lennonluvr9 - Heheh – I see what you’re saying. The second trailer is played out as more of a commercialized subsidy of the official plot-line, in that it basically describes the function of the WALL-E mechanism, how it is constructed, and what its “main” purpose is in life (which is to renew the earth by flushing it of debris).
The first, official teaser, however, is, as previously stated, “official”. The main character, WALL-E, is subtley introduced, whilst the plot is hidden beneath the limits of one’s imagination (at least, it is for the time being).
Personally, I prefer the first trailer over its “commercially-based” successor, but that’s just me. Number one had more heart, in my opinion – it reached out to its audience in a very definitive and heart-warming manner.
So yeah. There you have it. At least, I think I translated that right…
I think that was kinda what I was getting at Mitch. It did seem more commercial than previous ones. So yeah, you translated that one pretty well. (It’s always a plus to be able to translate English into better English ) Thanks, you really cleared most of that up for me!
Hey Tiz!!!Pixar, thanks for the link. YouTube is a Godsend for people who don’t have access to this stuff all the time.
However… I think the second trailer, based on what I’ve seen (which is the first trailer where he says his name in that totally devastating way, and the second one with the ‘commercial’) does do a lot of exposition, not so much about the plot, as about the circumstances and ‘world’ of the movie. We know this is in a future Earth “voice-command your holoscreen” and that the Earth is getting so mired in waste that people are leaving it “Enjoy the stars! When you return, Earth will be waiting, even better than when you left it.” - although whether for a day-trip or for longer periods is not clear. I think probably the former.
As for “what he was meant for” - I think, based on Trailer 1, that it’s space exploration. Definitely not a love story - ever notice how Pixar never makes the romance the main point of any of their movies? Bob and Helen get married in the first ten minutes, Marlin and Dory never do get hitched, Ratatouille… you get the picture. I don’t think they’d cheapen it by doing that.
K3vin- Thanks so much for the link! They didn’t actually show anything about Wall-E when I went to see Ratatouille, so it’s a relief that we can watch it on the internet.
I think its too early to be criticizing Walle trailers. Those 2 or 3 trailers are not going to be the only trailers of walle. Pixar is gonna make lots more and they just want to make different kinds. I think that commercial/trailer of buynlarge is a nice thing to include. Very creative.
I know this isn’t technically about the teaser trailer, but I didn’t think it worth it to start a whole new topic- today, on the AOL home page they had a list of ‘30 movies being released in 2008 that will change your life’ and Wall-E was the most anticipated! They said that they wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being as big as E.T.
that’s nearly 1,800 millions $ worth of international box office
hope this prediction will materialize : I’m sure Wall-e is gonna be huge both artistically and financially
saluti
lizardgirl - Haha. How interesting! Well, I wouldn’t doubt it. It does look to be a most fantastic production. It’s gonna blow people’s socks off I’m sure…
