Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

Regarding the Chatter phones, has anyone taken the electronics out from the new one and installed in an actual vintage one? I love the phones voice, or who evers talking to Woody, haha. Would make a great almost TSC chatter phone.

Hi im planning on making my own set of Troikas but I was wondering what picture you used to copy all the detail onto the wooden eggs because I can’t find a good picture of the Troikas set anywhere thanks

Wampar, do you have any plans to make any of the mutant toys?

Haven’t decided about the mutant toys yet. Just about every piece would have to be made from scratch, which with my limited “from scratch” experience would be a huge undertaking…especially since there were 9 main mutant toys. We will see how I feel once I finish Andy’s toys and the new guys from TS3.

The main pic I used for the Troikas came from Toy Story 2: The Essential Guide, which came out in 1999. I also played the BluRay and took pictures with my camera to get better reference from more angles. I do not have the ability to play BluRay on my computer, so I have no way to do screen grabs without being ghetto and just taking pictures of the screen.

I hear Tyler was making an accurate Babyface, but I wonder how far he got with that. So far, Ducky is the only one that can be made from current materials, although I don’t know if that exact Duck head exists. Every other mutant has at least one original part.

thanks a lot, i will buy the Toy Story 2: The Essential Guide from ebay

also wampar ring stackers would also be needed to complete the collection which they have in every infant/toddler section for cheap.

Any photoshoppers want to take a crack at this graphic? Just the sticker portion.

Yeah, I have looked at them before, but I think they might be part of the line I am going to have to draw for myself. I could spend the entire rest of my life looking for absolute completion, but with the shear number of nameless toys that are going to be introduced on Friday at Sunnyside I think I am going to have to be a little selective…otherwise I will go crazy.

I don’t think that’ll work, even if the texture could be flattened, it would probably be too low-quality to work with. Though, there are PLENTY of toys which use that decal (I’m not sure if they include the ‘Warning’ box, but that could be whipped up in photoshop easily).

Well you couldnt just use those images, you’d have to recreate it from scratch, but using those as reference.

I can try the rocket graphic. the only problem is thinking in terms of how much space to leave between each element so that it wraps around a cylinder shape and still looks accurate. I’m not used to making labels that wrap around like this.

I need to know the exact dimensions of the label too. if you have a pre made rocket and know where it should start and stop, I could use those measurements to determine the rest.

I was posting the images for reference. As for the cylinder, the images would be too rectangles.

I have some other pals who can do it though, I’ll post the final one here once its done.

That’s actually what mr spell is based off of

If you’re still having trouble with the scale, it looks almost exactly 12 inches high, basically Buzz’s height.

And does anyone think the ‘Fat Cow Farms’ label on Sid’s milk crates (seen in the last picture) are a reference to Byrne Dairy?

Considering the fact that Pixar was located in Point Richmond, CA in those days, I’m pretty sure the reference is to Berkeley Farms (which was just 10 miles from them).

I like JC. I wish he would post here, I’ve invited him.

wampar would it be possible to see the back of your Troikas it would be really appreciated.

Sure, but don’t judge the back of the Goldfish too harshly…the scales kinda got away from me, and no one is ever supposed to see the back of them.

Thanks wampar! I’m still waiting for my copy of the Essential Guide to get here, so your photos have been a great help at filling in the blanks. I’ve got screen grabs from the DVD, but there were a few spots I couldn’t quite make out.

My wife is a pretty good tole painter, so she has already volunteered to paint me a set.
