In a recent post on the Blue Sky Disney Blog, the writer mentions that after the Disney/Pixar panel at Comic-Con this year, he gathered with some friends including one from Disney Animation. This friend gave confirmation that Andrew Stanton will be directing A Princess of Mars from the John Carter of Mars series.
This does seem about right as Pixar haven’t really started production on it from what I gather and that would make sense as they are waiting for their director to finish up on what he is doing now. 2011 release date anyone?

I REALLY don’t think this will be Pixar especialy if it’s live-action. I’m almost sure this is some kind of a Disney project. Where did the rumor star anyways?
I went to a talk with Michael Johnson, software lead at Pixar, and he told me Pixar are moving into live action, starting with Brad Bird and 1906. John Lasseter has also said it in various articles, he said something like “We want to make all types of movies”.
Believe it.
