Quint has seen Pixar’s RATATOUILLE trailer!!!

Pixar, Ratatouille

Posted by Thomas • March 15, 2006

Quint from Aint it Cool News has seen both Cars and the Ratatouille trailer at ShoWest!

Quint says…

My flight got in with time to spare, but I was misdirected to where I could register a couple dozen times, so by the time I ran into the “you might not have a seat, but go ahead and take a look” sold-out screening of CARS, director John Lasseter was being presented some ShoWest award. He told the audience that we were seeing the film digitally projected and it must have been a 4k projector or something new because the projection was absolutely gorgeous.

Anyway, he also said that he had a couple surprises for the audience before CARS ran. CARS had just been finished, with Pixar having just thrown the cast and crew completion party 2 days prior, so that was a treat. But the special thing we were seeing was the RATATOUILLE trailer, the very first people outside of the Pixar shareholders to be shown this trailer.

If that has you super excited like me (which I would hope you are), you can read the rest here where he describes the trailer in detail. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so beware you may get spoiled.

However, Quint also says…

I have been forbidden from reviewing CARS, but I am allowed to tell you that I have seen it and yes, I did like it. I really liked it a lot. If I say any more, Walt Disney himself will bust open my hotel room door and his disembodied head, floating in a jar filled with a mixture embryonic fluid and Mountain Dew, will tell his robotic limbs to tear me apart. I can’t have that. I hope you understand.

So that has me superly duperly tremendously exicted!!!! I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT SEEING THESE BOTH!!

Brad Bird Directing Ratatouille

Pixar, Ratatouille

Posted by Thomas • March 12, 2006

According to Daikun from the Animation Republic, via Cartoon Brew, Brad Bird, our beloved director of The Incredibles, is now directing Ratatouille, Pixar’s film after Cars, due for release in Summer 2007.

It seems the original director of it, Jan Pinkava, who also wrote and directed the short film, Geri’s Game, has been replaced by Brad.

Cartoon Brew adds…

“While modern Disney films often times have had the original director replaced during the course of production, I believe that this is the first time a Pixar film has not had its original director see the film through completion. It obviously raises a lot of questions about what happened, but with Brad Bird directing, I think we can all be assured that the film is in good hands.”

I think we can all agree on that.

Daikun also says that they showed a small trailer for Ratatouille the Walt Disney Co.‘s shareholders’ meeting. I’m guessing, as per usual, we will get to see a teaser with the previous film to its release, being Cars.

Now hopefully we can hear some more about Ratouille. Fingers crossed.

Disney, Pixar extend distribution agreement to include Ratatouille

Disney, Pixar, Ratatouille

Posted by Thomas • February 7, 2006

Yahoo Finance via Animated News reports that if the deal between Disney and Pixar shouldn’t close this summer, Disney and Pixar have extended their current distribution deal to include Pixar’s 2007 entry, Ratatouille starring Brad Garret (Bloat from Finding Nemo).

“This is a deal that Disney and Pixar negotiated independent of the proposed merger to handle the distribution of ‘Ratatouille’ until such time as the transaction closes,” Pixar said Thursday in a statement.

“Pixar would finance all the production costs of “Ratatouille” and pay Disney a straight distribution fee under the new deal, according to a regulatory filing. Pixar would also own the film.

The extension differs from the current arrangement, where Disney and Pixar split the production costs and the profits, and share ownership of the copyright.” says the article
