Haha, the Felix and Calhoun romance was pretty cute, and Calhoun’s horrifying “written” backstory added more depth to it. My favourite was the one between Ralph and Vanellope, it reminded me of a buddy cop movie, except, you know, without the “cop” bit (They bicker and argue, but become best buds at the end).
Nice one TDIT! Kari from The Incredibles! I love that song from Skrillex in Heros Duty, I never really liked that sort of stuff, but since WIR, I have some of his songs! Skrillex makes a short cameo in the film too, at the Fix it Felix Jr. 30th anniversary party, he appears as the DJ XD
Glad you caught that, TDIT When I was trying to figure out a name for her, I noticed that a lot of the Racers have names that are combinations of sweets and normal names (such as Vanellope, which is obviously “vanilla” and “Penelope” combined), and somehow I thought it’d be awesome to stick a little Pixar nod in her name. So… yeah…
Just a thought, if you were to ask me which of the two character relationships I enjoyed the most, I’d have to say it’s a straight tie! Ralph and Vanellope are such a great dynamic duo and have so many great lines as well as endearing heartfelt moments, while Felix and Calhoun are… ohmygosh… such an adorable couple! (I’ll save you my fangirly speech on them here. I already wrote as such in the “Who’s your fave Disney Couple?” thread) These awesome characters are one of my fave things about WIR… they bring so much fun, life, and heart to this film!
Much like The Emperor’s New Groove, the main characters in this film look quite identical to their voice actors (to a certain degree, I mean). I actually think that’s kind of funny. This film actually just barely beat out that film for me as funniest Disney film in my opinion. Both are hilarious, but I think this movie has more visual humor, just naturally with it being set in the world of video games.
And yes, OWP, I noticed your clever Kari name, but TDIT beat me to it. In a much funnier way, too! I love that pelican!
.
I really like the clever character names in WIR - copypasted from the Fridge Brilliance section of the TV Tropes article:
You know, Monsters Vs Aliens was playing on the television in the newsroom while I was at work - and I was watching Stephen Colbert’s character on screen…
Eeehhh…???
Haha, thanks. I was gonna go with Fry from Futurama, but I couldn’t resist Nigel IRL.
…
Has anyone else read the Art Of book yet or bought the Blu-Ray?
Yeah, Stephen Colbert’s character in Monsters vs Aliens is both him in looks and personality. (Well, the Colbert Report’s Stephen Colbert, not actual Stephen Colbert)
Colbert was, personally, the only thing I liked in that whole 90 minute movie. But I think Calhoun is very pretty! But in a more modern way, not classical beauty. She certainly adds variety to the Disney ladies’ looks.
I like the look of Calhoun! Very attractive yet un-traditional. I love that!
Man, I wish I could buy some of the toys because they look really cool. Only problem is, I’ve bought my life’s share of toys already and buying any more toys would be bad. I need to apply the theme of Toy Story 2: toys are meant to be played with!
Oh well. Hopefully the movie will be a beloved franchise so that there will be lots of the movie’s toys still around that I can buy when I have my own kids!
Ugh. Evilbay is evil. That’s why I have yet to get any Disney dolls there. I might surrender and do it anyway one day though. I want the Vanellope talking doll, but she’s huge, and $25. I guess that isn’t that bad, but I don’t have that much either.
Yeah, I agree. I fail at eBay, plus I don’t think I really like it. I want at least a boy and a girl, that way one can obsess over Wreck-It Ralph and Cars 2 toys and the other can beg me for all those Disney princesses. Hey, at least they all won’t technically be my toys! Nah, just playin’! < (look, it’s a pun! )
Hahaha, I agree! Good excuse! Poor kids, though…nah, I would be good to my kids. I would show them all of my favorite movies and they’d probably become ultra-animation fans (of the good ones).
True that! I will “teach” them to like the Pixar films and most of the Disney films as well as the good DreamWorks films, and so on. And I will only support their interest with some toys!
Okay, okay. I particularly like these ones, and I love the bolded parts…
-the bad-anon scene (well, the whole intro)
-Celebration
-Ralph and Felix’s awkward moment
-Calhoun straightening out Ralph in Hero’s Duty
-every King Candy scene
-Nesquik sand
-Shut Up and Drive
-the final race
-Ralph’s sacrifice -Ralph’s last line
-When Can I See You Again?
Still like an outline but a bit more narrowed down, I guess.
These are some of my favorite lines, who wants to guess who says 'em?
(2) means two people said it.
“If he was a regular contractor, I guarantee you that you would not be able to fix the damage I did that quickly”.
“Anything to declare?” “I hate you”. “I get that a lot. Proceed.” (2)
“So! Heard about this cake stuff. I’ve never had it. Nobody ever seems to throw it out in the garbage.”
“What’s the first rule of Hero’s Duty?” “No cuts, no butts, no coconuts?” (2)
“I see you’re a fan of pink.” “Salmon. Salmon, that is obviously salmon!” (2)
“Fungeon. It’s a fun dungeon. It’s a play on words. Never mind!”
“Goodbye, Wreck-It Ralph! It hasn’t been a pleasure!”
“Let’s say I’m you, and I’m in my weird little car, and I’m driving, and I actually feel kind of cool for once…”
“Frosting! A butt-load of frosting!”
“Your face is still red.” “Oh, I’m not hurting. That’s just the honey-glow in my cheeks!” (2)
“…I hereby decree that everyone who was ever mean to me shall be…executed.”
“And if that kid likes me, how bad can I be?”
Sorry if I messed up, I want to try and memorize this whole movie like Toy Story 1 & 2.
