Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

I come back from vacation and the first thing I hear is that this thread’s going to be deleted. GAAH!! Good to hear it’s not true though. And, as many others have said, your collection Wampar truly is inspiring, and awe-inspiring at that. I finally unearthed my old Etch, and began sculpting Rocky. Already though I can tell he’s going to be a pain in the neck. It’s only my second time with sculpey, as I’m more of an oil clay guy myself.
For Rocky’s scale, I used an image showing him in line with some Toddle Tots (will post pic soon) and measred my own tots at just shy of two inches. I then counted how many tots high Rocky was (about 5 1/2) putting him somewhere between 10 and 11 inches.

Edit: Here’s the image I used.

I know it looks like he is in line with the See ‘n’ Say, but we can’t see the bottom of that so we don’t know how far back it really is. You may disagree, but it’s not like I’m making one for you, it’s just for me, and I don’t really care if it’s wrong anyway, as long as its within about 2"

Ha! I love how you measured for your Rocky. It reminds me of a t shirt I had when I was a kid. It showed me that a Smurf was three apples high…

Rocky Gibraltar: 5 toddle tots high.

Can’t wait to see how your Rocky turns out.

And I love what you said about only having to please yourself. It is true. It is why I am quite content with my 6 inch Rocky. He is little, but he is awesome.

And thanks everyone foe the kind words.

Thanks! I actually considered using Tyler’s idea of expanding resin, but since I no longer consider him to be twice the size of the six inch, I ditched it. Still, I would like to have the six inch for sculpting referance, but I can’t seem to find it now. But that’s okay, as I don’t really need it. I’m doing the head first, and will be probably posting some pictures after I do some more work on it.

Love the collection, wampar. I think the Monkey in particular looks great. Although I can’t help but notice The Simpsons on the back shelf…

OMG If I every go by your neighbor hood lock your doors becuase I might be tempted to steal all that

Does Anyone know how to make Lotso Hugin Bear a cane?

I was the one who made it. i just made an account.

LOL I have some of those Simpsons playsets, but most of those figures I don’t… :frowning:

You did a great job, Nicki! I hope you don’t mind that I made one suitable for printing at 5x7 size (click on the image to get the full size version for printing):

Thats Nice. I Think Thats Good too.

Wampar, how did you cope with the hole between Slinky’s eyes? Did you use some sort of brown putty?

I’m sorry if you have already stated this, but searching 99 pages for one question seemed a little cumbersome.

I cope by trying to pretend that it isn’t there.
But sadly, it is.

Maybe when I complete my additions in a few months, I will circle back around and spruce him up a little, including filling in the hole…but for the moment I am okay with it…have had him this way for many years.

He just left the hole. Drag his group shot into the web address bar to see a higher resolution. But their are still ways to cover it up.

Edit: Whoops, Wampar himself beat me too it. I guess I should really stop answering questions for other people anyway. Sorry.

And to foopetlover, 1) you fake CoA looks really not-fake! (same to yours RoboDad) and 2) Wampar made a fantastic Lotso cane out of wooden dowels, and he explained how a while back, but if you don’t feel like doing a little digging you could ask him to maybe re-post it for you.

Also, this is a question directed towards anyone who has a 6" Rocky: could you lay him on his face and photograph his entire back? No rush, it’s just that my head is almost done and while I can easily assume the back of his head, I will soon need the back of his body.

On the topic of my Rocky, the real hardest part of him has finally been determined: his joints. I’m getting more used to Sculpey as time goes by, but creating pieces that connect in a way giving him the perfect balance of mobility and not-completely-loose-ness is still going to be difficult.

My Rocky is the Medicom Rocky released overseas in the mid-late 90s. The sculpt is a little different than the Toys R us exclusive from a couple of years ago…but I think it looks pretty darn good. He is only articulated at the shoulders and hips…everything else is sculpted.
Hope these images help you out.

Here Is A Slinky Certificate Of Authenticity. You Are Welcome To Save It To Your Computer And Print It.

Yeah, Wampar…would you mind posting some how-to stuff??
Starting with your awesome lamp and sheep.

I was intrigued by the Disney Store Buzz’s features so I picked one up. The TSC Buzz wins all the way, but as a toy I think the Disney Store Buzz is a better deal than Thinkway’s cheaper Talking, Karate Chop, or Blast Off Buzz. Unlike the Disney Store Buzz pictured in the video or website, the karate chop button on the one I got is gray instead of red. Unfortunately, you can’t tell which one you’ll get by looking at it packaged. In the store, there was also another Buzz at the same price but it looked more like the inaccurate early models and was sticky to the touch (yuck!).

Well, I don’t know much of a tutorial I can really offer…most of it was just good ole fashioned sculpting.

For the sheep I started by making a ball of foil to give the sheep body volume without having to use boxes and boxes of sculpey, as well as keeping them pretty light. Can’t remember where I learned this trick, it might have even been printed on the box at one point. But I started by sculpting the legs and baking them, then I sculpted the three heads, again staring with a little foil ball, and working sculpey around it. I baked the heads, then used the dried heads and legs to sculpt and proportion the body. After baking the body I sanded all of the surfaces and hot glued the heads to the sheep. Then I painted them with my standard craft paints. Tonight I put the finishing touch on them, which it hadn’t dawned on me to do this: but I coated them with a satin finish clear coat (my clown and my Troikas too)…it really does give them a nice finished look.

The lamp base I started out by trying to do the foil base thing, but I realized quickly that it wasn’t going to work, so after trying to figure how to make the base it dawned on me: I lined the inside of a glass pie pan with sculpey, and baked it like a pie crust. Before baking it I measured how far in I would need plce the hole of the lamp, and I cut a thin strip in the back of the pie. I did not remove this piece, just cut it before baking so it would be easy to cut after baking. Look again now that you know: the base is TOTALLY a pie crust. Anyway, I removed the full piece from the pan and cut put the strip. I then cut about 3/4 of an inch from both ends of the strip, one for the lamp post and one for its power cord. I then painted the whole thing green with the blue trim. The flowers are stickers I got at Michaels from the scrap booking section. They came with little pearl type beads, which I painted yellow. Finally the lamp shade is something I whipped up in photoshop, and printed on a semi-gloss photopaper. I painted the pink bands on the shade itself and tucked the printout under the lip of the shade, and glued it together in the back.

I personally do not plan to leave it plugged in, and will only do so for special occasions or pictures, because while I am sure it wold be fine since the inner layer of the lamp shade is exactly as it was sold to me, I still feel keeping the light burning for any amount of time might be a fire hazard.

RoboDad d you think you can whip up a few COA PLEASE

UB Buzz (cuz its the same one if you buy both buzz) and Wheezy please

Wow thanks Wampar! You really went the extra mile! After seeing close up head sculpts I think my helmet/hat/hair thing Is a bit short, but I think I’m just gonna leave it. Your pictures are going to be infinately helpful thank you!
