Ooh, thanks for the tidbit!
I agree, I can’t help but feel that Disney should’ve started marketing this earlier…I have no idea what to expect from its box office. I do hope it’s successful however.

They missed out on a great opportunity putting one before The Avengers, IMO. I’m not quite sure what to predict for the box-office totals yet. But if they market it agressively like Tangled, it could be a success.
I also saw the trailer because of the AMC summer Pixar weekend, specifically four times, so I’m quite familiar with it already. I feel like it will be along the lines of Bolt. It will probably be decent and entertaining but nowhere near a classic.
One thing I didn’t like about the trailer is the music in the trailer. Too loud, too much! I’m not looking for softer, instrumental music or anything because of the concept, but I still felt overwhelmed and slightly annoyed.
How did the animation look? I’m curious to see Wreck-It Ralph and Fix-It Felix in their 8-bit forms.
You want to know how the actual game looked? It was just like an old video game, basically. The regular CGI forms are I guess what you would expect out of Disney. Ralph’s hands really are huge.
The whole trailer gives me the impression that the film is looking to make people laugh and seem edgy instead of feeling like a classic Disney film. I wonder what the soul of the film will be beyond Ralph wanting to be a hero or whatever. If there’s edge, I think there should be equal amount of “soul” and heart in the film, such as Lilo & Stitch. I question how well this film will do in that sense. It’s definitely a creative idea, but I wonder what it will do for Disney, as it just doesn’t seem to fit in with their canon.
I’ve been hearing that Wreck-It Ralph is being compared to New Groove by some, and I agree it that. It’s going against the 90’s Disney formula and most of the tone of some of their other films. I’m glad since that is a big risk.
I’m only just now realizing this is coming out of WDAS and not just an animated movie that Disney is helping to produce. Wow. They really need to get to marketing this one more then!
I’m kind of on the fence on that character art but I haven’t seen enough to judge.
Wait wait wait… about “the love interest”:
It’s the Sugar Rush girl voiced by Sarah Silverman? Really? She looks like a little kid! That’s kind of disturbing to me.
Only a few more days until the teaser! I’m hoping Disney agressively markets this film like how they did Tangled’s marketing campains.
I heard the trailer was leaked. Has anyone seen it? Can they describe it? Also, it’s pretty smart that Disney is releasing the trailer at E3.
What was shown during Pixar Summer Movie Weekend was not a teaser. It was a full-length trailer, so that may make some people happy to see. It also features the songs “Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads and “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida. Like I said in another thread (or in this one?), not really crazy about using music like that, and although the movie is obviously about contemporary subject matter, it’s just too loud and in-your-face. Anyway, for anyone who wants to know the gist of the trailer:
It begins with the Talking Heads song and the original arcade game of Ralph repeatedly being defeated by Fix-It Felix Jr, and then it changes into CGI animation, where Ralph is at an AA-type meeting with other video game villains (the only one I recognized was a Pacman ghost), including a zombie who flails his arms and slurs his words. Theeeen Ralph goes to this big station that has entrances to other video games in his quest to become a hero (or something?), including Sugar Rush, where he is mocked by a cute little girl (Sarah Silverman) on a candy cane tree, and then he’s in an intense shooter game called Hero’s Duty, and he’s intimidated by the violence. Jane Lynch basically plays her typical character in the shooter game, and it even looks like her. Felix seems to be a villain and is desperate to find Ralph to have someone to defeat and make him a hero, but I’m not sure.
I sometimes like it when Disney does “edgy,” as in The Emperor’s New Groove or Lilo and Stitch, but both of those films have roots in classic Disney films, or at least in good storytelling. I have no idea what to think of WIR! I think it will be a hilarious hit or a decent miss. It’s very different from other animated movies I’ve seen, and it has little to do with past Disney films, which some may find to be a good or a bad thing.
First official image from the movie features Q-Bert and Chun-Li and Zangief from Street Fighter.
I got so excited when I ran across that still on Tumblr today- I really like the character design for Ralph! It’ll be interesting to see how this turns out. It’s rare that Disney even makes a film that isn’t based on an existing story. Hopefully the risk pays off.
Oh, if anyone’s interested, I ran across this footage of a Fix-it Felix game from the D23 expo last year when I was trying to find the leaked trailer. I don’t remember seeing this before, or if I did, it didn’t make much of an impression. It gives us a look at the 8-bit animation. I imagine that Ralph will look like this in the film when he’s in the game. youtube.com/watch?v=Gxa_p_tULyE
That image looks great!
^ Awesome!
So when’s the trailer gonna be released today?
Trailer? Can I just
see it? Please? Pretty please? Can’t find it anywhere and that makes me a sad badger- wait, it’s gonna be released today?
omg I’m so excited for this movie you wouldn’t believe. This makes up for the fairly disappointing E3 I swear
And if they add in K. Rool I can, er… faint happy! Yeah. I’m so excited for this that I can’t even make up the motivation to RP omg what is happening

^^Trailer’s here, guys! WIR looks promising, I’m feeling much better about it after seeing a trailer. I especially like Jack McBrayer as Felix.
