I wonder if perhaps Thinkway is waiting to see how this Zurg does to determine if they want to release the one that they made. Given their recent “re-branding” of the line to the Toy Story Signature Collection, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were gauging the interest in TS products at the Disney Store to see if there’s still a decent market out there for these types of things. It would be rather foolish in my opinion, as it will anger more than a few collectors if they release a better Zurg with more movie accurate stuff shortly after we’ve all just purchased this one, but it wouldn’t be the first time that something like that has happened.
For those wanting more pics of zurg, these were posted on a facebook page:

I believe these belong to forum member Roundup Gang
In my opinion, I don’t think they could make a better ZURG TOY, except if thinkway toys make a toy story collection version of him with more features, but I’m not really expecting this to happen ^^
hiya guys, haven’t been positing for a while, but been lingering!
Im so excited for this new release on Zurg! But What exactly are the features of this guy anyway?
PS. Saw your collection a few posts back Slink, it’s looks brilliant. Well done, mate!
i did soime searching on foreign sites and found this:
blogs.yahoo.co.jp/sugnjp/60128969.html
Wish I could find a template for that
That is awesome!! If you click the first link under the picture it takes you to another post from that guy with a partial picture of his template, but that’s as close as I could find through exploration. It probably wouldn’t be too hard to create a template like that, the hardest part would be the measurements and the pictures on the box I would imagine.
Yeah, that’s what I meant, because at one point they had a prototype of Zurg for the Toy Story Collection, if I remember correctly. Then it became the U-Command and then it just got scrapped.
Mmmh I think the prototype you saw was actually the disney store version and not a TSC^^ Is it this one you’re talking about?
I think was actually from disney store x)
Yeah, that one is definitely the Disney Store one, the one I’m referring to didn’t have any pictures taken of it and posted here, it was mentioned by Doomseeker, another poster here, sometime last year, who saw it at the UK Toy Fair along with Twitch, Big Baby, Mr. Pricklepants, Dolly, and Buttercup, but the convention staff were not allowing anyone to take pictures of the items. The last 3 eventually became Wave 3 of the TSC line, with the others seemingly being shelved, be it temporarily or indefinitely we don’t know.
Those templates looked great; they even got Buzz’s design perfect (the TSC was wider for more packing).
Good find. Maybe I’ll take a stab at adapting both boxes for us. The measurments will be hardest part, making sure the pieces all fit together.
^^^ If you do manage to tackle that project I will be forever in your debt! I’ve wanted a correct Zurg and Zurg box almost as long and as much as I’ve wanted Buzz, and being able to have both of those boxes would be the highlight of any TS collection. It would even give people something to do with the extra Buzz that comes with Zurg if they don’t like it.
oh yeah right, I remember now ^^! maybe it was that disney store version though o_o who knows! We should ask doomseeker to know if it’s actually the one he saw ? ^^
Have you seen Pixar’s plans for it? They have some in-depth sketches to ensure that such a design could be plausible in real-life. Also, the TSC Buzz probably wouldn’t fit in it due to his arms, but it’d still be cool to have a replica box.
I like his design for the Zurg box, it’s a good estimate since I don’t think we’ve ever been shown the back of Zurg’s box. I think they might have shown it at the Disney ride, and Pixar may have made the texture for the back, but we don’t have access to any of those.
As for Buzz’s box, it looks like he went a little more detailed than he had to:
I thought the photoshop additions looked a little odd (the legs in particular).
I ran the site through a translator, from what I gather he says he had to lengthen the things at the bottom. I guess this is what allows a TSC buzz to fit? Keep in mind that we don’t have to add as much padding as a real toy, so I don’t think Bozz’s arms should be too much of a problem. It’ll just be slightly bigger than the movie version to acamadate for it, but still thinner than the TSC version.
I believe he was asked and said the Disney one is a third one. But I might be wrong on that.
What do you mean “is a third one”? sorry ><
i think what hestryting to say is doomseeker said that was not the zurg he saw. Id love those boxs if somebody took a swing at themm
I would be Eternally Grateful if someone made that Zurg Box.
I think we ALL would
Lol I didnt think people would be THAT excited about it haha. Glad I found it. It’d need some editing if it were to be modeled after that one since has has his logo all over it, but it still looks pretty awesome.
I wouldn’t be editing it the first place, rather I’d be starting from scratch. You pretty much have to, it’d be super blurry otherwise. The main thing is that he’s laid out how they fold together which is all I really wanted to get started. I should be able to use this as a basic template to build from.
