Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

well, he says that one can resize it for the disney store figures, so that would I guess mean it could HANDLE a resize, but again, I’m not going to throw away 2 bucks for no reason. on the flipside, 2 bucks plus the price at the print shop is SO going to be worth it if one can indeed print it for the Disney Store figures…

I think he meant you could edit it, not just that it could be blown up to full size. It’d blur like crazy. Also, i wonder if he means the talking figure or the 6 inch action figure. Disney store has an exclusive of each.

Good point! I shot him a message just to clarify.

Blowing it up while introducing blur is all you could do edit wise. (unless its all vector, then it’s a non issue, you can go as high res as you want without degrading anything) However you can recreate it by more or less tracing over it to create the higher res version. That’s if the resolution doesn’t hold up, but usually people design things with more resolution than needed anyway. So I’d be surprised if the original file wouldnt hold up printer larger. But well see. Im sure I can help convert it to a printable resolution if need be.

Well, I went ahead and flattened the actual TSC UBB box. its basic dimensions are 36 inches by 25.5 inches. as long as they can scan THAT, I’ll have something to work with. and even if not, I’ll just cut it up at the store until we CAN fit it into their largest scanner. my goal is to take out all the “Thinkway” added stuff and make it look exactly like the film. But I only have paint, so if anyone wants the pending file, just let me know (assuming they will even allow it to be scanned. like I said, they give me trouble about this sort of thing. hopefully I can find some sort of shop with a massive scanner, or at least resort to the local University…).

I REALLY need access to the interior of the box, though. my friend threw that out before handing it over. :frowning:

So I’ve started researching the official box, via screen caps. the movie box is a little more slim than the TSC box. the Movie box has a little more headroom, too. there are small details that are off with the TSC one, too (the blue detail on the side is a bit different, the features below his name are spaced wrong, same for the description on the back, the purple frame around the front windows is thinner at the bottom, but thicker around the other edges, the rocket details are fatter, the arrows that point out the wings are just ALL wrong, the wings are attached incorrectly). It REALLY SEEMS that the “Matty Collector” Buzz box is spot on. wish I had access to that, and could blow IT up.

Yeah, I used to think I would go the same route, take the same box and modify it, but it would almost be impossible, you’d be better off starting from scratch because the proportions and angles are all wrong.

I contacted a guy who did a review of the SDCC Buzz, asking if he could scan the various sides of that box and let me play. he hasn’t replied yet, but should, soon, maybe.

I noticed on my zurg there are gaps near the wheels on the bottom that allow you to look up all the way to the head when he’s lit up. It almost looks like zurg vision may have been possible with a few tweaks.

Good to know! I swear, I am asking all OVER the internet for scans of the Mattel figures box. no dice so far, but someone is bound to help soon, right? RIGHT?!?! hahaha. but seriously.this needs to happen.

People are lazy lol id say bribe them but atthat point youd be better off paying for the download lol

MAYBE. OR better off just buying the SDCC figure myself…

Im sure the download is cheaper

that’s true, but the box would end up yielding much higher resolutions (if that sort of thing isn’t available with the DL)

I’ve been reading through this thread and noticed a few posts regarding the Etch A Sketch. There seems to be, from what I’ve read so far, some doubt as to whether or not a movie accurate Etch actually exists. In case this hasn’t been addressed yet, my apologies if it has, the answer is yes it does. I’m including a pic of my Etch. It was manufactured on the 17th of Dec., 1990…

Well Zurg arrived today, and HOLY COW!!! The video and the current pictures just don’t do this guy justice, he is HUGE!!! So epic to finally have this guy in my collection, now I just have to wait until the box is finished and he will be that much more perfect.

your post makes me so jealous, still waiting on mine to arrive!

Got my Zurg yesterday as well. I’m pretty happy with him. The Buzz that came with him seems so cheap compared to the TSC versions. A TSC version Zurg with a head that moved around when he spoke would be awesome. Maybe they’ll see the Disney Store version selling well and want to put something out…maybe?

The cool part about the Buzz is the extra sayings and the karate chop action arm. Thinkway could have added this to theirs it seems, but maybe not due to the extra electronics to move the head.

Eh, I would have prefered more accurate features as opposed to ones that weren’t on him to begin with. That being said, I still can’t believe they were able to include karate chop action and the full wingspan (with lights). Sure, Thinkway is top notch when it comes to quality, but there’s always more that can be improved on.

Now, Zurg’s power meter doesn’t light up, does it? I noticed that both sides do in the film… which would probably make it hard for balls to actually shoot out, but we can still hope. It would be awesome if his teeth lighting up were synchronized with what he was saying, but that seems almost too complex. Oh well.

I’ve played with the tsc buzz, but ultimately I prefer the Disney version. Slap som glow in the dark paint on him, he becomes just like he is on film
