Overnight, Cars has picked up three awards! One at the 2007 Grammy Awards and two at the 2007 Annie Awards.
To start, Randy Newman won the award for the Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media for Our Town at the Grammy’s. The song was written by Randy Newman and sung by James Taylor. Cars just missed out on the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album award (won by Walk The Line) and the award for Best Solo Rock Vocal (won by Bob Dylan). Congratulations Randy on the win!
And secondly, Cars brought home the award for the Best Animated Feature at the 34th Annual Annie Awards. Cars beat its other contenders, including Happy Feet, Monster House, Over the Hedge and Open Season.
Cars also brought home the award for the Best Music from a Feature, for Randy Newman (Again, congratulations Randy!).
Unlike previous years, no one film dominanted the awards this year. John Lasseter praised the other filmmakers who have together released more than 12 animated films this year.
“What a year we’ve had in animation,”
said John.
Overall, a big congratulations to everyone at Pixar and everywhere else who all played a role in making Cars the success that it is. A well-deserved pat on the back is in order!
