That’s kind of stupid how it’s rated PG-13. I know you’re being kind of optimistic about it, but I was just giving my opinion. So, no offense.
None taken! I take the whole PG-13 thing to a personal level with my [i]mom/i; she was startled when I told her the rating…you know, one of those people who think animation is a genre for kids. : P
Whether or not it really deserves to be the rating it receives (which, judging from interviews and the short and a whole bunch of other things, it probably does), I’m just glad that there’s finally a stop sign for parents who think that it’s okay to take their kid to any animation.
But, then again, it’s aimed at the MTV generation so maybe they’re just trying to make it look cool.

Now that I’ve studied this more, it looks AWESOME! I just watched the short, which made me even MORE anticapated! I think that this will be the best animated movie of the year!
My prediction:
- 9
- Coraline
- Up (this will probably change when I see it, but I really like the style of the first two movies on my list)
The clip from 9 looks awesome, but those flickering lights are really annoying.
Is the clip from the bonus on the website, where you enter your cell phone number?
Oh, my gosh, great find, totoro! Thanks!
What an amazing preview! [spoil]The snake robot looks so freaky, its flickering eyes remind me of the angelfish in Nemo and a cinema projector… and how it’s stitching up to the poor guy… oh, my gosh, I hope 9 saves the girl![/spoil]
This is shaping to be an awesome year for animation!
Ahhh, 7 is so feisty! I love her. Looks like the twins, 7, and 5 are going to be some of my favorite characters.
I don’t know about this one; I’m halfway through the trailer and it just looks strange. A planet that’s almost destroyed and a little creature makes what looks like clones of himself and sends them to a new planet. Intriguing, though. Anyone know where the original short is?
HUGE UPDATE!
So, there’s now an extended trailer of 9, which you can watch here.

The awesomeness knows no boundaries.
It’s official. I am seeing this movie the day it comes out.
Hoooleey-buh-jeebus!
This looks positively apocalpytic! Gaaah! This… is… so… awesome!
I swear, hearing “Welcome Home” as the theme song for these trailers sends chills down my spine! Every time!
I love the countdown they did at the end.
I’ve been trying to tell as many of my friends about this, but so far none of them seem to be interested. I’m hoping they show this as a trailer on the big screen in theatres (maybe when we go watch Up or something in like, three months time ); then they’ll be able to see it in its full awesomeness and appreciate it!
Thanks for the link, Haystack!
That totally made my night. Man, I can’t wait to draw fan art.
Just saw the short film. I’m, like, shocked.
I want more!
(Pause the trailer at 1:20. A bit Spielberg-esque, isn’t it? )
This does look very cool. Definitely gonna see this when it’s released.

If any of you are on Facebook, the Professor (aka “9 scientist”) has a page. It’s got some in-character behind-the-scenes stuff which is quite awesome.
Which is an official page, by the way : D
Saw the trailer for this at Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. This looks promising. Definitely has a unique feel, and the animation looks amazing as well. Defintely going to see this one.
I really don’t understand it, but I will go with it… I love all animation.
Since this one is Burton’s first CG animated film, I can’t wait for this.
I’m not sure if I saw the trailer for this either for Land of the Lost or Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, but, man, on the big screen, it’s mindblowing!
I like the tagline on the synopsis:
