Your Friend the Rat

Well, there isn’t really much information for it yet. All we know is that it features Remy and Emile.

If it has just Remy and Emile in it…then it MAY be a past exploit the two had…maybe what moved Remy onto fine food…

“Your friend the rat…” Is it me…or…does that sound like the end of a letter folks?
Well actually…everyone recall when Remy said, not a spoiler since it’s just a quote and was in a commercial, when Emile said:
“You can read?”
“Well not excessively”.

Does this mean that BEFORE Guesteau’s book Remy read? And if so, that means he has, to a point, the ability to write?
Could it be that the title itself is the end of a letter Remy’s writing to someone?

Nexas- I think your friend the rat is actually like an informational video title (i.e. your friend math, your friend science: an old slideshow type thing , your friend animals: for PETA) You know stuff from the 60’s that they show in cartoons.
Can someone try to clarify my statement.Anywyas i think it’ll be just some of the antics of Remy and Emile like [spoil]in the begining of Ratatouille with the mushroom[/spoil].

Nexas - Interseting speculation! I agree with martini833, however, in that it simply sounds like/comes across as a tasteful and fun title.

Thank you Mitch. Actually I think that would be an interesting thing to come at the end of the short…

But yes, I do agree your all’s, and Martin’s, point on it being such a short. I recall them from old MSTs I watched a long time ago…
May be an intresting venture for the two.

yay for 2-D! A little bit off-topic, but I think I’ve read that Disney is going to be doing some films in 2-D as well, starting with the movie “Enchanted” which has some 2-D animation in the beginning, as homage to the old classic Disney films.

Hmmm, sounds like something I said a couple of pages ago… because in reality, anything that can’t be even tenuously connected to MST3K isn’t worth anything.

Went ahead and split off the Mystery Science Theater 3000 stuff - it’s in Off-Topic. Go back to your lives, citizens.

It would be really neat if the made it a seasonal story. Come to think of it, it does sound a bit like a way to end a letter, although it must really hard to write when the pencil about the same size as you.

This is a very interesting article from /film, but it contains some spoilers from the short, Your Friend the Rat. [[url]/Film | Reporting the Reel World]

martini833 - Wow. Well, this sure explains the whole 2-D/3-D speculation/controversy. Thank you for the information!

[spoil]Eleven…minutes? Holy smokes. Well, at least we get something for our money’s worth, even if a commentary is not included on/in the DVD itself. (I still wouldn’t mind the latter, though. Heh.)

Yay! A 60’s style short! I’m gonna love this, man…[/spoil]

Yay, 2D!

I can’t wait to see it now! Haha. I think it’ll be awesome. Nice and long… I like it!

For once, I’m not going to highlight the spoilers! :astonished: Thanks for the info, though!

Wow. I am loving the whole [spoil]'60s instructional video theme[/spoil]!

Oh I love it! [spoil]Especially the 60’s educational theme and it being 11 minutes.[/spoil]

Very interesting. Verrry interesting. So it looks like Pixar is trying new things with their shorts as well. I really wanna see how [spoil]They’re going to incorporate all those animation styles into one short[/spoil]

Here are some stills from Your Friend the Rat. They don’t really contain any spoilers and they confirm the traditional animation so take a look!

This short seems to be very different from what Pixar usually serves up! I too am interested in how Pixar are going to [spoil]handle incorporating so many different styles of animation in one short without making it too over the top, and at the same time keeping the audience’s attention for the whole eleven minutes.[/spoil] Thanks for the screenshots and information, martini- I can’t wait to see this short now!

Awesome!
I just fish the DVD had commentary…

Either way, I’m getting the one with the bonus disc from Wal-Mart, but I don’t have a guarantee that it’s GREAT features. I did the same thing with “Cars”, but was actually quite impressed with the “Wal-Mart Cars” bonus disc that came out in 2006…
I don’t have the new “Cars” disc, but I’ll wait until Blu-Ray…
Which reminds me… The “Ratatouille” Blu-Ray may have something good.

This isn’t really a spoiler since they mention and show it in commericals that are now appearing but…
I think Remy and Emile might be sorta “teaching” in this instance. 2-D animation probably will be prominent, but I saw them in their normal 3-D animation doing heh…a rather small funny dance in front of what looked like a chalk board…My guess is it switches between the 3-D “teachers” to the 2-D “examples”
