Pixar To Showcase ‘Inside Out’ At Annecy Film Festival

Annecy Film Festival, Festival, Inside Out, Pete Docter

Posted by Brkyo614 • May 2, 2014

General audiences still have a long, long while to wait until they can see Inside Out, but eager moviegoers can get an early sneak peek at this year’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. During the festival this June, director Pete Docter is scheduled to host A Look Inside Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out, a panel which will share an exclusive behind-the-scenes look Pixar’s next feature.

Here’s Annecy’s official description for the June 10 event:

"Join Academy Award® winning director Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc., Up) for an exclusive introduction to his new film, Inside Out. Coming to theaters in 2015, be one of the first audiences in the world to take a sneak peek into this wildly original idea. Inside Out takes audiences to the most extraordinary location Pixar has ever explored: inside the human mind. Pete Docter will treat the audience to never-before-seen materials, including original concept artwork and a work-in-progress sequence from the film, as he discusses the genesis of the idea and presents a look behind-the-scenes of this truly ambitious film."

This will be the biggest look at the film since last year’s D23 panel, and undoubtedly a must-see for anyone attending the festival. Other highlights include screenings of How to Train Your Dragon 2, Disney’s new short film Feast, and an array of animated features and shorts from across the globe. For more, head to Annecy’s official website.

Inside Out opens on June 19, 2015.

Up News Round-Up (10/31/09)

Academy Awards, Awards, Box Office, Festival, Interview, Pete Docter, Round-Ups, UP

Posted by Martin • October 31, 2009

So I just updated my review of the (amazing) Up Blu-ray — but what else is going on in the Up universe?

What Are Up’s Chances at the Oscars?: In the following interview, The Wrap’s Oscar-ologist predicts Up will be a strong contender for the coveted Best Picture nom. This isn’t a farfetched claim considering earlier this year it was announced that the category would allow 10 spots to be filled. Anyway, the full interview, titled "Pixar Movies Are Lousy … at First" is a great read so definitely check it out for tidbits on Docter’s work!

Creative Screenwriting with Docter and Peterson: The following podcast from Creative Screenwriting Magazine is an hour long conversation with the forces behind the Up crew. Pete Docter and Bob Peterson spill the beans on everything from their history to their deep involvement in the creative process at Pixar. Of course, there’s lots of Up talk too. It’s definitely worth a listen if you get the time!

Up at Ottawa Animation Festival: Our good friends over at One Movie, Five Views were lucky enough to attend the Ottawa International Animation Festival where a few Pixar presentations were shown. You can read their wrap up of the Up presentation right here. They also have an exclusive interview with Ronnie del Carmen and Peter Sohn coming soon. Very exciting!

Up Box Office Buzz: Here’s a quick update on Up’s performance at the global box-office. Pixar’s latest has been going steady in the UK and other territories with an international cumulative gross of $295 million matching the US numbers at this point! The estimated worldwide take is hovering around $588 million according to Variety!

This post reminds me of how much more we have to look forward to from Up besides the video release which is less than two weeks away! Up opens December 5th in Japan and awards season is near. Brace yourselves!

Pixar Back at Annecy

Festival, Partly Cloudy, UP

Posted by Martin • June 5, 2009

Pixar is back again this year at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival which runs from the 8th to the 13th of June 2009.

All this week I’ve been trying to find more information on their presentation aside from the tiny snippets on Annecy’s official website. Turns out I totally missed the advertisement on Pixar’s Jobs page.

Anyhow, it’s indicating that the best way to catch Pixar at this year’s event is to attend their discussion on recruiting and hiring. You’ll find Peter Sohn and Kevin Reher, the Director and the Producer of Partly Cloudy, respectively, headlining the event. Also in attendance will be Animator Carlo Vogele and Senior Recruiter Pamela Harbidge. The discussion will be located at Ravel A&B on the 5th floor of the Imperial Palace on Wednesday, June 10th starting at 5:00 PM. It’s open to all (with festival passes?) but seating is limited so come early.

Furthermore, Bob Peterson and Peter Sohn will also have their presentation on the making of Up and Partly Cloudy, respectively. You can learn more about that event, taking place Friday, June 12th, over at the official Annecy website.

Check back there for more information on this and other Pixar related events coming to the most prestigious animation fest!

Pixar’s Andrew Gordon, will be at Semi-Permanent 2008, at the Bayside Auditorium at Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia on Saturday the 5th of April at 5:30pm. His topic: Pixar

For the one day of talks with many other artists, the cost is $220 for a General ticket or $80 for a student. If you are in the area, (if only I was), why not grab a ticket before they run out.
Thanks Rachel.
