You know what really grinds my gears?

Well, we get to vote for the members of the parliament (including the president, of course), so that’s considered as ‘democratic’ by people. :unamused:

I don’t want to go either, but they claim it as ‘being loyal to the country, protecting it with our lives,’ blah, blah, blah…

hmmm…so its kinda like Russia?

Nah, Russia’s a little chaotic, if you ask me, lots of murder and stuff. Singapore’s a lot more peaceful compared to other countries.

ahhhh…i see

Comparing Obama to Hitler: lollercakes!

i’d hate too because of their idea seperation but the fanbase is almost the same…when was the last time you heard kids singing about a political leader?

Well, they do both have that tiny little moustache, don’t they?

WBoon- Wow, that is tough. How long do you have to stay in the military for?

Smoking is annoying. I love the smell of cigarettes, and have been tempted in the past, but the idea of actively doing something that is harming your own body is very strange. I can see why people get addicted, though, and peer pressure is a big factor in the numbers of people smoking.

It annoys me that every time I switch on the TV to watch the news, it’s always about the credit crunch and how everyone’s running out of money and all the banks are going to collapse and so forth. I’m fed up of it now.

I believe two to three years is the standard period. You earn cash there (S$300 per month) so you could stay there after that for as long as you desire. Three hundred Singapore Dollars is good, but I think I would rather pass on the boot camp job.

WBoon- Well, least the money’s not bad, and it’s not for years and years on end. But I guess it still must be pretty nerve-wracking nonetheless.

And dangerous, too. I just hope the officers won’t grind me too hard. :frowning:

Dangerous ?

well they could really push him…it could get serious.

As I said, many people died in the Singapore army before. There was one guy who got pushed into a river by an officer even after he claimed that he can’t swim. Few more guys died a few months ago for performing too many push-ups, exerting themselves to death.

Just recently, two more died due to reasons unknown to me.

I’ll see you in hell, guys. :smiling_imp: Kidding.

Oh Man …

I would totally hate if I had to serve in the army.

But aren’t you lucky that you don’t have to now…?

True, but I believe I would rather be arrested and thrown in jail for a few years than serve in the army.

As I said, you are very lucky that you, an American, don’t have to serve in the army. We get it, seriously. :unamused:

Actually, if you get drafted, then you appearently won’t have a choice, but there isn’t a need for a draft right now.

Yeah, for you Americans. We Singaporean boys have to suffer under the grind after the age of 18, so just can it already.
