wasnt trying to be vague, I thought it would obvious from what I quoted, was just pointing out the specular highlight. this means the whites are glossy, no?
The whites on the eyes are no more glossy than the other parts. And most of the other parts on the tsc toy are flat rather than gloss.
Its all about incorporating the design, rather than trying to overstep the toy making the eyes look like “add ons” rather than something that came with the toy which is what I’m striving to do.
I’m trying to cater to everyone, so dont take it the wrong way. Just making sure no one is unhappy.
Thats only if you overly use 5 minute epoxy like that guy did. If he wouldve not been so sloppy, it wouldve worked perfectly. Or use an even faster set, or even better an actual Doming resin designed to set on surfaces like that (used for the gloss coat on computer chips), which is what I have. After the eyes are sealed, that is the product I will use to apply to the black pupils, giving them the life we need.
I’m not trying to tell you what to do, I just thought you weren’t glossing the whites because you came to the conclusion that the whites were not glossy in the movie design. and I agreed at the time, until I found that pic. (which I took from the screen saver animation on the kelloggs site if anyone’s curious)
Not sure I get your meaning about overstepping the toy design…making any and every part look more accurate is a good thing isn’t it? are you suggesting its not enough to gloss the eyes unless your going to gloss every part? for consistency?
which is why your leaving them alone? and if the people who buy them want to gloss them they can?
I just cant imagine anyone would not want them glossed, but if there is then I get your point.
Hmm, maybe. It just comes down to money for the materials. I don’t have much to work with right now. especially if I plan to get bullseye or Jessie any time soon.
What would I need to actually do this? Outside of the mold of course. Just resin and paint? Would I need any clay?
Urethane resin called Smooth Cast 300. It is a 1:1 mix. You will also need internal colorant to tint the resin with, as it casts off white unless you tint or paint after. Painting after, requires a good primer, and your paints. You will need sealer (matte or gloss spray clear). And to get an even more shimmer past the finish of the matte or gloss clear (which leaves a slightly glossy surface regardless) you can use epoxy or doming resin for the pupils.
You will also need urethane glue for the hex plugs.
You would have to possibly charge more than my runs, as these are something I’m doing in between things and had most of the materials via the other projects, rather than charging for double the materials.
I always wondered…is it possible to put a actual pull string (slowly goes in) in woody as like a trigger for the voice box? it seems posible, but i never saw a inside of a woody doll to see if it works.
For those who still wanted to see the Kellogg’s bank.
Another cool thing is that he’s made so that his nails don’t touch the surface, so the paint won’t get scratched.
EDIT: Image Shack sux
The pictures aren’t working…
are some of the stuff real?..not like they existed back then but like real props lol
Those are just shots from the bonus features of the dvds, no?
That said, I think they really did make most if not all of those those, I think John Lasseter has them all. Don’t think their publicly available though. probably one of kind.
I dont know if anyones posted this already, but for those of you wondering heres a video of that disney store Buzz and his features. youtube.com/watch?v=or89_CPL5e0
Nice! I’ve spent hours trying to find out about that particular Buzz. Found it on Disney Store’s website and no one else seemed to know anything about it. Thanks for posting, Billbarman!
Whos going to be the first to take this, and the TSC Buzz, and mod the ULTIMATE Buzz Lightyear? I am ordering one of those!
I’ve seen those on Sam’s Club’s website. Sam’s has got it listed for $49, but neither of them are the “Collection” versions. It’s basically the original $35 talking Woody, and a plush Bullseye.
I have. My nephew has it.
Edit: Nevermind, I thought it was something else.
Wampar, have you ever considered making a Zurg?
He has hasn’t he? wasn’t he the one who made one out of a cup? or am I mixing that up with someone else?
