I actually just did, and I might give it a shot, but just now in trying to reopen him again, one of the outside screws toward the top of his head is also now stripped. It is in such a narrow passage that I am not sure I will be able to get a screw extractor to it. But I am off to the Home Depot to get the tools to give it a shot.
I just bought the TSC Mr. Potato Head at a Toys R Us in Long Island, NY. I think he is great!! I think it is annoying how you can’t fit peices from other Mr. Potato Heads in him But still, he is amazing and I love all of his features, including the part-popping one. I also went to the Disney Store and saw the Hamm figure you guys were talking about, but I didn’t buy him.
I live in NY, what Disney store are you talking about? Is it near the long island?
I probably can’t get it, I’m in the Bronx
Also why didn’t you buy Hamm, he so cute
and congrats on potato head, Hes my favorite in the collection so far
How many more weeks is Mr. Potato Head available everywhere. I want to get him soon.
I am talking about the Disney Store at Roosevelt Field Mall, and I got the Mr. Potato Head at a Toys R Us in Carle Place. The reason I didn’t buy Hamm was because they only had one out on the shelf, and it wasn’t in very good condition due to all these people touching him
I think Potato Head is one of my faves now too haha
i have a question based on the third pic down, is the eye peg on the angry eyes behind the right eye?
LOL I love those pictures
Glad to see you made a comparison on these two. I still think the regular Mr. Potato Head is more accurate as a toy, but that TSC Potato Head is more accurate in design. If the regular one had the red lips, smaller eyebrows, and separated feet I’m sure it would have already looked just like the film.
Just being curious, what does the TSC Mr Potato Head’s bottom of the shoe look like? Are they hollow cups with secure pegs like the film’s?
Actually its not just the feet, eyebrows, and lips
the TSC also has a darker body, a more accurate noise (thinner), different design on its feet, bigger and more detailed ears, and more accurate eyes
It still a fun toy too, but not as fun as the original potato head cause hes more sensitive
Yeah, I’m acutally hard pressed to find a single thing they did get right about the old one’s design. Maybe the hat? Everything else, way off. From the mustache to the elbows they got it all wrong. he’s probably the most inaccurate official toy from these movies I can think of.
Anyway, tomorrow (today on the east coast, Sunday) I’m going to try and A, find Mr. Potatohead and B, order myself a Hamm from the Disney store. Fingers crossed…

Well you have to remember, that wasn’t entirely Hasbro’s/ Playskool’s fault. Sure the design was awful and barely resembled the film’s but that’s because Pixar completely changed the design of their Mr. Potato Head toy for the movie. When the promotional toys came out, it was much easier for the company just to re-release the same Mr. P simply under a Toy Story logo. In fact, if you look at the history of the spud, you’ll see that all of the parts (save the eyes) come from pre-existing Mr. Potato Head sets. But once the Toy Story collection toys came out and became very successful, Playskool probably jumped the bandwagon too which is why they changed the horrible design to a more Toy Story-esque one.
I just hope that James Industries follows suit.
Yeah don’t get me wrong: I’m as happy as everyone else that they’ve gotten down every detail of the film for the TSC Potato Head, but it’s only because of all the electronic stuff built into him that he feels more awkward than feeling like the same kind of toy. That’s probably an advantage that Hasbro’s regular toy has.
Why shouldn’t I blame Hasbro? They shouldn’t have tried to shoe horn the new design onto their existing potato head in the first place. Sure, Pixar changed it, but think of all the other toys that had to be built from scratch. They gave Pixar permission to take artistic liberties, they should have been willing to address the design changes they made with their toy story branded ones.
I normally would chalk this up to something kids might not care about, only more detail oriented adults, after all, the Buzz and Woody we had seemed okay to most kids I think back then, save for the stubby wings on buzz, but I saw Mr.p in the Disney store and thought “…is this even the same character”.
I guess the only way I can forgive it is that they probably didnt anticipate how big this franchise was going to be. But by the time TS2 came out it should have been obvious enough to do new sculpts to look like Pixar’s design.
If anybody is having a hard time finding the TSC Mr Potato Head, I have two that I’m willing to sell for $55+shipping each. Send me a PM if you’re interested.

Nope. The bottom of his foot has a flat plastic plate with a couple of strips of a gripping type of material, I am assuming to help him stand. The bottoms of his feet each have two screws holding them on, when they are removed you can then unscrew one more screw inside of the foot itself which attaches it to the legs.
Holy crap - Call me crazy, but I just realized I like Potato Head better WITH legs… 0_o
Anyway, Don’t get mad because I’m sure this question has already been asked somewhere down the road, but is it possible to seperate Potato Head’s eyes, and what would it look like? (pictures, anyone?)
The only way I plan on getting a Mr. Potato Head is if I happen to find one, and even then I’ll probably sell it (I don’t have any money)

No, sorry, the bottom of his feet are solid with screws on them.
