It only makes sense for Pixar to expand into the realm of Toy Story TV specials given the success that the Toy Story Toons shorts have had. Just in time for Halloween, the studio has announced a brand new holiday special starring Woody and the gang entitled Toy Story of Terror!
Animation World Network provides a short synopsis: "What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story of Terror."
I’d be surprised if Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich wasn’t involved with this project, considering his adoration of The Shining. Either way, it sounds like nothing we’ve seen from the franchise before, and hopefully the first of many Toy Story holiday specials to come.
Toy Story of Terror will air in October 2013.
Are you excited by the prospect of more Toy Story TV specials?
