Check out our first ever look at the upcoming Pixar short film, La Luna, directed by Enrico Casarosa.
Likely attached to Brave in 2012, this is the first we’ve heard of the short. The folks at Thompson on Hollywood/Indie Wire premiered the first image (right) alongside an official description:
"La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?"
Sounds fantastic! La Luna is set to premiere at this year’s Annecy Film Festival in France on June 6th.

I know they said that concept art with the dinosaur-like creature was for something for Discovery Channel, but perhaps it was really (or also perhaps?) for this as it seems like that could also fit here. I don’t know…just maybe.
“I know they said”
Who were “they?
I recall fanboys saying that, but never Pixar, and never The Discovery Channel.
doesn’t look like Pixar’s usual style…
“La Luna” means “The Moon” in spanish. One of the things that I really love about the Pixar shorts is that they are completely different between each other!
The tall character to the right looks the mirror image of Flinn’s dad from ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’.
