Toy Story 3 had one of the most successful debuts imaginable thanks to all the people who packed theatres yesterday.
In fact, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Pixar’s latest grossed $41 million dollars on Friday, making it the biggest opening day for an animated film — EVER. At this rate, Toy Story 3 is now on track to become the highest grossing animated film of all time!
Critics (150 of them) also made it clear that they absolutely loved the movie. In fact, Toy Story 3 is now the second best reviewed film on Rotten Tomatoes! Why second? Unfortunately, the perfect 100% ‘Fresh’ Tomatometer dropped one percent point thanks to (surprise, surprise) Armond White and another, lesser know, equally contradictory critic.
Since those reviews are unfounded and full of lies, I won’t even link to them. Instead, Cinema Blend has a great write-up that voids the ridiculous jargon being spewed by these ‘contrarians.’
It’s clear from the comments that you guys loved Lee Unkrich’s film, so enough with the negativity. Anonymous- You know, that’s true. But on your second viewing it might be fun to have a reference. To each one’s own, right? 🙂
Cole Smithy’s only complaints are about ticket prices for 3D and appropriateness given the G-Rating. These are both outside of Pixar’s control.
He should simply recommend that people watch it in 2D to save money, and say that he doesn’t feel it is appropriate for very young children.
I planning to see it tomorrow in 2D 🙂
