Well, what a change of format from the other WALL•E trailers we are used to…
[spoil]It was good to have the narration for a change, and different music rather than the typewriter song (as much as I like it). EVE seems like such a badass. She has so much style. I like how WALL•E threw the diamond away to play with the box.
And when EVE said “WALL•E!” tear I didn’t quite catch what WALL•E said… EVE covered with Christmas lights was cute.
The space scenes in this movie are going to be amazing.[/spoil]
waits for trailer to be released in HQ
rachelcakes1985- I loved that part with [spoil]EVE saying WALL-E too. Her voice is so cool. I think WALL-E says “EeeeeVah”, I know, I know, eevah doesn;t mean anything, but then again, WALL-E doesn;t really speak (our language).[/spoil]
I thought [spoil]WALL•E said “EVE!”, like he was worried for her, but it sounded like “Eva” to me. I think he was trying to say “EVE”, but I’m not as sure, but it’d make sense, right?[/spoil] ![]()
Thanks for stepping in, Mitch, but I must make a few adminly notes:
CartoonBoy is not new. He has been a member for over 1 year, and he’s a dedicated lurker. ![]()
Googly-Bear, please don’t act like a mod if you aren’t one. I appreciate you trying to maintain peace around here, but we’ll handle situations as soon as possible. ![]()
Sorry, martini, but CartoonBoy is right. Pixar uses Maya as well as Marionette. Both are customized to suit their needs, and the animators have their choice of using the program they are the most comfortable with. For comparison, I could probably animate the same thing with either After Effects or Flash, but my experience with After Effects surpasses that with Flash, so I have stuck to using it for years.
And those are the FINAL words on the subject. Moving on for real and for good…
[spoil]What WALL•E says sounds like “EVE-A” to me.[/spoil]
~~=oP
WALL*E said EVE. It sounds like EVA because if you say EVE, being out of breath, and breath out right after saying the word, it sounds like “ah” is on the end (don’t ask me why a robot fakes breathing, or talks for that matter). Either way, he sounded like E.T. when he said it.
Also, if the music from the [spoil]Hello Dolly[/spoil] scene is it the movie, I can see it being a real tear jerker.
I wholeheartedly agree Skippy. On both accounts. It does sound like a an “ah” when you do it in a longer breath. And I did think he sounded a lot like E.T. when he said that. After all Ben Burtt is voicing little ol’ WALL•E so similarities are likely to occur.
sorry Pixar Vixen, I just didn’t like him ganging up on Martini like that. ![]()
You know if you look closely when [spoil]EVE holds the lightbulb, you’ll notice she has three fingers that retract. So she has a gun, fingers, and floating arms, and she looks like she was made by Apple, she’s like the coolest robot ever!![/spoil]
PV: Is it ok if I continue the debate on the appropriate forum?: pixarplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2271
Oh, and sorry about that. ![]()
EDIT: Although I can’t think of anything, does anyone want to speculate on the meaning of EVE, what it stands for.
EVE: Obviously, the word “Earth” has to be in there somewhere, but I’ve no clue about the V, unless I think…some more…and more…
…vehicle?
Erecting Vehicle - Earth Class?
Seriously, I have no clue.
A113- I’m guessing one of the Es means Earth too, but maybe not, because in the trailer [spoil]there where other EVEs that where obviously NOT on Earth.[/spoil]
My guess is: Experimental Something Earth, but that’s probably WAY off.
I also thought WALLE said: [spoil]“EVA-AH”, but I didn’t think it would be right 'cause that doesn’t make sense. Maybe it’s his pet name for her?
As to what EVE stands for… I have no idea and wouldn’t even want to guess. As others have said, an E might stand for Earth since she does go back to check on Earth.[/spoil]
rachelcakes1985- I think WALL-E said [spoil]EVE plus a sigh, which sounded like eve-ah. I don’t know why WALL-E makes sounds associated with breathing but he sure does it a lot in the trailers. So, I’m concluding he said: EVE(sigh) the sigh being the “ah” sound.[/spoil]
A sigh? Erm, robots don’t sigh, or at least I don’t think they do… am I missing something here? Because my opinion is that WALL-E lacks the organic lungs and esophagus to perform a sigh.
Also, WALL-E’s voice, at any time, is robotic. It’s all very confusing when you put these two factors together as there are many contradicting factors revolving round the theory.
WALL-E makes lots of sounds associated [spoil]with breathing, for example in the first international teaser he “sighs” right before he runs over his pet cockroach, of course it’s a mechanical sounding sigh to match all his other sounds. You know, he IS a robot, but he does ACT (or try to act) like a human, so why not? Your logic seems to invalidate the possibility of talking robots, I mean, he speaks, yet he doesn’t have lungs or vocal chords, which are normally needed for a voice, so why can’t it be programmed to sigh?[/spoil]
P.S. You may want to put the above in tags.
Not necessary. In the case of a robot, a sound device is probably inserted. Are you to say that speakers also require vocal chords or lungs to create the noise they do? Though I agree that the “sigh” might be existent; probably created from the sound device I mentioned.
And my previous post is not a spoiler, merely a fact regarding robots. You people out way too much spoiler tags, it’s almost like you’re toying with those tags.
No need to insult the tags. Haha You need to respect that other people DON’T want to know what’s going on so that at the theatre they are completely surprised.
Anyways, it seems you just don’t get it, I’m saying the sigh comes from the vocal device, but your logic of WALL-E being unable to sigh would mean he was unable to speak, so I was just clearing that up.
See what I mean, he also lacks the lungs to speak, yet he does it with a mechanical voice, so why can’t he sigh mechanicaly, if he can speak, just the same?
Erm, lungs to speak? A sigh requires a take in of oxygen, hence I mentioned the lungs… you do not necessary need lungs to speak, theoretically speaking.
And it is my bad, as I failed to notice significant points of the post previously before the one above (probably due to the excessive use of tags, maybe?
). And I saw that trailer; it didn’t look much like a sigh to me, looks more like a desperate attempt of yours to support your argument. ![]()
And if you notice…
Firstly, it’s an opinion.
Secondly, by “It’s all very confusing,” I was further emphasizing in that my statement is an opinion, as I was confused and I desired an answer, it was not my logic, as you stated. If what I pointed out was a logical factor, there shouldn’t be any confusions in me, but I digress…
However, you are correct in that maybe a sigh could be recorded beforehand and the sound device may bring out that particular sound when WALL-E desires.
Ok, well now I’m confused, but I can assure you, right before WALL-E steps on the roach, he sighs. Don’t accuse me of being desperate, it’s just my analysis and you chose to question it, I answered it, you could’ve left it at that.
You were all hostile from your first post which was “acting as an answer to my question”… I call that desperate. ![]()
And yeah, that is my bad, there was a sigh before the roach-stepping. I thought you were referring to while he was stepping on the roach, which would be bizarre as to him sighing during that time…
