I can tell identical, except for spurs, which are a little bulkier than the ones wampar’s has. I really have no idea why they’d do this.
I know what you mean. I have both Toy story 1 and 2 versions. on th toy stroy 2 one they over stuffed him, changed the spurs, and gave hime a crappier badge. the 95 ones alot better.
Tried out the new toy story 3 chatter phone that was released in the disney store. He has quotes from woody, buzz, rex and himself when you spin the dial. From his own lines, it sounds like he is not evil but actually more of a veteran of the daycare who knows everything about how it functions.
I didn’t know they were making a new Chatter Telephone for Toy Story 3. I just bought a regular vintage kind that was out from Fisher-Price cause I didn’t even think they were going to, but it’s the same classic design as the one in the film so it probably doesn’t make a difference which one you have in this case.
Flik-E, I was thinking about doing the same. I have been watching some old Chatter Telephones on eBay (complete with batterings for authenticity!). I have noticed that Pixar have added more expressive eyebrows to Chatter for Toy Story 3 compared to the original toy though. I may hold out for a TS3 version now.
Also I just wanted to vent some frustration that is building due to the fact that Rex is impossible to find in the UK right now…
I went to the Disney Store on Oxford Street in December and they had two shelves worth of Rex (about 6 toys). Unfortunately due to the pretty steep £50 price tag I left him… big mistake! He sold out a few weeks before Xmas and they have had none in since. What are they playing at?
Then to make matters worse I found a bargain Rex on eBay (£36) a month ago. Snapped him up with Buy It Now…he has got lost in the post… What a nightmare!
You guys in the USA who think it’s bad that you can’t source a Mr Potato Head or a scale Hamm should spare a thought for us Toy Story fans over here! Hoping all of the other Toy Story Collection Characters will come back into stock in June or July. (Also I can’t believe we have to wait for a whole month after the US cinema release to see TS3!)

Just to let you that Rex is available at TRU in store and online. Got mine today, cost £60 though. I made the same mistake as you by thinking I could pick him up anytime. The box has the new collection logo in white.
Thanks Claw, as much as I really want to get hold of him, I refuse to pay the inflated Toys R Us price - £50 is already a stretch for a toy!
So far I’ve been really lucky with my collection taking advantage of Amazon discounts (Buzz for £30ish plus they gave me some money back for his scratched helmet and RC for £40-something as well as Woody for Xmas). Did pay full price for Slinky, soliders and Aliens though…
The fact that Toys R Us have him in now make me hopeful that the Disney Store stocks will soon be replenished. Was there any sign of the TS3 merchandise there?
Not so far. Had a new Jessie figure that looks great. It’s not the tsc version though. Given a better hat and a few adjustments it’s the base model for the tsc version I should think.
If this is the same line of figures as the other ones Kmart had listed, then I’m afraid the Trixie listed will be the same size. What I don’t get is why the description says larger than life and made to scale when they clearly look like they are the size of the action figures already out now. But anyways, back to my main point.
On the side of the box, it says “Adult Collector”, telling anyone who looks at this product that it’s not meant for kids. Seeing this marketing move, it poses the question of what if Thinkway had done something similar, like made it more obvious to the everyday person that the Collection series is meant for an older, more collector based audience? It may have solved our problem with all of the inaccuracies due to safety concerns and what not. I understand that it may have hurt sales too, as less people outside of the collectors market would purchase them, but at least we could have the definitive replicas we all have been wanting.
One last side note, I was at my Target yesterday and almost all of the Toy Story merchandise was on clearance, save for the Collection stuff, so hopefully this means we’ll see TS3 stuff within the next few weeks.
Yeah there is a TS3 chatter phone at disney store. He isnt movie accurate i suppose because he has pictures of buzz, woody, rex and himself on the dial but he does say lines from the movie which helped me to understand what kind of role he will be playing.
This is actually from a new line of “adult collector” toys from Mattel. They are part of the Pixar Collection and seem to be the same size as the regular action figures. They actually look pretty cool. There will be a San Diego Comic Con exclusive version of Lotso that will be flocked and strawberry scented. It will be available on Mattycollector.com after the convention for $20. The rest will be available at retail I guess. Here is a video of the Comic Con reveals on G4. Lotso is about half way through. g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/exclusi … -Toys.html
You can get an idea of how big they will be.
I decided to take off Potato head’s legs today. I removed the five screws on his back with ease. The legs are attached with a single screw in the middle of his back once he is opened. This screw wouldn’t budge. In fact, while trying to remove it I accidentally stripped the head of the screw out, be very careful while uncrewing his back if that is what you choose to do, because the screws can strip fairly easily.
Update: fixed the problem, now have a legless Potato. Time to figure out how to shorten and reattach them. But he looks great with no legs!
