A rising star at Pixar has taken his talents to new heights. It was confirmed today that Dan Scanlon is currently directing Monsters University.
Best known to Pixar fans as the man behind Mater and the Ghostlight, Dan has been working at Pixar for the last ten years. Not only is he talented, but he’s also a genuinely nice guy. (Check him out on Twitter.) It will definitely be interesting to see his take on the monster world.
Although the news broke today, we were told that the director credit was supposed to be announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas along with the title of the upcoming prequel. Monsters University follows Mike and Sulley in their college days, at a point when they weren’t exactly best buds. See more from the CinemaCon reveal here.
Dan Scanlon’s Monsters University opens November 2, 2012.

To be honest, i’m more interested with DWA’s movies line-up right now. 3 original films in 1 year, that is usually something that i expect from Pixar, but well, something that up will go down, and something that down soon will go up.
Well, decent news by the way. MI is one of the most valuable legacies from Pixar and i hope this fresh director will not break it.
